For those of you who have made the Third Wire MiG-23MLD flyable or just want the AI flown one more accurate here are some corrections for the MIG-23MLD_DATA.ini file.

Leading edge flaps changed to automatically deploy during hard maneuvers (aka slats), the MLD had automatically deploying LE flaps/slats as part of the type 4 wing (which also changed the mid setting wing angle from 45 to 33 degrees):

I installed the FM and radar updates, but regarding the chaff/flares, does not the MLD carry the chaff and flares over the fuselage?

Yes it did, the pylon dispenser was an  additional one that was installed around the time they deployed to Afganistan. I believe in Afganistan full loads of just flares were carried in all three dispensers since MANPADS were the main threat. But the pylon dispenser like the over fuselage ones could carry chaff or a mix of both.

The wings swing so the lod viewer must be wrong???

Just looked at a Mig-23 manual and wing sweep settings are 16, 45, and 72 degrees. @dtmdragon said that the Mig-23MLD changed this which implies a change to 16, 33, and 72 degrees.

Would this fix the issue?

AnimationID=1 is the wing sweep.
AnimationID=3 is the speed breaks.
AnimationID=4 is the landing gears.
AnimationID=5 is the left main gear shocks.
AnimationID=6 is the right main gear shocks.
AnimationID=7 is the nose gear shocks.
AnimationID=8 is the canopy.
AnimationID=9 is the drag chute.
AnimationID=10 is the engine nozzle.

I could also work on fixing the hit boxes if you want. They are off on just about all of the TW AIrcraft. I was working on a fix for all TW Aircraft and Ground Objects but got distracted from completing it.

Not in my install, KJakker. Are you sure you are looking at the stock  MiG-23MLD? In my install the MiG-23MLD does not have engine nozzle animation.

In terms of the wing sweep if you compare the TW MLA to the MLD in flight with the wings at mid sweep they are diffrent the MLA wings are at 45 and the MLD wings are at 33. This difference is also reflected in the wing sweep figures in each of the data.ini files. So TW got that part right! The MLD wings just need the leading egde flaps changed to automatic angle of attack.

I'm not at home so I cant check the animation number for the wing sweep but as I have said the wings sweep in my game and I haven't changed it??? I think you might be looking at the 3rd party mirage factory MiG-23?

My mistake. I had a Mig-23MLD mod in my SF2 install. Just checked it in another install, you were right about to stock aircraft.

This requires a complete MiG-23MLD update mod lol

BTW, regarding those Afghani skins, will you release them?

9km range setting was only available in "close air combat mode" aka ACM or boresight mode. So best left as it was. Search range setting should be 15km, 30km, 60km and 90km although 15 is an educated assumption as I have only found 30, 60 and 90 referenced in my research.

The KDS-23 dispenser was originally used on MiG-27 and Su-22. For the MiG-23 the central pylon was modified. The designation of the modified pylon was  PKWP-23. It could carry the usual drop tank. In the pylon the dispenser KDS-23 was included.

so it looked in reality:

You see the connection pipe (valve) to the fuel system of the plane and then the 12 cartidges for flares or chaff. Each cartidge had a caliber of 50 mm.

I learn something new every day, and from you a lot of Warsaw pact curiosities, and I really thank you for that.

What puzzles me is being so attached to DDR and the master of SF2 choppers, wyhy in the world you never did this...
