Socrate, there are some remarkable photographs here.  I don't remember seeing them elsewhwere.  I particularly like the picture of the Nieuport above the clouds at the top of the third page down.

Also, the captions of the photographs of the AVROs mention Zeppelins and Freidrichshafen ( I regret my French isn't good enough to translate much).  Does anyone know if these would be the aircraft that carried out the November 1914 raid by the RNAS.

Thanks for the pics, Socrate.

Your postings made me wonder, if perhaps "L'Illustration" might be common property today,

which can openly be read by everyone. So I looked into WIKI COMMONS, and really -

Wayfarer, yes it is, 3 British wingmen raid november 21 1914.

Flight lieutnant Sippe, Flight-commander Badington and Squadron-commander Briggs (captured by German).

Yes, it is - I can get each page, and magnify it.

You need to click on a page, then on "Full resolution", and then you can even zoom in and read.
