Still got more of those coming, just very slowed down at the moment. next batch will be G and H from 88-90. and yes it will be huge. are you a member of the B-52 page on FB Ron? lots of good stories and pics on there, and i've gotten alot of help from some former crew chiefs hunting down nose arts and eras (some are even gonna be included in the appropriate spots on these finished birds)

Thanks for the reply. Yep, I'm getting from yours and KB's responses that I need much bigger flights to pull this off. A question I have for you and KB, is whether I should prioritize secondary targets with my ASM equipped aircraft? Or in other words, If I have a flight of 4 loaded up with Walleye Mk.23 II's, would that be enough to go against the primary carrier target, leaving me to concentrate my 2nd & 3rd flights on secondaries like SAM equipped frigates? [Edit] Oh and the game does seem to generate some decent support packages for me. The bigger problem I have with them is they often don't get to the target on time. I always fly the designated altitudes and speeds of the waypoints up to the ingress point, but I often find CAP and Escort flights lingering behind. That often forces me to slow down and command my wingman/flights to rejoin formation. That works, but it's not a given that those support packages won't eventually just piss-off and do their own thing somewhere else in theater. That said, I've been impressed with how well some of my escorts have given the floggers a real ass-kicking - especially those glorious and faithful Tomcats.

I have as the final mission of Nihon Hitori 2020 (Japan Alone 2020) two flights of F-2As going after a Russian surface task force hell-bent on resupplying the Kurils and led by the Slava-class destroyer Varyag. It will take two, yes two, large groupings of F-2As lobbing anti-ship missiles (ASMs) to overwhelm the Varyag and its escorts. You are also highly recommended to pack IR-guided or Laser-guided bombs for many ASMs will not make it past the warships to the cargo ships. Also F-15Js will provide top cover as you can expect Foxhounds & Flankers to attempt to intercept. Just like the real world...

Customise your loadouts. For example F-4Ks (off Ark Royal) with TV Martels will do nicely against the Kiev battle group (or go with more realistic Buccaneers if your computer can handle the high-poly models). I"ve also upgraded my Martels with armor-piercing warheads (which are more realistic than HE). Go big with your roster. I take 12 birds in my strike flights, plus the computer-assigned SEAD and CAP flights etc (think Alpha Strike). For US missions my first 8 strike birds carry Standard ARMs, the last 4 carry Walleyes for the coup de grâce. Go low. Under 100 feet will do nicely. Your AI wingmen will do their own thing, but it will help you survive against the SAMS. My AI F-4s are customised with a lower-altitude flight model, which helps them a little. Go slow. I throttle my F-4 back to 50% so I can get all four Martels off the rails and keep them out in front. Then I hit the "burners. Stay out of the engagement zone of the rotary cannons, they're deadly! FWIW I use the 'classic' Iceland terrain, and my difficulty setting is normal. I actually have a cloned UK-only version of the terrain for Royal Navy missions, which gives me a "Commando Carrier' amphibious group, and prevents US Navy flights launching from Ark Royal--nice but not necessary. Hope it helps, happy hunting! KB

On Friday morning, 19 July 1957, a USAF F-89J serial number 53-2547 under Project Plumbbob, launched a Genie MB-1 unguided rocket at an altitude 18500 feet over NTS Area 10. After reaching Mach 3 and traveling 4250 meters in 4.5 seconds its W-25 warhead was detonated by a signal from a ground station. The resulting explosive yield was 1.7 kilotons. MB-1 named Shot John was the first and only fired live, nuclear-armed, air to air anti-aircraft missile. real photo. Photo courtesy of National Nuclear Security Administration/Nevada Field Office.

as to the nation showing in the drop down, does your aircraft skin folder have a decal for that nation? years ago hgbn i think posted a similar issue and the solution was to have a blank DecalLevel=0 (nation) tga and appropriate mention in the decal.ini. iirc their original issue was that the marking were on skin, and the nation wouldnt pop up in drop down. but the solution might fight from what im reading . blank decal can be name whatever, and 6x6 size, just make sure its labeled for the nation you want, ie whatever233.tga

I appreciate the help from russouk2004, but please do not mix my mod with his nations.ini. It would create a lot of issues decal wise. As I explained earlier, as long as the mod is fully installed, nations' numbers match the numbers of the additional decals listed in the reworked alias.lst file (included with the mod). If Ireland is Nation219 instead of 230, the game will spawn planes with Russian decals instead! (or whatever 219 is). My mod does work. Please, first try it on a clean mod folder. Last but not least, are you on the latest patch level (Jul 2013)? This nations.ini is meant to work with the latest patch. Anything earlier, and some stock nations were even missing (some Oman decals and others were added at a later date, don't know exactly when). If even after such tests, it doesn't work, attach your own nations.ini. There's no magic to it. If something's wrong with the file, I would notice.

It respawns bombs and missiles as they were at the beginning of the mission. Silly anecdote: After triggering external stores jettison, it won't won't work anymore, at least not really:

Being on active duty for many of the years of it, I've always been morbidly fascinated by the question: what if the Cold War had run hot....Since the RCAF was tasked with TacNuke Strikes in the Fulda Gap, I tried to imagine what it would look like. Low, Fast, and Lethal.

Here we go again...these wish lists pop up regularly every 1-2 years... Let's face it: TK won't expand SF2. Even if he does he has his own vision and wouldn't consider these wishes. Therefore, if you want new features, you have to do it yourself! Multiple options here: Extending the SF2 game engine: Because of non-access to source code, you have to "hack" the binary. -> In my opinion not viable. Waiting for the release of the source code. -> Will never happen! Write you own combat flight simulator: From scratch. -> Too much of an effort! Use/modify existing (open) source code. -> A little less effort than 2.1.) I'm a big fan of the open source flight simulator FlightGear. It has already the following features: world wide terrain weather FDM engines multiplayer rudimentary combat support via addons (e.g. Bombable,...) ultra flexible It's only missing some minor things as game play, dynamic campaign, AI, .... Anyway, I'm currently experimenting with converting SF2 aircraft to be usable in FlightGear. Maybe thats a start...

Sadly some EAW graphics remain out-dated and will never be fixed. The aircraft and TMods look great, but the problem is in the terrain tile system. Flying close to the ground you see the individual pixels, because a terrain tile has a side length which is equivalent to 4096 metres. With 256x256 pixel tiles that means that a single pixel is 16 metres x 16 metres. Compared to the much finer resolution in the TMods and the aircraft the terrain resolution is pathetic, and the TMods stand out like dogs' balls on a canary
