Terrain Modders: SAM Placement

Recommended Posts

Need a quick tip on placement.  Is it better to make SAM sites as their own, independent TargetArea or incorporate their placement into a larger, more complex TargetArea?

Also - and this is just to make sure of something - I wanted to confirm that the only way to get night missions in a campaign is make the terrain land-based only, and not a NavalMap.

It's been a while since I've been in the game, and I'm trying to get back into it.  By the way, thank you "mue" for the TargetArea Editor.

I build them into the larger areas. Helps prevent the "overlap" issues

Thanks, Kev.  I figured I was probably going to have to go that direction.  I can still do dedicated SAM sites as their own TargetArea as long as it's far enough from other TargetAreas, right?

For me it is better to create the SAM as own target areas.

So you can create a SAM network for area defence.

With including SAM or Flak into an existing target area you create only a local point defence.

Point defence is important, as protection for bridges and airfields.

But to defend an area, you need independent SAM sites.

AND dont forget. ONLY 16 SAM or Flak are active at ONE target area. If you put more on a target area, not all Flak or SAM will appear in game.
