7 pointsWith a touch of sadness, I locked my old Battle of Britain terrain into a back up folder, but only a touch, because the new Battle of Britain terrain is absolutely gorgeous. Can you believe the way this looks?

3 pointsView File Battle of Britain 2 Terrain Operation Seelöwe Battle of Britain 2 Terrain Operation Seelöwe ***************************************************** This mod is made for SF2E. ---------------------------------------------------------- I. Battle of Britain 2 terrain Operation Seelöwe is a complete rework of my Battle of Britain terrain from 2009. It is completly new tiled, to give it a much better look. Each tile has now a size of 1024x1024 pixel, what is 4 times higher than in the old terrain. The terrain is made with "Operation Seelöwe" in mind. This operation was a german military plan from 1940 to land with strong forces on english soil. This operation was planed in a timeframe from summer till early autumn 1940. Thatswhy i made no seasoned tileset. To simulate the ground battles after the german invasion i set some german beachheads on the map, so that now CAS missions can be flown. The area of Londow along the river Themse is new tiled by using satellite images. To hold the frame rate of the game as high as possible, i made the rivertiles not as tga files, but as ordinary jpg files. Thatswhy you will not find waves and reflexions on the river Themse and the most other rivers in this terrain. The City of London is populated with house blocks. So is is destroyable by bomb raids. The airfields in Britain are made by using old air footages from WW2. The design of the german bases is fiction. I was not able to find air footages from 1940 for this airfields. Please make sure, that your bombers have the setting MinBaseSize=MEDIUM in their data.ini of the plane. Otherwise the bombers will also use fighter bases. At the moment Battle of Britain 2 terrain contains 312 target areas. Some target areas are named PQsomething. PQ comes from the german word "Planquadrat", which is in english "grid". I decided to use the term PQ to simulate german planningmaps. The terrain comes with two new nations. First the Luftwaffe of the Third Reich and the fictionary Deutsche Luftstreitkräfte of the Republic of Germany. Both nations have own insiginas, which you can select for single missions. The swastika i made only in a "camouflaged" version, because in Germany it is not allowed to handle this symbol in a game. I have also moded the missioncontrol.ini file. Now the planes are closer to their base when they start a landing approach. The terrain comes with 3 campaigns. No.1 is Operation Seelöwe, the german invasion in Britain in late summer 1940 No.2 is the so called Nonstop Offensive, the british air strikes over the Channel in 1941 No.3 is Operation Seelöwe in 1956 with a fiction Republic of Germany as invader. For the campaigns you need following planes: BF109E-4 by RussoUK https://combatace.com/files/file/14035-bf109e-47z/ Ju-88A-1 by Veltro2k https://combatace.com/files/file/15445-junkers-ju-88-a1/ Do-17P by Veltro2k https://combatace.com/files/file/15196-dornier-do-17p/ Spitfire Mk.1 by TMF https://combatace.com/files/file/13510-sf2-ww2-spitfire-mk1a-by-mod-mafiatmf/ Hurricane IA by Raven https://combatace.com/files/file/13646-sf2-ww2-hawker-hurricane-ia-etobob-by-raven/ WW2 RAF Bombers pack by Wrench https://combatace.com/files/file/13795-sf2-ww2-raf-bombers-pak/ For the german 1956 campaign you need a MiG-17 cockpit The best is made by Stary https://combatace.com/files/file/12684-mig-15-mig-15-bis-mig-17-cockpit/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------- II. CREDITS: While making Battle of Britain 2 terrain i used a lot of files made by other modders. Thanks for this files! The tileset is basing on Jan Tumas tileset for First Eagles The most tod files are made by me, but i also used files made by Stary. The white cliffs objects are made by GKABS. The airfield objects are made by Geezer. Some hangars are taken from AirfieldDevKit_v1.1 The Robinson hangars are made by RussoUK2004 The industrial factories are made by Geezer. The fortification objects are made by Geezer. The cargoships which you find in London Docks are made by Nils 'Julhelm' Dücker I hope that have nobody forgotten. ---------------------------------------------------------- III. INSTALLATION: -Unzip the folders into your SF2 mod folder ---------------------------------------------------------- IV. For remarks, comments, bugs, etc please use the forum or send me a PM. ------------------------------------------------------------- V. Battle of Britain 2 terrain Operation Seelöwe and all of his parts are FREEWARE. COMMERCIAL USE IS NOT ALLOWED! ------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ Hope you enjoy it. 2 pointsU-105 off Freetown, Sierra Leone, September 1941 One of my favourite U-boat books is Robert C Stern's Battle Beneath the Waves (Cassell, 2002) which tells the stories of selected boats in both World Wars. He recounts that shortly before she was lost off West Africa after an unusual surface slugging match with USS Buckley in May 1944, Type IX boat U-66, harassed from the air, signalled to Befehlshaber der U-boote 'Central Atlantic Worse than Biscay'. The latter bay being traditionally where air power made life most difficult for U-boats by about 1942. Well, that's how I felt, not long after my role-played Flotille Chef at the online Doenitz Elite Flotilla assigned us to return to the seas off Freetown for all of two weeks, for our second full patrol. The full story of the first patrol, written in the form of illustrated extracts from U-105's Kreigstagebuch or war diary, you can find here: http://www.donitzeliteflotilla.com/forum/index.php?topic=3368.0 (this was recorded as two patrols as it involved a refuelling stop at a covert supply ship in the Canary Islands - all very hush-hush, or sehr Gekados if you like). Second patrol, things started happily enough at Lorient. Crew on deck, we slipped out of our berth, to the accompaniment of the quayside band playing and the nurses throwing flowers. Clear of port and with the open seas ahead, we bade farewell to our minesweeper escort. There was nothing much to tell for the next ten days or so, as we ploughed our way southwards at economical cruising speed, increasing revolutions to transit the Bay of Biscay and the seas west of the big enemy naval and air base at Gibraltar. Sometimes the weather was good; other times, not so good. Other times again, it was a bit of a mixture. Our first encounter came en route and in darkness, when our alert bridge watch spotted a steamer showing no lights and sailing independently. She was unarmed, so we sank her with our 10.5cm deck gun. A few days later, also in darkness, the tables were turned. We were surprised on the surface by two escorts, obviously radar-equipped, who drove us down and depth-charged us mercilessly. But fortunately without serious effect. All we could do was track them on the hydrophones, while creeping away. We escaped eventually, and ran into a second freighter a few days later. It didn't go well for her... ...and she slipped below the waves soon after desperately firing off some futile distress flares. About the time we arrived in our patrol area SSW of Freetown, the weather finally improved again. So, why 'worse than Biscay', then? Well, that'll come next! ...to be continued!

2 pointsHi all, a new update for WOFF to V1.12 is now available. Version 1.12 24 May 2021 1) Fixed a ground unit collision avoidance issue for aircraft that are Going Home or RTB. 2) Removed some Telephone poles from a/g_generic_3 type Airfield facilities that would sometimes cause a collision avoidance issue with landing aircraft. Please see our Website for details. Thanks to AlbertTross for the image!

2 pointsI haven't made a vid in some time and it jolly well shows lol. I need lotsa practice to get my hand in again. Rick Rawlings has been churning out some beauties lately and he did say pics/vids are welcome in the accounts for the upcoming final, final challenge. So here's a quickie before the fun begins ....

2 pointsMan, I made a ride over London and what a experience!!!! There´s no parallel in this game! Simply awesome!!! It´s the first time in SF serie that I overflew a large city and the best - with very high FPS. I confess I was afraid of that. The airfields are unique and perfect. The map is useful until DDAY as there was no frontline change. I´m very much impressed with the work and I imagine how hard it was. Congratulations Gepard!!!!!!!!!!

1 pointView File Mirage F1CK2 Mirage F1CK2 This mod is dedicated to BPAO, nothing would have been possible without him. In 1974 the Mirage F1 was selected as the new air defence fighter and a total of 27 Mirage F1CK, 9 Mirage F1CK2 and 7 Mirage F1BK were ordered and delivered in two separate batches until 1983. Specificities : Radar Cyrano IVM. RWR. A big thank to all on Combatace and C6 forums that helped us solving issues we encountered. Any omission in credits is totally unwanted, if I forgot somebody, let me know, I will correct this. This addon is and will in all cases remain freeware. Released under CombatAce Fair-Use terms. 1 pointbeautiful stuff. I was wondering if you care to take the time but any chance of getting this (and possibly other) vehicles without the crewman? As great as these objects are it just doesn't look right when I use these in bases with large amounts of parked vehicles.

1 pointThank you for the feedback! I am very happy you enjoyed it a lot! About the hangar pictures, I am truly honored! That is awesome news! I am going to keep expanding this mod for the community through time. About the feedback: 1) I will start working on templates for all screens. That way anyone can change the background pictures behind the GUI. 2) About SF2 icon, that is understandable. I will see what I can do about making it sharper. 3) hat makes sense. How about this, I'll make a multi-version of different button colors for the various buttons. That way people can pick any colors to their own liking? The more customization, the merrier. Cheers!

1 pointOur first encounter with aircraft isn't long in coming. We're forced to dive by two approaching Whitleys, but get down into the cellar before being spotted. Next thing you know, it's a pair of Catalinas... ...and this time, we get strafed and bombed, for our troubles. But there's a consolation prize - when the flying boats are gone, we're able to run down a large freighter and sink her in a gun action. Soon afterwards, the Whitleys are back on our case. To make matters worse, I've picked this time to bring externally-stowed torpedo reloads into the boat, and can't instantly crash dive. The flak gunners have been standing by and do their best... ...but we are machine-gunned and bombed heavily. By some miracle, we're finally able to get away below, without been blown out of the water. The very next day, no sooner have we repaired the damage, a Catalina is after us; happily we get into the cellar before he can bomb us. Later that day, a pair of Hudsons shows up, and this time they let us have it. So there you have it - 'Central Atlantic worse than Biscay'! The only good thing - apart from the fact we haven't been sunk or had crew casualties - is that we've been allocated a wider patrol area by our human role-playing HQ. The further away from land-based aircraft I can get on this patrol, the happier I will be!
