WoV add-on campaigns in SP2 environment

Recommended Posts

I've been putzing around with a nice campaign MK2 and I were working on a ways back, and decided

to add some more of the nice, new jets released for my active-duty era, `Nam `84.

Adding the Jaguar and Tornado, so far, has gone well. It's just the VC's choice in defenses

that I find very strange.

I won't get specific, as I would like to hear if any one else has seen this...

You know, i actually never messed with that part of it, it is all stock.

Could it have something to do with the starting date?

Try having a starting date of 1970 or something and see what happnes, just a shot in the dark :wacko:

Ah, now we have it.

Yes, that is one symptom. Any other peculiarities? With, say, AAA?

___EDIT___ I will not be monkeying around with dates until after I complete at least one campaign

in the newest patch. (SP2.0). It worked in Beta, but just want to make sure.

oooo!! oooo!!!!

I know that one too....Only AAA that showed up was

ZSU-23-4's.....No other AAA.

I had SFP1 installed, plus a separate for DBS and Iran/Iraq....The next thing

I knew, no AAA. I'm now in the midst of a new install.

I saw a few other people were having the same problem on a few of the forums.

The truth shall set you free!

(Sorry, just saw Jim Carrey in "Liar, Liar" last night.) :blush:

But yeah, that is my other symptom. All ZSU-23-4's, all the time. Nothing else.

It's pure evil below 5,000" anywhere near Hanoi. I actually posted on SimHQ my

exploits of uninstalling after backing up my directory to DVD. No help, unfortunately.

Something in the new code, when involving non-stock campaigns seems to make

this happen, which is a real bummer. I'm sure it's not something TK can look at.

I am thinking of grabbing my Deset terrain from SF:P1, and the campaign and

stuffing it into my WoV build to see what happens...

Hey Spectre....

I noticed something as far as our disappearing radar and sams go....

When I fly in the 60's and early 70's.....I get the full bag....

When I fly in the 80's and 90's....just shilka's and sa-2 launchers (no radar) If I'm

lucky.

keep in mind this is after a complete reload....game, aircraft, wep packs, etc....

I running SP3.1.

Thanks,

Smokey

Yuppers, same-same.

Kinda sux0rs when you really dig the modern stuff, F-111F, Jag, etc.

I'm not sure when the transition of oddity takes place, and more importantly, why?

I can answer that question, I think....

I was playing through the game by year....70's, 80's etc.....

I notice Fansongs started to diappear around 1980.....So I thought to myself:

"What makes an object disappear"? End service date of course.

So I used the extraction utility to extract the data.ini for the Fansong from the

Objectdata.cat and found the following....

[MissionData]

NationName=SOVIET

ServiceStartYear=1959

ServiceEndYear=1980 <-----

GroundObjectRole=SAM_RADAR

Availability=COMMON

Exported=TRUE

ExportStartYear=1960

ExportAvailability=COMMON

I'll be fiddling with it a liitle before bed....I'll let you know what I find.....

Not to slag TK or anything, but It might have been included in the latest patch?

Good find.

I may have to look through the other ground objects and see what's up.

The Shilka's must have a really good date in the future...

Okay, sometime I think I'm a little too obsessive/compulsive....

I took my own advice and extracted all the data.ini's for all the AAA, ew and sam

radars, sa-2's I could find and set the end service date for 2040.

Then I went into the weapons editor and set the end date for the sa-2's there to

2040.....and,

VOILA! I ran a wild weasel mission in 2005 and found ZPU's, ZSU's, SAMS, the whole

smash.....

Since you pegged it first, do want to post a solution over at SimHQ, etc?

Do you thinks anyone will care?

You're the one who found the answer, post away! :)

As to whether the general populace will care, that is another matter. At some point in time

or other, I am sure they will...

Thanks, I think.

I'll test the waters over at simHQ this afternoon.....I'm going to play some more....

see if the air defences stay where they are supposed to......That and I have the

overwhelming urge to nuke something.

I only thought the fix would be good for newly created campaigns, but the change is immediate.

I just flew in an existing campaign, the Jaguar in `Nam `84, and the Fan Songs, AAA and all

were there.

Have fun on your nuke run... :spiteful:
