EAW Windows 10

Recommended Posts

There's a 'nocd' for 1.2.

EAWPRO has nocd and 'nocd-device' built in.

EAWPRO also has a noOS fix too built in.

Edited by MarkEAW
clarified eawpro's proper support, and again.

I just want to say Thank You to RIBob mostly in the past few months (skip 1 or 2 :) and recently for providing feedback openly and in PMs as he goes along with getting EAW and using my site for help.
I directly tackle the problems he's having and suggestions, then clarify or write up new sections/topics in my help documents.
Recently I moved help text around for installing EAW in special folders outside of the normal location for important reasons, and I then went through the entire doc making slight changes based on experiences he mentioned in-directly. As did a few others.

I had fun writing the improvements to the install help docs recent changes and I am eager for you all to benefit from them.

Any questions are viable even if you have not read my site.
But for your own Help, please read the first few pages FIRST USE and INSTALL Help Documents before attempting adding EAW to your own system, follow the steps/preferred order in them.

My latest recommendation for Win10 users is to use the DXWnd DirectX wrapper as it gives the game a 64FPS and now provides fog, even for Nvidia cards.

Maybe turn off or disable Virtualization on your motherboard if the game runs slow. I turned it off here, I wasn't using it and my frames returned to 64 in the wrapper, instantly.

Please see my site for Wrapper links, settings downloads and you can read the wrapper info on my site. Plus whatever else you need. ;)

      Just a note,
Normally running EAW natively on WinNT machines, EAW won't run or correctly if the filename is not eaw.exe. (Campaigns/Careers will not save correctly)

However after some test when running EAW within a Wrapper Program you can have as many game.exe's in the games folder you want, they just need to be named differently, such as eaw12.exe, eaw12a.exe, eaw12x.exe, eaw126e.exe etc.
(You should at least have one exe, preferably the standard 1.2 as eaw.exe in your games folder so the noCD function works with it).
You just have to have a shortcut within the wrapper program pointing to each exe.
(I've added this and more info to my web site now and continue to explore more ideas)

Anyhow, anyone still having issues when EAW is run in the DxWnd wrapper (and that had DL my custom profile settings for that wrapper)?

      Hi everyone,
I was wondering how to customize the numbers after your callsigns, since it always gives me the same ones.
I think i managed somehow once, a bit of time ago, but now i forgot and have no idea how to.
I'm not talking about how to customize the callsign name, but the unit number after it.
As you can see in the Roster and in the picture under, i get "Fast Eagle 1-1" and "Fast Eagle 1-2"
      Here are some examples:

The numbers on the tail, wing and nose numbers are customized, cause i managed how to change them, choosing them individually for each unit in the mission file by changing "AircraftNumber=" and typing the number, like "2" (as for 202). It doesn't change by typing the whole number tho, like 202 by typing 202, but it goes by typing the number that corresponds to the list of numbers you have. For example, In a list that goes from 200 to 400, you will have to type 10 to get 300. Here i just typed "2" and "7" since the list starts from 200

IIRC, in the past i just used to type the Aircaft number just like that, and in-game i had the proper number after the callsign, like "Fast Eagle 102", not just the number displayed on the plane livery.
How do i do? I'm pretty sure that it's possible to have "Fast Eagle 102" on my screen HUD and in the Roster
Thanks in advance for helping me.

New Help Document of sorts. (I'm still working on it)
This doc tells you the three methods I know to have multiple installs of EAW.
Most of us just to full installs and copy the game folder to make new installs. The other methods are not much use anymore, other than for testing stuff out.
