Based on Tracker's superbly detailed Alouette III model, I plan to make the HAL Chetak(as it was called in Indian service), for the Indo-Pak mod. It served with all four wings of the Indian defence forces...

1. Army(SAR/CAS)

2. Navy(SAR, Anti-ship)

3. Air Force(SAR/CAS)

4. Coast Guard(SAR)

While the model and the cockpit are simply awesome, the FM needs a lot of work. You can't control the pitch on the helicopter and it is virtually impossible to fly. Can some FM expert please look at the data.ini and make it more controllable?

Awesome work!A small question:What mission types can this be used for in SF2?Also,if you want to use more realistic pilot figures(Without the oxygen masks) then check this Bronco pack:OV-10A Bronco SF2

P.S. just can't stopping drooling over the attention to detail that Tracker had put into this model.

has anyone worked on a FM that the AI can handle/ I love this chopper but while it flies great under player control the AI just can't seem to handle it.Great work Ghost,I am looking forward to the release.

i d/led it a couple of weeks ago, for this very same idea.

the thing is completely unflyable ... it needs serious work. At worst, if not readily fixable, comment out the cockpit line so it reverts to AI only, and just have it parked around the bases (dont forget the parked carrier span has to equal the actualy rotor span INAS versions)

Yeah, it is quite impossible to fly. It simply doesn't want to pitch up or pitch down, try using the rudder and its goes into a flat spin. Wingmen too end up going into crazy flatspins. Its a pity that it doesn't fly as well as Marcelo's Mi-8 or Dels Apaches because its such a wonderfully detailed model.

Anyway, I will try & finish off the Indian Army, AF, Navy, CG skins and hopefully one day the FM issues will get fixed for this model.

It is flyable provided you use Thrust Vectoring and rudders(Tail rotor) correctly, and fly it slow. Exceed 100 knots and it becomes hard to control.

One question to Spanish speakers on CA and those who know how to delete parts using data.ini.

How to remove the searchlight on top of the cockpit? Since the OUT file has Spanish words, I thought it would be best if someone with knowledge of Spanish could help in pinpointing the part name of the searchlight.

I tried it and these are the lines I added to the data.ini

.

.

.

Component[008]=DeleteSearchlight

.

.

.

.

[DeleteSearchlight]

ParentComponentName=Proa

ModelNodeName=Bulbo_Faro_Aterrizaje

DestroyedNodeName=Bulbo_Faro_Aterrizaje

DetachWhenDestroyed=TRUE

HasAeroCoefficients=FALSE

The light is still there on the model. Or am I doing something wrong :blink: ?

Bullseye Otto :good::cool: .

post-1698-0-01480500-1343401719.jpg

Now that top portion has been removed, another part needs to be deleted, looks like some sort of stand for the Sight.

The reason I thought it was a searchlight was because if you switch on a/c lights, it throws a beam of light, illuminating the area infront of the helo :blink: .

Unfortunately, there are no clear pics of IAF Chetaks having that Sight. In the pics I have of Indian Chetaks carrying AS.11s, it is unclear that the sight exists on Indian Chetaks. But, I guess it is imperative to have that sight to fire AS.11s. So,I will not delete the sight for Indian AF & Army Chetaks.

However, the torpedo carrying Navy and SAR CG Chetaks, for sure do not have it. So the sight needs to be deleted completely for Navy Chetaks, including teh stand shown in the screenie above.

Thanks again Otto :good: .

I believe Florian has dedicated Indian Navy Sea King variants[ASW/ASuW Mk.42A/B & Mk.42C(Ride of IN's Specops MARCOS)] in the works :grin:

I have been tying hard to get rid of this black part on top of the cockpit for the Torpedo carrying Indian navy Chetak( the part remains after removal of the AS.11/12 guidance sight), but no luck so far.

post-1698-0-80312200-1343445353.jpg

In my attempt to get a hint of that part name, I have been translating words, at snail's pace, in the OUT file from Spanish to English. That's some way to learn Spanish :rofl: !!!!!!

Any suggestions for the part name would be helpful Amigos :idea:.

This is the modern day camo that is sported by Army Aviation HAL Dhruvs too. These Chetaks are being/or already have been replaced by HAL Dhruvs in transport and Gunship (Dhruv WSI) roles in Army Aviation inventory.

Indian Navy(Early). The first Navy Chetaks came in this paint scheme and were deployed on the carrier Vikrant(SAR duties) and on the frigates in the MATCH role. The letter "W" means the chopper was deployed on the INS Viraat( "W" is Viraat's code)

^^ I love this angle. I have seen the Chetak from this angle so many times from my house :grin: . Coast Guard and Navy Chetaks used to fly by quite frequently. Now its replacement, HAL Dhruvs, fly by, but not so frequently. I miss listening to the Chetak's sweet sounding engines :sad: .

Workhorse of the Indian Coast Guard Aviation(भारतीय तट रक्षक - Bharatiya Tat Rakshak). The Indian Coast Guard's motto is वयम रक्षामः (Vayam Rakshamah), which translates from Sanskrit as "We Protect".

These dedicated Navy/AF mods would not have been possible without Wrench, Crusader and mppd's help :good: .

Flying it is hard, but one you know to fly it, it is fun to fly. The way AI flies the Alouette is hopeless.

Only trouble is that while flying you'll have to be Rambo :rofl: . Wingmen always reply in the negative when ordered to engage tanks or ships, eventhough they were armed with AS.11s or Mk.44 torpedoes.

Need to polish those weapons attachments types, get permissions and then upload it.

It is more or less complete, except for minor, but important, tweaks i.e pilot seating positions, weapon attachment types( since the nation has been set to India and IndianNavy)

I am too lazy to fix those. If you are willing, I will be glad to send the entire package over to you, my friend.

Flight issues, It is fun to fly one you know where and how to use the thrust vector and fly within the speed limit. Once you overspeed, there's no way of controlling the helo.

I can take a look but I have limited time so if you want to send it to Crazyhorse it prob would get done sooner....and better.I think I'm going to have to start a pester campaign to get the FM fixed up to the point that the AI can fly it. I'm not looking for realism but just some eye candy flying recons or CAS missions.

PM it to me dude, I will hook it up if that is all it needs. I think I can fix the FM too.

Thank you. I will put together the package in a day or two and send it over to you.
