Hello! I'm making this thread to announce a project I've been working on slowly since SF2NA came out. Similar to NATO Fighters or the Vietnam Expansion, the goal is to enhance every element of the North Atlantic theatre and campaign. Below is what I've got planned.

Stage 1: Northern Scabbard (1978): Northern Scabbard is a series of three campaigns primarily focused on the 58th FIS. Why three campaigns? 1978 was a busy year for the squadron. They transitioned from the F-4C to the F-4E, had F-106s supplement them during the transition, and went from the SEA scheme to ADC Grey. The campaigns will also feature accurate* USN CV/CVN and CVW deployments, as well as Royal Air Force and USMC deployments.

Northern Sabre+: Stock, Northern Sabre is a fun campaign, but it's kind of empty. The intent of Northern Sabre+ is to increase amount NATO and Soviet forces in the area. Northern Sabre+ will include French Navy forces and USMC air assets.

Along with this will come tweaks to the IcelandNA to feature Soviet SAM sites.

Stage 2: Stage 2 will include 1956, 1962, and 1968 campaigns, and as close to accurate US Navy carrier groups.

Stage 3: Nordic Rush (1987): Nordic Rush is the most modern of the campaigns and is also the one I've already completed. As crazy as it sounds, there's FIVE(!) battle groups! Two USN, one RN, two Soviet. The only issue is it's at home on a flash drive 600 miles away and could use updates.

So those are the campaign plans. As expected, these will entail a lot of third party mods. 95% of the mods are available here. The Long Beach, DD-931, DDG-2 will be listed in the files but won't be required.

What's needed:

57th F-4C SEA skin

57th F-4C ADC Grey skin

A-4M (not a necessity, but I'd sure like to have it in the campaign)

More information on USMC deployments in the Atlantic, whether assigned to a CVW or a ground tour/TDY

More TBA.

Will this use the stock SFNA terrain or the HFD remake?

I suppose you need soviet campaign, too... I have plans for one, but first I want to make all "toys" available I might need.

there are some excellent skins for the 57th FIS in the Gen 2 DL section that you should be able to use. also i know a guy that made a decal pack for all USAF tactical users (non ADC tasked units) as well. (ok so i'm tootin my own horn there...........). finally theres been alot of conversation in macelana's NA improvement thread lately about USMC units that were there around 79.

I hadn't thought to make a Soviet campaign, but a Forger campaign could be interesting to say the least! The span of the campaigns means both the Yak-38 and Yak-38M can be included.

DA, already included those skins. What I'd like right now though are F-4C skins/decals. Does your decal pack include the full checker patterned vertical stabilizer for the SEA aircraft? The USMC units are going to be AV-8As, F-4s, EA-6As and A-4s. The issue is of course the lack of an A-4M. Were A-4Ls still around in 1978/79?

Soulfreak, that F-4 looks amazing.

MAG-14

A-4M Skyhawk squadrons

VMA-223

AV-8A Harrier squadrons

VMA-231

VMA-542

EA-6B Prowler squadrons: Presumably VMAQ 1 thru 4

MAG-31

F-4J Phantom squadrons

VMFA-115 (not sure, had F-4Bs earlier, maybe still had those)

VMFA-122

VMFA-251 ( deployed to Keflavik in 1982)

VMFA-312 (could have been deployed to West Pac)

VMFA-333 (was usually attached to CVW-8)

VMFA-451

A-6E Intruder squadrons:

VMA(AW)-224 not sure about model on that particular squadron, i guess all A-6Es by that time

VMA(AW)-533

That´s as far as i could figure out the OrBat of 2nd Marine Air Wing at the era. One Harrier Sqn aboard USS Saipan, VMFA-115 and VMA-223 as reinforcements at NAS Keflavik, and VMFA-333 on Nimitz are what i intend put on mine.

SF2 or SF2V users, you could use daddyairplanes´s F-4J_74, with SF2E you can get the Harriers and with SF2 you get the A-4F(74) used for A-4M. For the people who doesn´t have, you could use the Alternate type entry and reccomend other mods wich could cover them. IIRC, there is a cool A-4AR wich could be a good replacement for the A-4M, besides having the newer cockpit.

Viggen i just have the rudder checkerboard in the White folder for my decal pack. nothing in the Euro 1 or Hill grey as they did not fly in those schemes. they also changed up their layout alot of times, while most units in my pack stayed relatively the same throughout the years after 73.

@ macelena, you know i honestly forgot bout the J_74 i released! working on skins and decals or a newer one. lod with DECM built in provided by Sundowner, skins orig by the same but adjusted to be decal friendly by yours truly. and decal setup similar to the USAF pack. due to a couple other projects and schoolwork will be abit longer two weeks than most.

to all working this...... on the shorter two weeks side got C-130E serials done for SEA and Euro 1 skins on Dels Hercs.......

Huh I was unaware that we had an A-4M mod or that there was an A-4F_74. That solves one problem. Thank you Allen and macelena.

That's a good list for the 2nd Marine Air Wing. Elements of it will certainly be included. I'd also like to include VMA-322, a Marine Reserve squadron who was stationed in my state (probably the last Marine Corps aviation unit to be there) in one of the campaigns.

DA, that's my one issue with the 57th, their constantly changing layout, be it the black knight on the forward fuselage or the checkerboard.

Btw, does anybody know of any Marine Phantom Sqn wich could have been attached to CVW-11 in USS America, like VMFA-333 was to CVW-8 on USS Nimitz? America is the other carrier i´m using, since the stock Kitty Hawk model fits (last cruise they did with that configuration, apparently) and they were in their way back to the US from Rota at the time. I already added a detachment of VMFA-333 Phantoms to Nimitz, i just would like to add another one to America as well. Btw, any info on America´s BG composition at the time would be very apreciated. So far, it has USS Ernest Borgnine and USS William Holden as their escorting Cruisers.

America reached Norfolk in R/L on Sept 22 of 79. sooooo really take your pick on what who you want to put aboard although trials had been ran by then with Harriers on regular carriers so maybe a ferry mission to add more VSTOL fire power instead? as for deployments its mainly the Forrestal, Nimitz and Coral Sea that embarked Marine F-4s. think there was one other but not America in the later half of the 70's.

I have a 1969 campaign(setting: Red Hammer has become a stalemate) that I have played thru once. It works fine. You can have it for the pack if you like. Very Skyhawk/Crusader-centric. Ark Royal is there. F-102 for 57FIS.

I upgraded many squadrons as most in the Atlantic were flying the old A-4C (due to Vietnam?)

A few squadrons are wrong; to me this was a lesser evil than planes with no livery. There might be a few more squadron tweaks I could make.

Yes I thought about such. I might require a little help however. I also have to check the operational ranges, because I replaced the stock FM. Good to be reminded about that.

Also important is to know which Kiev_data.ini to use with the campaign. If you have seen Vertical pack... there is one for VTOL, STOL and VTOL player only. Changing is a bit "unconventional". I mean, to tell the player to quit game, an overwrite kiev_data.ini before playing a mission...)

In about 2-3 days, the Yak-41M will be available also (with a date of 1991), and if we ever have an early 90's action we can include that one too. Or maybe a "special" mission within the campaign to fly a combat testing with the proto ))))

That plane is a real pain in the bottom, to fight against )

Hey everyone, I know it's been a while since I posted but I've been really busy lately so I haven't worked on the campaigns at all. Been playing with making a campaign in SF2E to refresh myself on campaign inis.

Something that crossed my mind earlier today: battleships. Would they have been in the carrier groups and amphibious groups or would the battleships have had their own separate formations?
