dannavy85 25 Posted May 22, 2018 It is with great sadness to announce the death of Admiral Lyle Bull. Former Commander of Battle Group Alpha, USS Midway 1986-1989 and the original "Flight of the Intruder" who with his pilot LtCdr Charlie Hunter (died 2017) flew the single A-6 intruder mission in 1967 against the heavily defended Railroad Ferry Slip in Hanoi. Admiral Bull is survived by his loving wife Diana, his two naval officer sons who also flew A-6 Intruders and grandchildren. Of the two Naval officers who greatly influenced my career in the Navy, the Late Terry Toms of VA-115 and Admiral Bull...I still have the book on the old USS Enterprise that Bull gave me on the Midway.
