So while we wait for the downloads to be brought back up online, I was curious to find out how many of us are actually successful in bringing their respective birds down without pranging at Ísafjörður Airport in the stock Iceland terrain !

The AI very conveniently lands on the hill in front of the runway clears the top and then lands; Ive tried coming in the other way in a Hercules but no luck!

The other aircraft I've tried is the Lightning.

7 times so far!

Of course

Am I to guess that an attempt in a Harrier dosn't count? :P

Craig

Of course it counts!

This place is actually way more challenging than an aircraft carrier!

Not if you approach perpindicular to the runway at <100 knots before slowing, turning into wind, stopping and landing vertically it isnt :D

Gotta wonder who had the bright idea to buld an airport/field there though.

Here's the same airport with Gerwin's TOD, unfortunately FRAPS isn't working with SF2 or I'd upload a short video of me doing touch and goes with the default geometry (on one landing I nearly banged up the jet too much) but it is a challenging approach.

Eric, TK's Iceland is waaaay tougher...in fact it is quite close to the real thing as depicted in the video above.

I imagine you ought to be able to do it in a Hornet; but do try it on a Herc-no speed brakes!

Well that's what I meant, the difference is that Gerwin's is much easier but I did use TK's default scenery and it is challenging even with a Hornet.

And with the Tomcat... if you watch your speed you can do a same approach as in the video you posted above.  Hairy though but it can be done.  I've actually tried it in FSX with the Super Hornet and get decent but sometimes terrible approaches.  A prop shouldn't have any issues though but whatever game or sim its' still challenging.

      Hi,
after seeing the TMF F-14 has wrong and inaccurate speed and fuel indicators, i found out the default Third Wire F-14 has working and accurate ones, but i dont wanna use it cause the TMF Tomcat is better and the cockpit too more realistic too, so can you switch the speed and fuel indicators on the TMF F-14 with the default Third Wire F-14? And for fuel too? Do you need to 3D model and/or do something else other than edit some text files?
And is it or it's not possible to do?
Down here are 2 pictures from the correct cockpit in the default Third Wire F-14:

And 2 from the TMF F-14 (the inaccurate one):

      Thanks for helping.

      "F-14A Iranian Bombcat"

      --- !!! Requires SF2NA !!!
--- It uses AvionicsF14A.dll, F-14A_77_Cockpit.lod and F-14A_77.lod model by ThirdWire.
--- This was tested at July 2013 patch level, on an "All 5 Merged" install.
      Modification:
Some data of the weapon pylons, loadout, avionics, cockpit, for make it possible to use the F-14A as a fighter bomber through A/G mode with CCIP on HUD.
Data of the leading edge slats, now movement it's automatic (depends by Angle of Attack).
I've added vapor effects for the fuselage and air intakes (visible during high g maneuvers).
Canopy now can be open by pressing shift-1 command.
I changed orientation of Iran on Nations.ini, from friend to enemy (now you can engage fight with nato and israel air force jets).

      View File SF2NA A-4C_65 Pack
      SF2NA A-4C_65 Pack
      = Tested in SF2NA, Full-5 Merged
This project started as a personal customization to improve historically the skins for the CVW-1 A-4C_65's Squadrons  aboard JFK in her maiden cruise.
So,I realize them basically to be used in the Northern Sabre 69 present in the SF2NA Expansion Pack.
The skins are based on the superb Nyghtfall's templates,so much of the credit will be deserved by him.
All the decals was done by me.
All the Bu.Nos are historically correct for all three Squadrons.

      ==========
      To Install:
As always raccomended, all in the relative folders in your game(s)
      -----------------------------
      Credits:
      3W for the A-4C_65 model.
      Nyghtfall for his  beautiful template
Me for the decals and the small improvements

      ------------
      Know issue:

The only issue is common to all three skins: I collected all the Bu.Nos. assigned to all three Squadron, but was unable to associate the specific Modexes to some of them, so I'll be a bit licensing about this aspect
      --------------------------------------------

This package may NOT in any way, shape or form be used in any payware addition.
