I am totally lost with many patches, need some help

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

It have been so long time since I have ever flown Strike Fighter 2 series and I am re-installing SF2 series from scratch. I went to thirdwire website for patches and I am bit confused now. I have all series of SF2 (SF2, SF2:V, SF2:E, SF2:I, expansion pack 1 and 2). I installed all of these together and merged them. And now I am looking at many different patches which left me confused:

http://www.thirdwire.com/downloads_archive.htm

Am I supposed to install patch for SF2 (Mar 2012 and June 2012?), SF2:V, SF2:E, SF2:I, Expansion 1 and 2 individually? Or install just one patch? Your advice with my patches is much appreciated.

Cheers!

If you did a fresh download of the full version of each of the SF2 games that you own then you should automatically be up to date. No patching required.

I don't download these, I installed them using old files from years ago. They are exe files from SF2 Combo, along with expansion 1 and 2.

I read that readme recenlty, it still doesn't explain if I should install patch individually for SF2, SF2:V, SF2:E, SF2:I, SF2 Expansion 1 and 2. Should I install patches for each of these or just SF2 patch?

I just used the SF2 installer where you put in the email address you used to buy them from TW and one of the keys he emailed you and it DLs and installs everything you own at once at the latest patch level.

That won't work since SF2 Combo was given to me as a gift by my close friend, hence is not part of my Email. He bought it for him and me, so we could enjoy games and help each other with troubleshooting and installing mods in our own computer.

Everyone,

Thank to all of your helps, I have figured out what patch to install...I install patch in these following orders after installing SF2 Combo, Expansion pack 1 and 2:

Expansion Pack 2 Patch Jan 2011

Strike Fighter Series Patch March 2012

Strike Fighter Series Patch July 2012

Hopes these are correct orders...

View File (Early) Code Group Patches EAWv1.20to1.28to1.28ato1.28b
This is an early set of the un-official v1.28 and the two upgrades.
      *Important Information:
If you have the GOG versions, 1.2 or 1.28, then these upgrades would over write the GOG made eaw.exe revisions.
It effectively takes away the GOG patch. It 's your choice if you wish to do this.

      1.2 to 1.28 to 1.28a to 1.28b Install Instructions
      by: MarkEAW

      Download These Files:
      EAW1.28patch.exe 48.4MB  This is a 1.2 to 1.28 Installer (Jun222008)
      1.28to1.28a.exe  11.2MB  1.28 to a  (Jun182009)
      1.28ato1.28b.exe 969KB   1.28a to b  (Jul042009)

      eaw.ini file;
Before installing, remove/delete your v1.2 eaw.ini file from the game folder to allow the new un-official version to make its own ini file with extend functions.

      From a fresh install;
Have a clean "install" of the official MicroProse v1.20 game.
Install the first patch into that folder, the 'EAW12' game folder, allowing some existing files to be overwritten.
Then extract each patch there after into the same folder, overwriting some of the files each time.

      Hi,
After updating to October 2008 patch, the game hangs and then crashes at 60% while loading an instant or single mission.

Here are all the list of all of the changes made in each update from the Bugs, Fixed and Requested Features List thread by Killerfish Games linked below. I included the most resent Version 1.09b Beta from 12 Dec 2017 at the end of this list.

Additionally, I copied the USA selectable patches from Ka-50 Black Shark and added them to the selectable units. This should hopefully suffice until DCS World can read the USA.lua files from multiple modules (DCS World as of 1.2.3.9871 only reads from "A-10C."

I also added some UH-1/HH-1 units for the UH-1 Huey module:
      20th Special Operations Sqn. (USAF)
      HA(L)-3 Seawolves (USN)
      HA(L)-5 Blue Hawks (USN)
      HML-367 Scarface (USMC)
      HML-767 Nomads (USMC)
      HML-770 Sock Eye (USMC)
      HML-771 Hummers (USMC)
      HML-776 Gangsters (USMC)
      VMO-2 Cherry Deuce (USMC)
      VMO-3 Scarface (USMC)
      VMO-6 Tomcats (USMC)
      1st Cavalry Div. (Airmobile)
      10th Mountain Div.
      101st Airborne Div. (Air Assault)

Finally, I added a number of aircraft type patches (e.g. F-14 Tomcat) as selectable units, expanding the list of selectable airframes.

Special thanks to Outcast and Killer_R, whose FC2 mod of similar type inspired me to do this mod. I have also used Outcast/Killer_R's USA.lua from FC2 as the starting point for my determination of which A-10/F-15 units would be included in this mod. However, all included graphics are my own edits taken from public sites in accordance with the FAIR USE act.

      Manual Installation (1.2.4+):
If you wish to manually install this mod, then back up the following files/folders in DCS World:
      \Scripts\Database\Troops\USA.lua
      \MissionEditor\data\images\Countries\USA\Troops (entire folder)

      Manual Removal (1.2.4+):
      1. Copy your backup USA.lua to \Scripts\Database\Troops\, allowing overwrite.

Optional (the files don't hurt anything, but can be removed in the interests of storage space):
      2. Delete the contents of your \MissionEditor\data\images\Countries\USA\Troops folder (you did back them up, right?)
      3. Copy your backups to the \MissionEditor\data\images\Countries\USA\Troops folder.
