Dear Pilots! Happy Holidays to everyone in the IL-2 Sturmovik community! May it be filled with good health, family, friends and lots of time to play your favorite virtual air combat simulation! Today’s Developer Diary is a showcase of the beautiful P-51B which we are working very hard to finish for you by the end of the month. Just some minor bugs are left along with still finishing the tricky Malcolm Hood. We also have some shots of some new combat vehicles for you to check out like the M8 Greyhound and Universal “Bren Gun” Carrier Mk. II. And we have a new good looking USAAF bomber crewman model to show you. The fur sure looks look warm! We’re working as hard as we can to end this challenging 2021 strong so wish us luck as we battle to get things done! Enjoy! The Sturmovik Team

View File Polish-Russian War - Russian Tachanka A tachanka was a horse drawn wagon or cart with a heavy machine gun mounted on the back. This made it possible to deploy machine guns quickly, especially on the wide, rapidly changing, Eastern Front. It was used by Russian cavalry in WWI and by Bolshevik, White Russian, Ukrainian, and Polish cavalry in the Russian Civil Wars. Germany used a similar vehicle on the Eastern Front during WWI. My tachanka is a troika (three horse carriage) with a Vickers machine gun facing the rear. It functions in First Eagles as a Truck; drop it into your Ground Objects folder and First Eagles will assign it to some of your Armed Reconnaissance missions. The machine gun is set for AA and will fire at enemy planes that come within its field of fire. The download includes three LODs and a destroyed version. My thanks to Gepard for suggesting this interesting vehicle. Installation Instructions For both FE1 and FE2 Unzip the file and open my "GroundObject" folder. Copy the folder named "Tachanka" to your FirstEagles/Objects/GroundObject folder. Then copy the file named "TachankaDestroyed.bmp" into your GroundObject folder. Note that the "TachankaDestroyed.bmp" file should not be inside any other folder. Submitter Stephen1918 Submitted 12/17/2021 Category First Eagles - WWI and Early Years - Object Mods

The US State Department has approved the sale of heavy trucks worth an estimated USD445 million, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) announced on 1 July. The DSCA said the approval covered a total of 517 Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Trucks (HEMTTs) and Heavy Equipment Transporters (HETs), both of which are made by Oshkosh, but provided a breakdown that only added up to 369. This included 188 M985A4 HEMTT Guided Missile Transporters. 100 HEMTT M978A4 fuel tankers. 31 HEMTT M984A4 recovery variants and 50 M1070A1 HETs. It also listed 50 Fontaine 635NL trailers for the HETs, 49 Oshkosh M1076A0 Palletised Load System (PLS) trailers and an unspecified number of Etnyre M1077 flatrack dismountable beds for the PLS trailers. “Kuwait will use these heavy vehicles to transport and support heavy equipment, including their legacy M1A2 tanks and their new M1A2K main battle tank slated for delivery in 2021,” the DSCA said. The US Department of Defense (DoD) announced in July 2020 that the contract to deliver 217 M1A2K tanks to Kuwait had been modified to “adjust the delivery schedule”, putting its estimated completion date back to 30 June 2022. No deliveries have been reported yet. Kuwait already has an unknown number of HEMTTs: the DoD announced in March 2018 that it had awarded a USD15.4 million contract to Oshkosh to deliver an unspecified number of Guided Missile Transporter, recovery, tractor, and artillery rocket resupply variants to it and Qatar.

Sad day for the ANG Tanker folks $$$ Let me clarify.........I can not speak for the Active Duty 'BUFF' or Tanker folks, I can only assume most of the crews were tired of pulling alert once a month for a week at a time. For the ANG Tanker crews; especially the 'Weekend Warriors' or 'Guard Bums' as we called ourselves, it was a chunk of our income gone. Trying to create a somewhat reasonable stand-in cockpit here...we'll see, if it works.
