Missing targets & airbase for Korea Air War Campaign

Recommended Posts

I reinstalled KAW campaign along with the KAW update and the Korea campaign and ground object file. Can someone tell me what happened to the ground targets and airbases????

How do I get them to appear?

(I would post pics but I get a message 'Error You aren't permitted to upload this kind of file') Not understanding that!?!?!?!

Thanks

HR,

To post a picture you will need to save it into JPEG format, then you should be able to post it.

2 choices for pictures:

use the full editor when posting, and use the "attach file" in the lower left corner

or

upload picture to The Gallery here, and copy/paste the url into "image" box (it's the green square, 2nd line, just under the smiley face)

HR,

For the airfield to show up properly, make sure the position it is placed is flat. Usually 2 grid squares by 2 grid squares does the trick.

For the warehouse, I would also say make sure it is placed on a level area

judging by the total LACK of terrain objects, you have the cat pointer line NOT looking for the proper tarrain cat.

iirrc, that ancient terrain needs the desert cat.

should be something about 'the terrain cat pointer line' someplace n the Knowledge Base

KRFRGE & Wrench, thanks again for your help, messing with the 'cat extractor/pointer' is a lot beyond my capabilites, but I will attempt to give it a try. :huh:

if you can type text here to post, you can edit an ini

HR,

This is what Wrench is referring to:

[Terrain]

TerrainFullName=DesertTZ

DataFile=DesertTZ_data.ini

TargetFile=DesertTZ_targets.ini

TargetTypeFile=DesertTZ_types.ini

MovementFile=DesertTZ_movement.ini

NationsFile=desert_nations.ini

BriefingText=desert_briefing.ini

DogfightFile=desert_dogfight.ini

DogfightOnly=FALSE

CatFile=..\desert\desert.cat <-------------------------- Should have this line in the main "name_your_terrain_here" file in the "terrain" folder

[Map]

FilenameFormat=PlanningMap%d.bmp

Width=1000000.0

Height=1000000.0

NumZoomLevels=3

Do you have a KAW_Types.INI file? That "tells' the terrain what ground objects to use.

Yes, What do I need to look for?

HR,

If you have the Types file then you should be able to see the objects.

Did you modify the targets file at all? If you accidentally mis-number the targets they wont show up.

This one has me puzzled.

No, Did not touch a thing, just downloaded & installed it. Here is a pic from a strike mission in 'single mission'post-19536-0-94623200-1365209676_thumb.jpg

Now here is the 'korea_TYPES config ini file. Everything seems to be in order (I have no idea what I'm looking for) there are 77 files.

korea_TYPES.zip

So, ground objects appear in single mission, but not in campaign mode.

ok...lets settle this

WHAT does the main ini look like (might be called "Korea.ini" or something like that)

post what is says (copy/paste)

the one below is from the SF2 KAW Korea terrain, so it'll give you some idear

[Terrain]

TerrainFullName=Korea (V3)

DataFile=korea3_data.INI

TargetFile=korea3_targets.INI

TargetTypeFile=korea3_types.INI

MovementFile=korea3_movement.INI

NationsFile=korea3_nations.INI

BriefingText=korea3_briefing.INI

DogfightFile=korea3_dogfight.INI

DogfightOnly=FALSE

//CatFile=..\Desert\Desert.cat

CatFile=..\GermanyCE\GermanyCE.cat

//CatFile=..\VietnamSEA\VietnamSEA.cat

Longitude=126.0

Latitude=37.0

WaterMap=korea3_Water.bmp

GroundObjectTexture=Green

LimitedNations=TRUE

NavalMap=TRUE

the lines in bold color are the ones we're interested in

Here it is;

[Terrain]

TerrainFullName=Korea

DataFile=korea_data.INI

TargetFile=korea_targets.INI

TargetTypeFile=korea_types.INI

MovementFile=korea_movement.INI

NationsFile=korea_nations.INI

BriefingText=korea_briefing.INI

DogfightFile=korea_dogfight.INI

DogfightOnly=FALSE

CatFile=..\Desert\Desert.cat ----------------Should there be more like in SF2 Korea? (would putting the // solve this? Do I need the Germany & Vietnam terrain catfiles?)

[Map]

FilenameFormat=PlanningMap%d.bmp

Width=1000000.0

Height=1000000.0

NumZoomLevels=3

nope, that's what I wanted to see.

the other terrain cats are listed in MY version, cause when I do terrains, I make sure End Users ™ can access all the terrain objects in any of the base 3 original cats.

now the next questions:

do you have SFP1, where the desert cat is. Without it, you'll have no terrain objects.

also, what are the names of the various _airfiled inis???

Yes, I have a clean version SFP1 (this is the config ini)

[Terrain]

TerrainFullName=Desert (Fictional)

DataFile=desert_data.ini

TargetFile=desert_targets.ini

TargetTypeFile=desert_types.ini

NationsFile=desert_nations.ini

BriefingText=desert_briefing.ini

[Map]

FilenameFormat=PlanningMap%d.bmp

Width=1000000.0

Height=1000000.0

NumZoomLevels=2

;NumZoomLevels=3

Then there is a Desert file (Security Catalog) Can't access this one.

If your referring to the korea airfield config setting files? I've included them in a zip file. They are named korea_AIRFIELD1-6

korea_AIRFIELD.zip

I've check each file and there is no actual airfield name (like Kimpo K-14 or Suwon (K-13)

how did you build your Korea game set up? Did you just drop the terrain into SF1 or create a new game install? If you creaed a new one, you MUST have the Desert terrain folder INSIDE the main Terrain subfolder, otherwise the cat pointer line will NOT work, as it's got nothing to reference from

you know, you CAN use the SF2 KAW terrain in 1stGens ... it's less than 2 minutes work editing the main ini to backdate the shaders (or lack thereof) for the 08 level SF/Wo*

1. I installed a clean SFP1, patched to 8.30.06 (did not think this would work with Oct08 patch.)

2. Then, Korean Air War (1950-1953) ALL INCLUSIVE Mod for SFP1 SP3 Version 1.1 by Edward

3. Korean Air War Mod Terrain and Campaign Update by Edward

4. Korea Campaign and Ground object by Malibu43

I followed each readme to the letter, so whatever was already included in each add-on is what I used.

No, I DID NOT know you can use SF2 KAW terrain in 1stGens!
