I must correct my statement, that different skins for groundobjects are impossible. They are possible, but only in campaigns. For single missions it does not work.

For using in a campaign you must edit the campaigns data.ini file.

example:

[GroundUnit014]
GroundObjectType=T-54
UnitName=Polski 3. Pulk Czolgow
ForceID=2
Nation=Poland
DefaultTexture=Green                                                                         <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< This line defines the skin of the vehicles of this unit. Here: Green
BaseArea=PQ76/22
RandomChance=100
StartObjects=100
MaxObjects=100
Experience=40
Morale=100
Supply=100
Intelligence=100
UpgradeType=NEVER

[GroundUnit015]
GroundObjectType=T-54
UnitName=Polski 4. Pulk Czolgow
ForceID=2
Nation=Poland
DefaultTexture=Camo1                                                                         <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< This line defines the skin of the vehicles of this unit. Here: Camo1
BaseArea=PQ76/21
RandomChance=100
StartObjects=100
MaxObjects=100
Experience=60
Morale=100
Supply=100
Intelligence=100
UpgradeType=NEVER

Of course you must have the skins Camo1 and Green for the vehicle.

Interestingly in a campaign the insignias will not shown on the groundvehicles, but the tactical numbers and different skins are visible. For single missions insignias and tactical numbers are shown, but no different skins.

If you had read my previous post, I already explained that different skins are possible in campaigns. They are also possible in single missions if you use the Mission Editor or edit the missions manually. Otherwise, single missions generated by the game use Green or Tan as defined in the terrain's.ini. I won't repeat myself a fourth time.

As for tactical number decals working in campaigns, that's no mystery, that's the system the game uses for applying aircraft carrier numbers dynamically. They are in the same ground objects folder family, like all the other stuff.

That model looks FANTASTIC!! However, the only way I could see it working practically is if it's used in either the mobile or static AAA role.

If used in the APC or Tank role you'd find it damn near impossible to pass a formation on the move! :stars:

This is Mobile_AAA. 9K32M (SA-7). But...

Before we had a lonely guy starring at the sky with a fiberglass tube in the middle of nowhere... Silly. So I decided that I want some more background to this. For some middle east scenario, I have two guys in jeepo.. For more formal formations (like Soviet Army) after Gepard's suggestion, I have mounted them with BTR...

And I think BTR adds KPV to AA fire. Not sure because something hit me on my test run...and didn't check who was shooting. But that is the idea. Not a single guy with a launcher posing as 'SAM site' or serious  AA defense.

Was also thinking of adding maybe Strela/Igla guy somewhere near the Command truck or some other AAA or artillery formations (as a part of it) Will see.

Maybe you can create a ISIL (Mujahedeen) squad, for Afghan-Iraq-Syria mods.

For now, I am focusing on the regular armies of the Warsaw Pact and then a few countries that fit into my over Israel, over Iran mod. But also regular armies.

Such inferior formations like ISIL and similar have absolutely my disrespect as groups not lead by any code, morals, principals, etc - meaning I am not gonna waste my time for those (even if it is just a game).

Meanwhile...

finally finished OSA-AKM. and some missiles for it.

This time something not very useful, not even posing a serious threat. Just a piece of equipment to populate airfield areas.

Have to admit, inspired by Gepard's terrain work.

I think 4-5 models more and I will upload something for modders, anytime soon. 2 weeks standard CA time.
