Aftermath - Berlin 1945 (Colour Footage)

Recommended Posts

Though I live here, I could not recognise some of the places. No wonder, is it?

scene of the woman setting her table reminded me of a family living room in Kosovo back in early 2000..... although the Berliners wouldnt have been able to watch Sky 1 on a satellite dish in '45.  same freaky dollhoue effect though

Berlin was pounded so heavily that it's amazing that you could recognize anything.

Not much of a parking problem in those days - not much traffic either.  The people look a lot happier than what I have heard of those times.

In such extreme situations, people seem to live in the "here & now" only. No worries about past or future.

That is a lot of worries less than we carry around (unnecessarily).

Well, basic landmarks the Reichstag, the Brandenburg gate or Hotel Adlon and some others...

Well...for one, the war was over.

Fascinating video. I lived there with my family from 1963-1965 and still recall a lot of old memories of what was shown in this video.

All I could think of is "the terrible destruction and waste in war".
