Seems like these two have their decks populated.

- I think aircraft on deck are added via an INI file for the ships. The following line determines where aircraft is placed on deck.

MSN File:

[GroundMission001]

Name=Nimitz Carrier Group

GroundObjectType=CVA-63

While the first Ship[01].GroundObjectType=CVA-63 determines the actual carrier model.

- The helicopters seem to be part of the ship model.

Niiiice!! Hopefully their SAM launchers will be active and will be targetable

how'd you get into the INI?

The INI thing is just a guess, been messing around with a saved campaign MSN file.

You can see how the carrier groups are formed. Interestingly when I create a CG from scratch, can't get the ships to hold formation..

Also the Mission Editor provides insight to the IcelandNA_targets.ini. That file could be the smallest in any stock terrain to date.

4 Airports to each side on the Island.

10-12 airfields off the map for the Soviets.

1 airfield off the map for NATO (RAF Leuchars)

Just a few target areas with Oil Tanks and that seems to be it.. Oh well, lots of cheap real estate for terraformers to fill I guess

The ME seems to have a few bugs of its own.

Flying a custom Strike mission, even if a target area on the island is selected the waypoints stay on the Kiev Carrier group object. (Which is always! on the map, along with the 2 US NAVY groups.)

Some of these new airfields are either built into the terrain mesh or have a different way of implementing to the map.

Because the objects on them do not sink into the ground when zoomed out. :good:

Other airfields that are based on previous stock terrains, still have this sinking issue.

On landing is anyone else finding themselves bouncing around the deck until they bounce over the side?

Havm't flown a TW game for a couple of years and it was only the gen one games then, don't remember having issues like this with any carrier/aircraft combinations back then.

That strip is fascinating. I "solved" the problem in SF-1, for me, by eliminating airfield LODs entirely, and just paint them on a terrain tile, making special airfield tiles like you would a city tile or something. I did this mainly because I ran settings that caused airfield lod flickering in my game, and I needed super primitive simple airstrips and its easier to get them to blend into the terrain when seen from any altitutde, just by painting them.

...Alright, folks.

You ever play until later in the SF2NA Campaign, and all of a sudden....

...the enemy battle group is IN THE MIDST of you friendly battle group??!!

And you CANNOT take off from the catapult...without eventually getting shot down be SAMs.

I'm just sayin. Maybe it's just me, maybe I just have a bad install.

Otherwise, IT IS DEFINITELY A BUG!!!!!!!!!!!!! :angry2:

Okay. Now I feel better

F-4 campaign is full of surprises. Like flying to hit a runway with one wingman, no escort, no help from Red Crown and 8 Floggers to kick your ass in overcast weather. A perfect mountain dodging trial. Wingie and 4 Floggers crashed, I hit the ground once for no damage, then again almost at home plate (two MiGs walked me home), lost a wingtip, balanced for a bit and ejected over a base.

What the heck is going on with the positioning of that airfield? How it juts out into the sea like that.... weird.

What is up this "CVN-78" you get when you fly campaign? Definate bug since the intro says USS Nimitz and we all know it is 68! Also, I am not getting this AIM-54 thing. If anybody has any good down and dirty techniques to use to get this thing to work right I am all ears. So far most all of them go ballistic and. 400nm in TWS mode come on gimme a break.

This is not a radar screen, it's a tactical display showing contacts gathered by all the flights and the Hawkeye. At least it says so in the manual :)

Select Phoenix, pick a close bunch of enemy targets, mark them and approach. Range to target vs. missile range is indicated on top of the screen. "Hot trigger" LED will light up and the target mark will start flashing on the display. Launch the missiles and hope that intense jamming put up by Bears and modified Badgers won't make most of your salvo miss. The odds aren't very good, but Sparrows are pure junk against those bombers.

Carrier battle groups do not merge and take each other on at gun range LOL. It would be pretty damn cool to watch an Iowa class battleship lead a battle group in an epic naval battle if the ships 16"guns and surface to surface weapons capabilities functioned correctly in the new game engine.

Well, apart from the obvious bugs, I've found another small bug in the campaigns. I have the possibility to create a northern sabre campaign flying the A-6E with VA-35 only...But at deck my plane goes Boom then...:this:

All I made was putting an A-7 cockpit in to make the stock Intruder flyable...

I'm enjoying the game so far and I do thrust in TK putting up patches asap, so no problem about zhe bugzz here

Oh, flying a F-105D (66) in the Campaign with the help of the customizer is FUN.

Only ECM, few if any countermeasures and speed at your disposal. You have to navigate the canyons of Iceland to survive. Lovely!

Same place, same mission and yet I was able to escape those SAMs.

Real problem is how to land the plane after the mission. One does

not simply choose vector for landing dntknw.gif This bug needs to be

fixed ASAP.

Wow, "upgrading" from the Phantom to the Tomcat in SFP2 really brings something to the table. The cat is excellent to dogfight the Migs, and the better avionics also make that I have much more success with the Sparrow missiles.

major bug with Isafjordur Airport (forgive me lack of specific fonts) -every wingman crasches into basalt after take off -I know it might be not that big issue as I think in campaign no one starts from there, but just happened to me in single mission:
