Pak Fa "Russian Grey Camo

Recommended Posts

The T-50, not Su-50. In August 2017, the PAK FA (the Pespective aviation Complex for Front-line Aviation), also known as the T-50, received the official serial name of the fifth-generation fighter Su-57. I can also add that this skin is not completely accurate. In this color scheme, the red stars were indicated only by a contour.

Later, the Su-57 got fashionable digital camo (so called "pixel") -

T-50 was the designation as prototype. In service the plane is called Su-57.

Does anyone know the NATO Code name of this bird?

I don’t know if they heard about the PAK FA, but, according to Russian propaganda 'experts', NATO is so afraid of this bird that makes one shit in his pants!   'Cause "there are no analogues in the world!" (c)

NATO reporting name is either Frazor or Frazer.  They apparently decided against mass production, so I'm not sure how relevant its name will be, but then who knows what the future holds.

Hi guys. Here is the TGA file which adds Russian experimental "reduced visibility" insignia for the PAK FA T-50. For those who know what to do with it.

As far as I know, such "contour" red stars have not been used anywhere else. Most likely, due to the fact that, by and large, when the radar makes it possible to detect the enemy or friendly aircraft long before visual contact, the identification marks loses its importance. Now identification marks are painted only by tradition, so their "reduced visibility" does not matter at all.

The second reason, of course, is that the red stars are a subject of particular pride for the Russians (with a predominance of post-Soviet thinking). The cult of Victory in the Great Patriotic War is practically a religion in modern Russia. Therefore, any attempt to change something is perceived as blasphemy or encroachment on the shrine - symbols of the Great Victory. For example, an attempt to “update” the identification marks of the Russian Air Force in March 2010 by adding a blue border (so that the colors of the badges match the colors of the Russian flag) was met with incomprehension and caused negative emotions. After all, in January 2013, the Soviet red star was returned to its former appearance.

The insignias are not only tradition. They are necessary, caused by international conventions. Without markings the pilot would not be protected by the convention of Geneva. Thatswhy pilots and soldiers have uniforms. Without uniforms a captured soldier has no protection by convenion of Geneva and can be simply shot as rebel, without problems.

The rememberence of the victory in WW2 is not only a russian thing. A lot of former soviet republics celebrate it. And even in the western states, like UK or France it is a big subject up today. Maybe not as big as in Russia, thats true.

Of course. But nowhere, except for modern Russia, this celebration is not the central event of the year and nowhere acquires the character of a cult and mass insanity.

Note: I removed all the nation sounds from this Menu packs for size reasons. If you intend to install the "VIPER63A HQ Menu Sounds" pack, please install that pack first. Installing the HQ Sound pack over the Menu pack may overwrite some of the menu specific music files. You can always re-install this menu pack to get the menu specific theme music back.
This mod includes custom "vietnam Era" themed menu screens, pilots and (w/ 60s) music. You should unzip this package and preview the new screens before installing them. I recommend doing this as there are MANY alternate screens I have in there that you might like better.
      1) Backup (copy) your FLIGHT, MENU and PILOTDATA folder. I "highly" recommend that you (if you can) "RENAME" your Menu folder and let this mod create a new Menu folder for you. If you had installed any other menu mods, that may conflict with this Menu mod.
      2) To install, simply unzip and copy the uncompressed FLIGHT, MENU and PILOTDATA folders to your StrikeFighter2 mod folder. Don't forget to back up before loading any mods!
My StrikeFighter2 mod on Win10 64-bit was..(yours may be different)...
      C:\Users\<your_id>\Saved Games\Thirdwire\StrikeFighter2 Vietnam\
      3) To uninstall, delete the folders updated by this mod and copy (rename) your backed up folder to FLIGHT, MENU and PILOTDATA.
      Enjoy!

I made these upgraded alternate "Korean Air War" themed Menu screens to go with Do335's "SF2 Wings Over Korea" package!

Pleae unzip the compressed file and preview the new screens before installing them. I recommend doing this as there are some alternate screens I have in there that you might like better.

If you choose to install these screens, I recommend that you back up your FLIGHT and MENU folders in the SF2 Mod folder you're installing this mod into. Just in case you want to go back to your original setup.

I've seen some very nice screens in 1920x1080 mode, so I thought I'd give it try. So here is my "Top Gun" contribution! Special thanks to Homefies and Spectre8750 for their contributions that led me here...
This mod includes custom "Top Gun" themed menu screens, pilots and music. I used the MENU INI files to reuse the music files for different menus. This reduces the size of the package as I don't have duplicates of the same music files for different menus. You should unzip the file and preview the new screens before installing them. I recommend doing this as there are MANY alternate screens I have in there that you might like better.
