installing addon AIRCRAFT

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm just starting in SF2 and Have question about DLs ..I read in the knowledge base that to install aircraft it must be installed as an object in the  saved games folder which I thought I did. The instruction for installing Vautour BN in the saved games folder of SF2 I say just drop it in as   an objects folder into the objects folder, of course I got nothing in the game. What did I miss?

Dont drop objects folder into objects folder...drop objects folder in C:\Users\Ur Name\Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2 Europe\

or open the DL object folder and drop content into the object folder in path above.

I opened the DL folder for the Vautour, and dropped the content in to third wire\strike fighters Israel.  the file all went to the correct game folders , but .Again, no show

in game play . what next?

Can you provide a screenshot of windows explorer of where you have put the files - and what files exactly are in the Vautour folder?

I can't get Screenshot , but I took the 4 folders ,aircraft, pilot, decals and weapons     in the objects folder and hit select all , and sent
I put them in the 3rd wire \SF2 Israel\         saved games folder \  objects\aircraft.

please excuse my ignorance , but I am still feeling my way around in Windows 7. I didn't know there was a way to take screenshots of windows.

the two versions of the aircraft B and N are now in the aircraft file along with weapons, decals and pilot.

Thanks Deanklef

the PrntScn button works for ALL version of windows to take pictures of the desktop, folders, etc.

of course, to save the image, you need to drop from the clipboard to photoshop, or some other image program

You are right, I think I put all the files in the aircraft folder.

I will try putting them in the listed folders and see if that works.

Thanks, I will let you know how that works out

I put the Decals, Plots, and weapons to were they should be and now both aircraft show up in the game, although I don't have a cockpit view for the Vautour N. both plans file look alike

in there a /Cockpit subfolder INSIDE the aircraft's folder, or does the main ini (VatourN.ini) reference a stock cockpit??

It's what's listed in there that's the key

example: is the stock 3W VatourIIA, using the Meteor8's pit

AircraftFullName=Vautour IIA (3w)

AircraftShortName=Vautour

AircraftDataFile=VautourIIA_data.ini

LoadoutFile=VautourIIA_loadout.ini

UserList=VautourIIA_UserList.ini

CockpitDataFile=Meteor8_COCKPIT.INI

(although mine is actually renamed to Vatour_cockpit.ini, as I've moved the pilot position to match the external view's position)

Hi Wrench,

Yes, there is a cockpit subfolder inside the Vautour N folder exactly the same as the B model  only the B model's cockpit works and the N models doesn't.

They both reference A-4f and F-86f gauges ,.Why one works and the other doesn't is beyond me.

I tried interchanging them, but it  doesn't  help. sorry. I was not permitted to attach this to the reply..

[cockpit data file=Vautour N_cockpit. ini  ]

would help to change the N to a B?

is that a space I see between Vatour and N???

remove the space (using the under score), so reads as

VatourN_Cockpit.ini

and see what happens.

  Methinks the problem might be this:

post-60912-0-01229600-1378175787_thumb.jpg

It looks like the wrong cockpit was supplied with the aircraft; in the Cockpit .ini, change ModelName=F-86D-45_Cockpit to read ModelName=F-86F_cockpit. The funny thing is, the readme says: "Thanks to Wrench for looking over an early version of this update and supplying some additional fixes and adjustments, as well as the F-86D cockpit for the IIN model." Well, after 16000+ posts, I guess Wrench is entitled to forget stuff!
