The OLD wheels are spinning again!

F-86 AGGRESSOR SQUADRON?

After tinkering around with different downloads , I decided to build an Aggressor Squadron and fight the 86 with itself....

I think Sabres did see some aggressor use in the US - as a MiG-15/17-proxy.

Here's a little something you can try for an aggressor. The insignia is the "Circle Trigon Party" insignia used by US Army aggressor forces during the Cold War. I've used it on "QB-29s" (Tu-4s with the crew and weapons removed)

They used F-86Hs, IIRC, to stand in for Vietnamese MiG-17s, i wish we had some of these available.

I've been telling people that I've had Zur's MAX files for the F-86H since (at least!!!) 2015. Haven't had ANY takers yet

I doubt there is anything i could be able to do with it, but just out of curiosity, what is missing? Animations, FM, textures? Everything but the 3d model?

it's 'in game' and flys., i'm sure some FM refinements might be necessary. It needs more animations*, and mapping. right now, it's just the max material for "skin". maybe pylons and whatnots. uses the late-model F cockpit from KAW (the imported one)

*all control surfaces work, canopy animation needs adding. each landing gear is it's own seprete one -which seems odd; shouldn't they be linked together??

I downloaded both H models from the SFP1 Dev A-Team.

Interesting models.

Surprisingly their FM has no afterburner.

Had asked if there had been any further developments.

With the 6 3 wing and slats plus wing tips a proper F-86F-40 could be developed.

and my sig, too

======

the mapping on theirs is , um,  more than a bit outdated. simple flat right/left which induces disortions on curves.

no, I'm just gonna say --- the mapping is piss poor. I had the skins (may have tossed them months ago), but not the model. It was the cause of a not-so-little amount of "wheeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth". End result, things didn't go so well.

=======

as to a proper slatted 6-3 F-40, we'd need a whole new model. I don't think Zur still has the original max files from 2003 that we could adapt. Pity, that. Nobody's done more Sabres around here than me!

Your  beautiful work Wrench on the Red Star Sabre is part what inspired me with the Aggressor Sabers.

Still don't know how to skin.

But I can cut and paste.....:biggrin:

      I've been lucky enough to be stationed over in the US for a over a year now. The RAF Voyager tanker deployed for Red Flag were kind enough to allow me and other members of the unit on a flight.
