Carrier Ops in the Strait of Hormuz

Recommended Posts

Here's a neat article from CNN about the Abe Lincoln and transiting the Strait of Hormuz. Both videos have some pretty sweet F/A-18 footage including what looks like the VFA-34 CAG bird.

EDIT: That's not VFA-34's CAG bird. I can't identify it, unfortunately. 1:51 of the first video; anyone with better eyes than me?

1:51 not Vigilantes or Blue Blasters. Upon further inspection it is indeed a C.

VFA-137 Kestrals are the only F/A-18E unit in CVW-2. I have not seen this paint scheme on their CAG bird before so they must have painted it up like that on cruise.

Must be! I stand corrected on my earlier look stating it was a Growler.
