JSF_Aggie's awesome South West USA terrain is available in the downloads section, however that is a Groom Lake airfield model I've made that is currently in wip for a future update to it. I've added a couple more bits to the final version below including the fuel farm & ammunition storage at the south end and permanent 737 JANETs (big thank you to Soulfreak) at the passenger terminal:

Irkut Corporation (Yakovlev) Yak-130F - 21st Fighter Squadron, Finnish Air Force, 2017 At the end of the Cold War the Finnish Air Force relaxed it's policy of alternating it's combat aircraft purchases between Soviet and Western types and replaced both the Saab Draken and the MiG-21 with American F-18C and D Hornets with the F-18C's being assembled by Valmet in Finland. Soon after Finland declared that all the provisions of the Paris Peace Treaties, including those limiting the size and scope of it's armed forces, were nullified. This closed the door on Russian exports to Finland until September 2011 when, unexpectedly, the Libyan National Transitional Council cancelled Libya's order for six Yak-130 advanced jet trainers. Almost immediately, the Russian Government instructed the Irkut Corporation to offer these aircraft to Finland at a discounted and allegedly heavily subsidised price. The six Yak-130's were delivered to the Finnish Air Force Academy in Tikkakoski with the first aircraft arriving in November 2012. Finnish Air Force officials were so impressed with the Yak-130 that they recommended to the Finnish Ministry of Defence to make a further purchase of the Yak-130 but specifically tailored to the light attack role and with the benefit of reducing the number of aircraft required for the Hornet replacement programme (later re-named as the HX Fighter Program). With input from the Irkut Corporation and the Finnish Air Force a new export version of the Yak-130 was quickly drafted and offered to the Finnish Government as the Yak-130F (F=Finlyandiya). In March 2013 Finland ordered 14 Yak-130F's for delivery during 2015 and 2016. Entering service with the newly re-formed Fighter Squadron 21 at Pirkkala in May 2016 the aircraft operate in the light attack role with a recent upgrade allowing them to use GBU-32 and GBU-38 precision guided munitions. UPDATE: I finally managed to finish working on the pilot's record page. It was a lot of work cleaning the codes and reorganized everything while placing the new GUI into it. The feedbacks are appreciated. I always look for the ways to improve the screen. Here is the screenshot:

On patrol with Esc 48... our new Nieuports are performing well against the Fokkers. Flying today in such lovely weather one could almost forget there was a war on. The patrol is led by Adjutant de Turenne, an experienced flyer. We approach the lines... we have to be very alert as the enemy are sending up frequent patrols. My little 'office' in the sky... I feel at home in here now.

The aircraft is also actively marketed for export by Yakovlev, the Irkut company, and by Rosoboronexport. The Yak-130 combat trainer was selected as the winner of the trainer competition of the Voyenno Vozdushnyye Sily, Russian Federation Air Force, in April 2002. The aircraft is also actively marketed for export by Yakovlev, the Irkut company, and by Rosoboronexport. The Russian Air Force has a future requirement for 300 Yak-130 aircraft that can be deployed as a light strike aircraft or as a trainer for a range of fourth or fifth-generation fighters. An order was placed for the first 12 aircraft to replace ageing Aero Vodochody L-39 Albatros in 2002. The aircraft entered service in the Russian Federation Air Force at the military pilot training academy in Krasnodar in July 2009 and was showcased in the MAKS 2009 air show. The production line for the aircraft at the Aviation Plant Sokol in Nizhny Novgorod, known as NAZ Sokol, is fully operational and the roll out of the first production series aircraft took place in May 2003. A series of flight tests of the serial production aircraft was started in April 2004. The Russian Air Force ordered official testing in May 2005. The full trials of the advanced combat trainer, including spin and combat tactics trials, were completed in December 2009 prior to delivery of the first two production aircraft to the Russian Air Force. The first Yak-130 ordered by the Russian Air Force completed its flight acceptance test at Sokol in August 2009. The Russian Air Force received the first four of 12 Yak-130s between February 2010 and April 2010. Another five aircraft were delivered in April 2011. In December 2011, the Russian Ministry of Defence placed an order with Irkut for the delivery of 55 Yak-130 combat trainers by 2015. The first batch of six aircraft was delivered to the Russian Air Force in October 2012. The second batch of three Yak-130s was delivered in November 2012. The aircraft deliveries were completed in early 2015. The Russian Air Force commenced pilot training operations of the new Yak-130 combat aircraft in April 2013, however a Yak-130 plane crashed near Akhtubinsk in the Astrakhan region in April 2014. The aircraft performed a flight with advanced digital avionics suite developed by KRET in June 2014. *********************************************** Finally the bird is here! I confess that I did all that I could and depended on me for that aircraft to be a winner. I couldn't have done that without the help of my chosen team and some other good guys from CombatAce who helped also to the big push. I also included a custom setting version of the plane as I let you all know from the aircraft thread.Essentially the same plane with some custom decals, custom adjusted paintjobs, DDS/DXT3 aircraft holes textures, aircraft texture tweak (engine exhauster fake mesh) and an Insky Team cockpit (edited to have characters in Russian rather than Chinese).I also included a set of some stock white Arab serial numbers for the Syrian paintjob. Aircraft general features: - canopy animation (SHIFT+0) - aircraft workable slimmers (CTR+L) - two different fueltanks models (see aircraft texture folders) depending on the chosen aircraft skin. - custom fueltank to match the default aircraft texture colors/paintjob. - YAK-130 gundpod model special crafted for this edition - bump maps (normal maps) - Custom modified entries on aircraft wing to match ECM symetrical pods models (TALISMAN). - some modified textures for the cockpit to match Russians language. - regular aircraft night lights. - a suitable weapons collection hand picked by me for this very plane. - constructor logo special decals - special Russian Airforce decals - original paintjobs, including the factory prototype one. - superb/realistic pilot models - engine smoke/vapors realistic effect - custom made engine intake decals - special/bonus BELARUS paintjob custom made for the launching aircraft event. - Data.ini (engine section) /optional entries for an afterburner version. - Two cockpit models available, one for the custom edition, one for the 1.0 regular version. Take your pick :) ******************************************* Install instructions: - Copy DECALS, WEAPONS folders into StrikeFighter2XXX\Objects folder - Copy YAK-130 folder into aircraft folder - Copy SOUNDS folder in the StrikeFighters2XXX\Sounds folder - Copy Effects folder into StrikeFighters2XXX\Effects folder For Custom edition go to Yak-130_custom_edition folder and - drop the aircraft folder into X:\StrikeFighters2X\Objects\Aircraft\ folder - drop the decals folder into X:\StrikeFighters2X\Objects\ folder ******************************************* CREDITS: - Project sponsor, project manager, cockpit textures editing, aircraft texture tweak (engine exhauster fake mesh - for the custom version), paintjob & avionics tweaks, hangar & loading screens, damage Holes DDS texture files, additional decals, additional weapon textures & editing, data.ini tweaks (UllyB) - Design, 3D modelling, decals, aircraft textures, bump maps (normal maps), slimmers & aircraft animations (AngelP) - SU-27 cockpit (YEYEYE) - (modified) Cockpit for the custom edition.(Insky Team) - Pilots model (GKABS) - special custom made BELARUS skin for the aircraft launching event made by Bazillius. - K-36D Seat model - All credits go to its author. - Effects (CleanExhaustEmitter special effect) (Guuruu) - Weapons (Snailman) - Sounds - The sounds I included along with the plane I hand picked them in all those years from different modes so all the credits for them goes to their authors. - Testers (Bazillius, Logan4, Baffmeister) - Project FM supervisor (Baffmeister) - Project technical special advisor (Logan4) - Special thanks to Stratos who had a big contribution for this project to exist. - Special thanks to Bazillius for his superb bonus BELARUS skin. Everyone, I FINALLY DID IT!!! After reinstalling GIMP 2, I just realized something. I had "RLE compression" enabled each time I save .tga file all along. THIS is what caused .tga files not apearing in SF2. Now that I am able to save the file while unchecking "RLE compression", my new .tga icon / shapes shows up in SF2! I am relieved now! Thank you everyone!!!

UPDATE: About the hangar screen, I was looking through SF2 aircraft hangar screen. I realized one thing, it looks stretched when using it in 1920 x 1080 mode. That is a problem if I decide to apply hangar GUI over each of SF2 aircraft's hangar. It won't look good, and I don't want it to ruin SF2 new menu / GUI. Instead, I'll just use hangar as background as shown in the screenshot. That way it won't look bad. However, about the real photo, I am concerned about the copyright, so I'll use default SF2 for now. About the real photo, I decided to test it with the new hangar GUI template, it came out great! That way, if you want to use any picture, you can use it with the template. Here are the results: NOTE: You will notice a few things missing, compared to an in-game. That is because it is a background image file that will be used in SF2. The sim will have the texts and buttons appearing over it. At the same time, I noticed something interesting; I noticed inactive "FLY NOW" codes in loadout, planning, and roster screen .ini files. So if anyone wants to see "LAUNCH" button enabled in these screen, let me know. For now, I think it is practical to keep each screen clean and informative as possible.

I should think that an aircraft wot shoots holes in the engine cowling lacks a certain panache as a fighting aeroplane. It looks to me that Biggles is the test pilot. Showing off as usual ....

I read on my source that they only made 65 machines. Three were sent for testing to the western front but were rejected as not being suitable because of being underpowered. Palmed off to the Russians who upgraded the engines they proved quite successful in their war. Reminds me of the P39 in WWII, very popular in Russia (they loved the tricycle landing gear and its low level performance) but relegated to Pacific backwaters in US service. I wonder why our lot (Australia) did not sell the Boomerang fighter to the Russkis as well.

I thought that might ruffle some feathers! I mean, for what you guys are working with as a base, it is terrific. The scenery is very convincing (in fact, a lot more so than many sims out there), the aircraft are pretty decent. The clouds could do with a complete overhaul (my opinion ) but with the cloud fog effect turned on they do the job of getting me hopelessly lost from the rest of my flight so can't really complain too much. Performance is spot on too in fairness, not one issue on my rig. What matters though is the feeling in the 'pit and it is most certainly an exhilarating place to be so hats off to you guys. I'd love to see this Sim get a much larger following so will do my best to spread the good word around social media etc. Thanks for the Welcome everyone and looking forward to harassing you all for pointers!! Here's the beer

In the graphics world this is not a slur gents. The demands of the two graphic engines are different. The imagery they both create is amazing, so kudos to both sims. I would stay the firing squad.

Welcome to the asylum er briefings tent...where everything is jolly until someone loses an EIII. I don't say a whole lot in here, but I've been around since WOFF BHAHII was OFF 2 iirc on a CD. I have sim flown RoF & IL2Flying Circus for the co-op MP and enjoyed those iterations. For SP pure DiD immersion its WOFF ( and WoTR) in campaign form. Otherwise it's tabletop Fight in the Skies (TSR- ancient pre Dawn Patrol version) with models or the venerable Avalon Hill offering 'Richtofen's War'. Kind regards, Dave
