WOFF BH&H II-Mods: There! - 27.01.24

Recommended Posts

Hallo All,

because of the release-distribution via different ways in the past it is difficult to get / keep the overview about the mods, not only for new and returned players. So I decided to open this thread for the BH&H 2-mods with this intention:  The mod-overview for the user via a mod-list and where the user can find the mods.

I will try to keep this mod-list up to date, but it’s only an attempted solution and it’s not my claim to make a complete list. If you miss a mod or see a wrong link please don’t be angry! Then I forgot the mod or the link is wrong, in any case an unintentional mistake of mine simply. And of course I have not any responsibility for use of the mods, whatsoever.

To the modder: Sandbaggers Website is the best solution for the WOFF-mods in my humble opinion. And additionally I would like to recommend the download-sector here at CombatAce. It has a similar good structrure. Please look at both options!

I hope it’s useful! And I recommend expressly to start WOFF and fly the first missions (QC and CM) without any mods after installation of a new patch! If you registrate a mistake, after you have activated a mod in the second step, contact the modder.

Just a quick update to this thread Becker - my Tuner Patches (for WOFF PE/BHAH2, also the one for WOTR), are no longer hosted in my DropBox account but are instead found under this convenient post on CombatAce:

What about 4L0M's Cloud Mod? Is it compatible with BH&H2? It used to be with PE, although made for UE.

Hallo @Dornil,

I haven't seen any information from the modder about the compatibility of this mod in relation to PE or actual for BH&H2. On Sandbaggers Website the mod is for UE. And I don't use it, neither with BH&HII nor with PE before, so I can't say anything about it. If you ask me, try to contact the modder (maybe via E-Mail in the readme?) or open a special thread with your question for all.

Greetings

I just went and tired:) Cloud texture mods seem to be working all right. Clouds do look better, at the cost of some fps though.

Cloud mod. compatible in my BH&H2 install - I use the "1 MB" package - increases quality of clouds but doesn't give an FPS hit as do the 2 MB clouds. Stock clouds are a mix of 512 KB and 1 MB, by the way. I also recommend the Gecko improved water textures pack linked to somewhere under the mods. threads on SimHQ - recommended are the 2 MB water textures - improves quality of water but no FPS hit as with the higher (4 MB, etc.) water textures. I'm also running Olham's rivers mod. that makes the stock river a bit more blue - seems compatible so far.

I've also been running the light, standalone airfields mod. (from the WOFF UE-era), not the full consolidated airfields package, in BH&H2 - and it seems okay so far, with no FPS hit. More info. on that in this post:

Hey VonS, thanks for this! Will give them a try.

With the old lady under the hood, I am looking at only mods that increase FPS or maintains FPS (and certainly no more than a tiny modest increase) - so mentioning FPS experiences is particularly useful, thanks.

Where can I find this?

Was wondering the same thing. I just came across a V1 and a V2 and thought you might meant that (and I expected a lot smaller file size for V1), but alas, that wasn't the case (found on: https://thatoneplease.co/WOFF.html -- under Sky) - no specific 1MB package/option found.

The 4L0M (v1) is  lighter than BB's (which give my system a bit of a wallop - very noticeably so immediately), but how much so I haven't measured yet (nor compared to v2 or stock)).

@Redwolf, I agree - I am only running FPS-friendly mods. in BH&H2 and will avoid the long list of (almost every) mod. that I am running in FrankenWOFF 4.18. Don't want to risk having FPS too low in BH&H2 and have managed, so far, to maintain them at about 70 FPS or so - with my FrankenBHAH Enhancement Package installed.

@Dornil, the cloud mod. packages are at this link:

https://thatoneplease.co/skyWOFF.html

The relevant package is called "Clouds Mod (Version 1.0 and 2.0)."

@Both, I will double-check my clouds pack mod. and will post info. in about 15 mins. - I think that I manually extracted the cloud files I wanted from that package and then made a custom JSGME folder for my own WOFF installs.

EDIT: The 1MB-friendly cloud pack is the "Ver. 2.0" folder; "Ver. 1.0" has larger textures that impact on FPS somewhat.

Cheers,

Von S

Okay, some empirical results from testing (simply from my own personal system, using just Snipes Intercept DFW scenario (same method as in Benchmark Comparisons...thread):

4L0M's Cloud Mod v1.0 : -2.27% FPS vs stock (this is probably within margin of error)

4L0M's Cloud Mod v2.0: - 5.16% FPS vs stock

- so yes, light on FPS hit (and indeed does appear to be a difference between the two, with v1.0 being the gentler of the two. Both look great (though the stock clouds are decent anyway - but prefer the look of the mod instead (more developed verticals, for example).

As with everything, it is a cost-benefit analysis and evaluation for each individual.

Yes, that sounds about right - have also sent you a PM with more info. The ver. 2.0 is by the way the lighter package with more 1 MB sized files; package ver. 1.0 contains more of the larger, 5 MB sized clouds. I am using ver. 2.0 since ver. 1.0 gave me a bigger FPS hit - although these things vary by rig. so perhaps you are getting better results with the bigger, ver. 1.0 pack.

EDIT: Ver. 1.0 contains about six or seven larger (5 MB) cirrus and stratus-type clouds, while Ver. 2.0 reduces those same files to 1 MB in size.

Cheers all,

No typo. And indeed just checked once again. V.1 had the higher FPS average vs. V.2 for some reason (5 run average) -  (though v2 consistently had the higher minimum averages,  even beating stock, however).

Perhaps the bottom line is that they are close, and offer what many may consider an improvement to stock clouds while not generating that much/minimal FPS hit.

Just a brief update to this thread that the links to Xjouve's terrain meshes, water mods., land cover mods., global layer mods., etc. (that are compatible with WOFF UE/PE/also BH2), and originally available under the WOFF threads on SimHQ, are no longer functioning. Xjouve seems to have disappeared from WOFF modding and those links have likely expired in the meantime - I hope he's doing well.

EDIT: Xjouve updated the broken links earlier this year, 2022, so recommended is to double-check relevant links occasionally on the SimHQ WoFF threads for continued functioning of said links.

Hallo @Von S,

Thank you very much for your info! I'm going to update the mod-list for PE on SimHQ the next days with your result. For BH&H2 I haven't added the @Xjouve-mods, because I have no info from him. And you are right: you can't host the mods without permission.

Greetings!

Update 28.12.22: For all mods, which have a download-source in a thread, I have added the according link now, additionally to the thread-title. So you must not search the thread in the forum any longer.

Greetings!

Since BH&H II has stabilized at v1.37 since February 2023 and before the Belgian Expansion is released, are the above listed mods still up to date for the most current version?

Hallo @goose814,

the last WOFF-update is v1.37 from 02.23. In can't remember, that a modder or the community has written about mod-problems with v.1.37. so far. I recommend to use the jsgme-ModEnabler to activate / deactivate a mod. And -if you want to be more sure, because the use of a mod is always at your own risk- ask the modder himself here or / and on SimHQ before you use his mod.

Greetings
