I don't suppose there's anyway to get it work?? Just curious.

one could always "fake it" with a green-tinted LLTV, maybe??

My understanding is IRST systems don't necessarily display an IR image but show azimuth and altitude (no range) of a detected target on the Radar scope. Can be used to cue the radar range gate to sweep out in a narrow beam towards it from range 0 until lock on.

I'll check it out later, but wasn't there a way to use the targeting pod functions to lock on air contacts already, or did I dream we had TISEO?

funny thing about TISEO,  was developed for a2a work but most utilized for a2g work by the Phantom units that had them. would have been for visual target ID in any case not so much for targeting (you had to get the  camera on target for it to be effective, not the camera got pilot eyes on target)

that is what i found out when i try to get the TISEO working , for air to ground missions it can be a big help especially when you going to use the gun , it works very limited on air to air mission because the TISEO is not locking on to a target and to hold a moving target in the scope is not easy

F-4E_78 with TISEO

I'm kinda surprised that TK didn't implement an IRST on the NA Tomcat. It would have been cool to have that implemented for missions

The fact that he didn't makes me feel as if there is some technical issue preventing him from doing so, it seems like it would have been simple otherwise to enable something like the targeting pods-TV bombs for air targets.

You can fake a IRST by mounting a non- lauching IRM in the nose. Just select it like a any other weapon. If you have a HUD it will show up as IRM LOCK icon. Other than that the  only other cue you will get is the IRM Audio CUE. On your "Fake ISRT/IRM" you have too extend the seeker range too match the detection range of your IRST. I have done this before. It does work but using your radar is better.

But IRST is totally passive, while radar is not. Nice method to add it into the game Crazy!

I'm testing the IRST function with the MiG-29UB. I started from the Crazy method. Basically these are the data of the AA-8. I've created a fake IRST Loadout.

I need to increase the IR detection range...
