Well if we are comparing the 2 - wonder how fast that flying SAM site is in an intercept profile?

 

 

According to the FA-18EF manual with 5 x AIM-120s and 2 x AIM-9s and a TFLIR it can reach M1.25 top end

 

The F-14D manual however shows that with 4 x AIM-54, 2 x AIM-7 and 2 x AIM-9 it could get to M1.85 - and could carry more internal fuel - now thats impressive!

I didn't say it could outperform the Tomcat, I just said it could bring back all 12 AMRAAMs...
