Strange AI behaviour July2012 Patchlevel. Workaround?

Recommended Posts

I got strange AI behaviour during degressing from mission.

Nearly every AI Flight degressing from mission on their way back home are flying near Stall speed (between 130 to 170 kts, depending on the aircraft.) They hang up in the air like sitting ducks.

I never watched this before since I upgraded to full 5 merged Install July2012 patchlevel.

Is it me? Is it the game engine? Is there a workaround available? :dunno:

Thank you!

This includes you own autopilot, too. the last waypoint before the landing path has such settings. If you make your own mission - I suppose - you can change. But otherwise the game is generating that... to my best knowledge, but let's hope there is someone who knows more

if that is the one, that leads to the airfield... there are two waypoints you cannot skip, the one that leads to the airfield, and the final approach. Other than those, I did not notice such slowdown.

Well, except maybe when there is very little fuel left... I'm not sure it needs to be checked...

Try to make a mission and edit the waypoints in the mission's ini file manually to see if the game still does that

Ok. Editing the length of the legs will not clear things up, because you are editing your own WP´s and not the AI-Flight. Fuel consumption could not be the problem, because there were no calls of the AI Flights: "Bingo fuel"

And it is anoying seeing these AI Flights on long missons 200 miles hanging in the air with 30 degress AOA. I never get the problem in SF2 in earlier patchlevels. I upgraded recently to NA on July2012 patchlevel.

By the way. During missions by the stock game engine (and MODs too) there are always the same WP´s. (asuming the same are made for AI Flights by game engine?)

WP 1 = Airfield (never shows up in the HUD)

WP 2 = 10.000 Feet (always) some miles 10? of the runway

WP 3 = Half the way to Mission objective (rendezvous point for escort missions)

WP 4 = Ingress point (some miles 15? of mission WP)

WP 5 = Misson WP

WP 6 = Degress point (some miles 15? of mission WP)

WP 7 = Half the Way back home

WP 8 = Initial (some miles 10? of the runway)

WP 9 = Approach (Turning to final)

WP 10 = Airfield (never shows up in the HUD, but in ADI)

is this specific to a plane an mission type or general? I'm snowed right now, but I can investigate something. maybe I seen somthing but it wasn't that serious otherwise I would remember more.
