(Not only) for Hasse Wind: Aerial Reconaissance Cameras

Recommended Posts

Just found two interesting parts in the "Flieger-Album" website, about aerial reconaissance.

Still haven't found out, if the site can be read in English too - it seems not.

But even the pictures are interesting enough, and you, Hasse Wind, may have to re-activate

your school German. Enjoy!

It looks like they even used carrier pigeons in the early day, but I didn't find anything about how successful or not that method was.

That reminds me, I haven't seen any update photos of the OFF2 pigeon lately.

Rumor has it that it was shot and eaten by Capt. Edmund Blackadder.

I suppose the pigeon camera might have had a timer but given that this is the era of photographic plates, it must have only given one exposure.

And no focus either. Is that real?

It is real, yes. You don't need a focus with a small lens opening (11) and a short exposure time (125th).

But still - when did it release?

How did the pigeon look thru the view finder ? or roll the film for the next shot ?
