Sit rep:

The color of the small river and the Themse in London area does not really fit.

Thatswhy i'm reworking the small rivers to give them a dark, more natural looking color.

Screenshot is showing a WIP old (light blue) and new color (dark) of small rivers.

I decided to make the small river tile as JPG, instead TGA. A JPG tile has a size of around 300 kb, a TGA has 4.097 kb. The workload for the computer was to high, so that it could happen, that during dogfight with many planes the fps rate dropped significantly. With JPG it does not happen.

without the alpha channel, you'll loose the "moving water" effect.  Be like going back to 2003, before TK gave us "moving" water.

But I DO see the point of having too high a GPU workload. As long as the End User (tm) is aware of it beforehand, it shouldn't be an issue.

The darker blue is MUCH nicer!!

I think i will release the terrain with the JPG files. The TGA files could come as goodies in a seperate folder, so that guys with good computers can install the files with water effect.

Rivers look better without the water effect to me as I've never seen real rivers with huge waves in them. Just the reflection is fine but the movement really puts me off.

Sit rep:

The tiles of small rivers are dark now. This job has done and i'm satisfied with it. London tiling is also finished so far. Perhaps here and there some small things to do.

Now i'm going down the river Themse and i have made 2 new tiles for Tilbury docks and the near Fort Tilbury. Making tiles from black and white ´photos is not as easy as thought. (As usually)

The colors does not fit. Not yet.

Repainted the water, made the coastline fit with stock tiles and so it looks now.

Last sit rep this weekend:

First try to populate the target area Tilbury Docks:

I used factory buildings (shed roof buildings) instead long warehouses. The orientation of the buildings does not fit perfectly to the tile, because the target editor spin buildings in 5° steps.

This has to do by hand. But it is only a first try.

There is a way to reduce it to 1 deg increments using TAE. Possibly with left click or right click on the mouse. Can't remember exactly.

I was able to get exact number degree headings, by just typing them in on the TAE.

I take it the cliffs are lods???

Holding the shift key gives you finer control.

From the readme:

The position and heading of selected objects can be changed with the mouse:

-translation (coarse): ctrl + left click + move
-translation (fine): ctrl + shift + left click + move
-rotation (coarse): ctrl + mouse wheel
-rotation (fine): ctrl + shift + mouse wheel

Correct. The cliffs are made as LOD. GKABS made them for me.

At the moment i make one airbase per day. 38 bases of the RAF are on the map. So you can calculate when the terrain can be finished.

I think X-mas this year is realistic.  Or in two weeks.:drinks:
