Future plans ?

Recommended Posts

I like WotR. It's really rather good. The Battle of Britain is one of those iconic air battles that has always fascinated me. Historically, up there with WW1's "Bloody April" imo. OBD has done a splendid job to date and the CFS3 engine lends itself well to this period. And now that BH&H Mark II has been completed, may I ask what future plans for WotR are in store for us ?

We are still finishing off the last (?, we hope) patch or so for BH&H II then we shall be able to turn to WOTR.  We hope to release more info on WOTR soon.

Hallo @Trooper117, IMHO after such a long time it is good to make the "Status quo" of the sim. Which features need to / should be improved? Which new features are possible and useful for the existing BoB? And then, as a second step, maybe a new campaign.

Greetings

*sits comfortably in a deck chair, just outside the dispersal hut.  Swats away a lazy bluebottle.  Early sultry summer 1940.  You can hear the wind in the fields grass, the creak of a stool or lawn chair as someone shifts position.  The article on fly fishing the Scottish streams grabs the attention once more...nothing quite like a nervous wait for the scramble phone to dingle...*

Indeed. Looking forward to Rick's final, final, final 1940 Hurricane challenge what! Hmm maybe I should get that T16000m. Buttons on the old MSFFB2 are rather scarce for these hi-tech kites.

I did the last one flying the 109, it was great fun... (it ended for me in the usual way though).  :censored:

Not again! You mean bailing out over the green fields of Kent and being taken in by an attractive, lonely widow in Tunbridge Wells, hidden from the authorities, put on gardening duties and paid in kind for services rendered? You get all the luck Troops!

No mate... it ended up in some shitty Scottish wasteland, freezing our Teutonic nuts off, pestered by goats!

So maybe BoB flyable bombers for a start?

I read on the WotR website that OBD intends to go right through to 1945! Admirable goal but that would be a HUGE project. Looks like I gotta hang around for another 15 years. If I can.

We've had the Battle of Britain, but strangely not the Battle of France...

Haha @catch, you are right! "... 15 years. If I can." is the absolut decisive criterion (grandpa-smiley)!!

We chose Battle of Britain because we believed we could do a better version than many of the others that have been released over time, and BoF is such a short period, so not great to get a career mode going. Loved doing it and really loved making the Hurri and Spitfire. Now we are taking a little break at the moment, then will see where we are...

I was thrilled when OBD announced they would do BoB precisely because of the above statement.

Since there is no official sub-thread "wish list" for WOTR - permit me gents to use this one (briefly) as an ad hoc wish list --- here's wishing that WOTR will eventually get the early Mk.I Hurricane (with fabric-covered wings, two-bladed prop., no self-sealing tanks, and about 1000 HP). Possible also is that there was no WEP power option on the early Mk.I (c. 1937 to 1939), but I will let the WW2 specialists do further research into that. The early Mk.I would fit nicely for Battle of France scenarios, obscure pre-WW2 conflicts, as well as for situations having the occasional early Mk.I available for BoB too, for variety.

Cheers all and happy WOTRing in early WW2 'crates (also happy holidays to all WOTRers/WOFFers),

Von S

The game is in bad need of more flyables. At least finishing out the important planes like the stuka, hampden and 110, and maybe even the fairey battle, defiant, 406 or 520, as well as other me109 and hurri and spitfire mk's. I know it takes work and time but it is one reason I have not gotten off the fence.

Understood, there will be more flyables.  For the WOTR expansion currently in development, I am working on a virtual cockpit as we speak.  However, yes as it takes a lot of time and work, without support from sales we'll never get there !  Kind of catch 22 there. (Sorry to use your name in vain catch ;)).

WOTR has something (like WOFF)  and that's a real depth, a full on immersive campaign, and great A.I. to fly with and against.  So that has to count for something other than "more flyables".  There are sims out there that have many flyables and nothing substantial to fly them in.

Lol I used to be catch22 in a previous life in a now defunct OFF forum from the olden times. Aye lad, them was the days!

I'm just amazed that you two OBD guys are still at it. Talk about fortitude and dedication. Admirable.

Gimmie a week or so, I am going to buy this and the DLC to help the project,

I guess what sucks is one sale really does not go very far, nor does it pay someones wage for even a month. Thats what sucks these days. People throw millions of dollars away on Corporate publisher controlled gaming that has really become a sea of garbage and just gets worse every year.  There is no standard anymore. And the sheep out there keep wasting money on garbage games they may play a week or less because of rampant ADHD (so many games coming out weekly that they cant even focus and complete one without losing interest) and yet they bitch on steam and other forums constantly, admitting they are disgusted with the state of gaming. I wish a lot of hat money would go to more indie developers  (like WOFF and others)and other small teams of game developers who really embrace the old school approach of being gamers themselves and developing something they play and love as well.

Even my son complains about all the garbage "games in name only". Even  being generation Z , he embraces indie games or classic titles like I do because of how bad the gaming market is these days Its just become a sea of garbage or developers who scam their consumers by abandoning games on purpose then repeating the crime. I have seen so much of that in the last 5 years because of zero enforcement. I am just so disgusted with the gaming market. I know many others who feel the same way.

Anyway keep up the good work. I hope the projects never die due to lack of funds.
