SARCASM v 1.5

SARCASM sky/clouds mod version 1.5

what's new?

-new experimental sky lightning (HighAlt sky pushed down from 5 to 3.5 kilometers, try 2 km if you want things go odd!)

-modified, more fluffy clouds (finally!)

-smaller clouds texture (no need for 2048 ones really), and now only one

-small changes to clouds distribution pattern for scattered and broken

unpack to your Flight folder, overwrite when asked

(previous installment of SARCASM mod not required)

have fun

Stary, maybe you're getting burned out on modding SF2 because you have obviously been devoting so much time and effort to some really impressive additions.  Thanks for the great contributions you have provided for our wonderment and enjoyment!

Hi Stary! I noticed that with SARCASM 1.5, while playing missions set during winter, on some terrains set with their correct longitude and latitude we have night instead of daylight. I noticed you changed this values in the .ini:

[EnvironmentSystem]

UpdateRate=60.0

InclinationAngle=60

Latitude=0.0

I restored the stock default values and now night during daylight hours is gone. I hope this proves useful in case you are planning an update of your awesome mod.

Rends, do not touch the terrain .ini (the GermanyCE.ini for instance). The Longitude and Latitude of the stock terrain are correct, so restore them to default. The values I changed are those of the EnvironmentSystem.ini (which is in the Flight folder) that comes with Stary's mod. The first values in that .ini are the following:

[EnvironmentSystem]

UpdateRate=60.0

InclinationAngle=60

Latitude=0.0

I just changed them to this:

[EnvironmentSystem]
UpdateRate=60.0
InclinationAngle=23.5
Latitude=34.0

It seems to work for me. Report if it works or not. Bye!

because the Earth does NOT have 60 degree axial tilt!!! (Neptune anyone?)

wonder if Stary is/was modeling the wobble in our planet's axis??

Seems to work. Set a Mission on Dez.21 13.00 and it was daylight :)

Thx,

Hi
The clouds are much better than the stock ST2 versions - however, where has the soft transition between sky and horizon gone. In the stock install the sky and earth blend smoothly, but now there is a 'deep' blue horizon effect which clashes with the sky colour and looks a bit odd as it gets deeper the higher you fly. Can this be edited out in the .ini file?
Regards
Ron

Bigrontheman, that's something that will be reverted to stock values in SARCASM 2.0, but you can edit the environmentsystem.ini in Flight fodler yourself to have the stock transitions again:

try replacing SARCASM 1.5 values with these taken from 2.0 beta I have:

Sorry for bumping this, but I just really wanted to thank you for adding this mod in mate- it really really really helps bring new flavour to a not-so-old game! Cheers, and if you're still working on SF2, keep up the bloody awesome work!
