DCS World Open Beta to Release

This week we made the big step of updating the release, "stable" version of DCS World from our current DCS World Open Beta version. Not only does this bring all modules to the release version of DCS World (like the Hornet and Persian Gulf Map), but it also integrates many fixes and updates that have been addressed in the Open Beta over the past several weeks. Some highlights include:

  • Support for new campaigns
  • Added new USS John C. Stennis aircraft carrier
  • Implemented initial version of video memory manager
  • Added new OFFLINE mode
  • Added China Pack
  • Added moon light effects
  • Added Static Object templates
  • A-10C flood lights corrected
  • Updates to the Normandy 1944 Map
  • Added the new World War II Asset Pack units
  • Corrected tail wheel behavior for the Spitfire
  • Many improvements and fixes to the AV-8B Harrier N/A, M-2000C, MiG-21bis, C-101, SA342 Gazelle, Hawk T1, and Flaming Cliffs 3 aircraft

You can read the complete, lengthy change log in the dedicated thread.

Next week will bring an update that includes many additions and improvements to our Hornet.

DCS: Black Shark 2 – 2018 Trailer

Ka-50-Trailer.jpg

In 2011 we released DCS: Black Shark 2, which is still the most authentic simulation of the Russian Ka-50 attack helicopter. Seven years later, the Ka-50 is still one of the most fun and exciting aircraft to fly in DCS World. With the graphical and updated world (like the new tree system and grass) that DCS World 2.5 brings, the Ka-50 is better than ever.

DCS_BS2_Cover_400.jpg

To highlight just how great the Ka-50 is to fly in DCS World 2.5, we’ve created an updated trailer video. Later this year, we’ll also be updating the Ka-50 cockpit (and A-10C!) to use our very latest graphic technologies.

Just a note on versions:

The current version number of the 2 main development DCS worlds (Stable and Open Beta) can be checked here http://updates.digitalcombatsimulator.com/

The older 1.5.8 can still be downloaded and used but will not be updated anymore and neither will any modules on it. If you have an older PC then this is the best version to try.

If you are going to attempt 2.5 Stable or Open Beta then heed warning of the current minimum specs:

Minimum system requirements (LOW graphics settings): OS 64-bit Windows 7/8/10; DirectX11; CPU: Intel Core i3 at 2.8 GHz or AMD FX; RAM: 8 GB (16 GB for heavy missions); Free hard disk space: 60 GB; Discrete video card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 / AMD R9 280X or better; requires internet activation.

A question I want to know if the DLC of the A-10A has campaign mode how many missions it has.
Or just have individual missions.
I decide to buy this DLC to start from the beginning since I am new with respect to this type of simulator.

It is advertised as coming with a campaign and missions so you should get The Valley campaign with another 8 single missions going by what comes with Flaming Cliffs 3 (which is supposed to be exactly the same)

Note that the A-10A is a lite module and not a full simulator like the A-10C if that is what you are after.

Also note that Flaming Cliffs 3 is worth considering at $24.99 for this instead of buying single modules at $7.49 because it comes with the A-10A and 7 others:

DCS: Flaming Cliffs 3 (FC3) is the next evolution of the Flaming Cliffs series. FC3 features the F-15C, A-10A, Su-27, Su-33, MiG-29A, MiG-29S, Su-25T, and Su-25

I´m sure you have seen it in some movie, or read it in a story.
Someone who has no clue about airplanes has to get in one and fly off to somewhere.
They usually just get in and fly away, but it is really that simple?
Since I´m new to the flightsim genre I decide to dedicate my first flight to answering that question.

"The Heatblur Simulations F-4E Phantom II is the culmination of over 2 years of intense development, preceded by countless hours of research and built with our next-gen technology that brings many new features, leaning on all the know-how gained from our previous modules. DCS: F-4 represents some of the most immersive cold war fighter jet simulation available. Climb into the cockpit of this beast and announce yourself with thunder, as you experience the thrill of riding a primeval spirit.
DCS: F-4 includes, and models, both the DMAS and non-DMAS equipped F-4E Phantom II variants using the powerful J-79 engines. It utilizes our next-gen components based simulation framework - the aircraft is simulated as a connection of thousands of individual components. From an instrument needle to control surfaces, each component influences the state of the aircraft and even comes with its own wear and tear. Enjoy in depth fluids and electric simulations, a dynamic flight model and many new “firsts” in DCS, when flying and fighting in the F-4!
With the DCS F-4 we are introducing JESTER 2.0 - a completely rebuilt and redesigned JESTER AI to help you as your WSO, with improved and updated intelligence, a new interface and new immersive features, like pro-actively asking you questions depending on the situation - changing his behavior based on your answers. Teamwork is key in the Phantom. With JESTER 2.0 you will be able to not only enjoy this multiseat fighter in multiplayer with a friend, but also in singleplayer on your own. "
