ok ive tried applying a bump map for the explosive chords on the hawk canopy...no matter what settings I try they WILL NOT appear..tga just shows the lines and no glass...ive given up...anyone done it?

may try black lines and very light grey tga and set opacity dunno

i did something similar in the F-16 cockpits

 

just send me your tga and i have a look at it

 

cover with tga , but the white part is transparent as well and it only works when the color is white , as darker the color as much more transparent it becomes (Black = full transparent)

i think this is what you can get with a tga , if you want some better result you have to reduce the transparency of the alpha chanel or you have to make the explosive chords as a 3D part

check this settings for the canopy.tga in 3ds-max , you can play with the value to get a realy shiny canopy

you 3D just absolutely amaze me!! I don't understand half of that, but the results ... oh yeah!!
