I did a search on the forum but couldn't find a topic that explains what defines an airfield as small, medium or large

is it the number of squadrons or are there other factors?

I tried landing an f-18 which is set to medium on the small Ísafjörður Airport in SF2NA and it crashed on touchdown. No problem on the two others though...

Is there a rule? I also have custom campaigns for the desert map. I wondering if I didn't misplace a few aircraft...

Is your game settings for landing on hard. Check that 1st. If you try to put a heavily loaded plane w/full fuel + stores you could be landing to heavy, and if your trying to hard to land on a short field you could mashing the landing gear through the plane. Try to lighten the load half fuel and no weapon stores.

nah landing is set to normal

but even with the AI the F-18 crashes landing on Ísafjörður Airport. An A-4 and an F-16 (both with minbasesize=small) don't crash

F-18 has minbasesize set to medium

Runway 1, 5, 6 = Medium. Length 2500m

Runway 2 = Medium (but small medium). Lenght 2500m (but it don't look quite that long in game)

Runway 4 = Large. Length 3000 (but it looks bigger)

Runway 3 = Small. Length 1200m

it may also go by how many squadrons can be based there

Runway 1,5,6 = 3 sqds

Runway2 = 1

Runway3 = 1

Runway 4 = 6

that's right form the stock airfield ini and targets inis
