Just installed it two days agao and am having a great time!

Haven't been this excited and enthralled with a game/sim since RB3D came out way back in the late 1990's. My search for an excellent offline sim with campaign is over. I took a vaca day just to fly....this is good stuff!!!

Any tips on filling out claim forms in campaigns?

Welcome over Flanders fields, MudWasp!

Rural NY - can you specify that a bit better (in a PM if you prefer).

Then I'll add your name to our OFF PILOTS MAPS.

Any tips on filling out claim forms in campaigns?

Put in data like time, altitude and location (you could even pick the longitude and lat.

from the inflight map, if you want to go the safe way). and of course the aircraft type

and number of craft you shot down.

VERY IMPORTANT: avoid any semicolons - they will interrupt the report.

To add to that, take notice of the names of your flight mates, to be added as witnesses.

Thanks Guys!

I had been just using my wingman's name, rank and the type of craft destroyed. Didn't know I could add in more data. Sometimes I'm not sure of the exact make of craft destroyed and have been writing it down on paper after pausing the game. Is there a way to replay the mission, take notes and then fill out a claim report? Asking because the claim report shows up right after mission and I wasn't sure if I could fill it out after prompted.

The grapics in this sim are way better than I ever imagined they could be. Totally amazing for a mod to an old game engine. Can't talk enough about the offline fun I'm having in campaign mode. I love rural living in Panama, NY except for lack of high speed internet. The current gaming trend is almost exclusively geared to online play which is a deal breaker for me. ROF is a no-go, but BHaH is a perfect fit. Will be getting Hat In The Ring soon, can't recall the download size, but can access high speed at a friend's or relative's house in the city if need be.

Right now I'm wondering if my old TrackIr 2 would work with BHaH and windows7.....kinda doubt it

Welcome, MudWasp48! Since you're enjoying the campaign so much, you may appreciate OFFice: the incomparable campaign engine for OFF. It's a big download but well worth it, especially for new OFFers. HitR and OFFice together are about a gigabyte to download.

As for reports, the more specific detail you can add the better your confirmation chances. It's commonly accepted practice to pause the game out of combat and turn on labels to identify craft, then turn off labels for combat itself. But of course you can play however you want. OFFice lets you edit your claims reports after the fact.

Thanks Lothar, Office looks very immersive.

I'll have to get that after HitR.

I'd have to use a download resumer if done from home, will HitR allow me to do that?

Welcome aboard! Sounds like you're taking this flying seriously.

I don't know if you can go through the mission recap before filling out the claims (I don't think that you can). But pausing and writing down all the details really helps.

If you really want to get a shock to your system - fly BHaH for a while and then fire up plain old vanilla CFS3. You won't believe they're the same game engine!

Welcome MudWasp! Glad to see your settling in and getting in some flight time. I've been able to get my claims in the 85-90% range by wording my claims a certain way and by being very thorough. Make sure you look at your map when a plane goes down and record where it is (ie; Northeast of Ypres or at Montingen airfield).

Also, list all pilots from flight 1 and flight 2 and make sure you put down "ground troops" as a witness. Good luck!

Jarhead, Yeah, I can't believe it is the same game engine! Took a free flight and explored London...WOW, and the clouds...it tops the current x-plane and fsx for environment and detail.

Shiloh, thanks, didn't know I could be that detailed, ground troops may help. Sometimes my squad isn't close by if I'm not flight leader...

Anybody know if HitR will allow a 40 hour download? I've done downloads that size before with a download manager/resumer and not had troubles {FSX and X-plane addons}, but I'm aware that some download shops only allow one attempt.

Welcome Mudwasp48 thanks for the comments. WM's scenery is usually some of the best out there in any sim. HITR usually allows 3 download attempts, (unless you buy download insurance then you can keep the download active for 2 years) but if you leave the link open maybe it will allow resume. If you have major problems let us know anyway.

I didn't see an option to purchase the download insurance, but none of my cards were accepted. Even tried my wife's card, wich I used lto purchase BHaH due to same issues, and it didn't go through either. Must be our banks have had some issues with the Avangate as a "stop" was put on her card when I ordered BHaH. That kinda put me in the dog house when she went to use it later that day..black%20eye.gif

Guess I'll either have to call my bank and get pre-approva,l or maybe one of those store bought prepaid cards will work?

Just a heads-up, the link is not resumable. I emailed it to a friend (former coworker and current tennat of 5 years) that lives in the city and he downloaded it for me. I'll pick it up in about 6 hours and give him a ride to work saving him taxi fare. My wife took me out for lunch at a nearby Casino on Sunday. She is into that, me not so much. A slot machine caught my eye, the Red Baron, and I dropped a $20 into it. Got lucky in a bonus spin and won $323! Ordered a trackir 4 pro today... am trying to get my friend into flight simming and will give him my old flight stick. Nothing fancy, logitech 3d pro digital, but it might spark a flame.

I like being out for meals. When I'm invited. A "slot machine" I guess is a gambling automat?

Wow, you multiplied your 20 $ by 10,5 if I calculate that right!

Are you sure you wanted the TrackIR 4 - there is already a TrackIR 5 Pro?

Yeah, I debated between the two. Came down to a sale price that was less than half the price of the other. Just hope it will be supported for awhile. I would have been happy if my ancient trackir2 was still supported, but of course then I wouldn't have purchased a newer version.

"automat" might be the right term.. I was playing $0.25 a play/reel when it hit. Would have been sweet if I'd max bet, like 8x the payout... I'm not much into Casinos, but the all you can eat Sunday buffet is very good. We go maybe once every two months or so, but my wife and her friends go more often. She was "comped" two free buffet dinners so she took me out for my B-Day. Soon their horse racing season resumes. I enjoy watching them race, but don't bet on them. Here is a youtube of a red baron slot machine

Wasp, you can have the hardware TrackIR 4 Pro, and still run the TrackIR 5 software with it.

I am doing the same, and it works fine.

That is good to know.

I'm sssooo done with Amazon! Just checked my email and the trackir4 order was canceled, out of stock... I placed the order on Monday morning, took 2 days to tell me that. Had this happen a couple of months ago too with a book.

Oh well, might look harder at trackir5 sales. Best price I saw earlier was at thehumansolution $145

Just be careful with that TrackIR MudWasp. It's an awesome product but very fragile. Mine is held together with tape.

Glad I'm not the only one. My TrackIR is mostly held together with crazy glue!

Luckily, my transmitter/receiver is still unbroken, but I do have the reflector stapled to a baseball cap.
