Fans of ThirdWire's Strike Fighters, I'm glad to announce the Christmas release of Operation Desert Storm: 30th Anniversary Edition. This huge and quality total conversion has seen two Early Access releases this year, one back in January 16th and the other on August 2nd. Once available to site subscribers only, now we offer an updated version of the package to all CombatACE users as our Christmas gift, regardless of a subscription. There have been usual bug fixes and important improvements since the last release. Make sure to read the change log and all the details in the mod's download page once it's approved. You are not required to own a subscription, but keep in mind that the mod is distributed in a hefty, yet highly compressed 3GB installer which contains 15GB of contents. You will need a stable internet connection in order to download it. The mod cannot and will not be offered in a different form. A subscription grants you unlimited number of downloads for its duration and will support the site's hosting costs. The Operation Desert Storm: 30th Anniversary Edition modification does NOT comply with CombatACE's Freeware Licensing. Various contents of this modification are exclusive, as such you are NOT allowed to share, redistribute and/or make use of the mod and/or its contents for other purposes, without the consent of the mod's developers. Contents of the modification are the copyright of their respective authors. My personal thanks to the ODS 30AE Development Team, you guys keep inspiring me with your great works and continuous support! And special thanks to @Erik and to all admins and moderators of this great place that is CombatACE. Happy Holidays, pilots of the virtual skies!

. "A Story for the Season" 1916: Christmas Eve at the Front. The War has dragged itself along on its steely, mud-caked claws for over two years, and the end seems no closer now than when it all began. At an RFC aerodrome not ten miles from the first line trenches, a group of airmen sit through the morning’s briefing, and prepare themselves for the day’s work. They are nearly all young men, at least in years. But with war comes age beyond a calendar’s mark, and one would find that each man is far older than first appearance would tell if a moment were taken to look into his eyes. As the meeting breaks the jovial banter can be heard amongst the group: the good-natured ribbing and warnings, the verbal jousting, the camaraderie and the closeness that bonds souls together in such tenuous and temporary times. Across the mud at a German aerodrome, a similar scene is being played out. The Jagdstaffel pilots there are also preparing themselves for the task at hand. To look at them, you might imagine they were schoolmates of their British counterparts, rather than enemies soon to be locked in mortal combat. For they too laugh and joke, and share that same bond. And they too are of the "old young". The hour is at hand. On each side the signal is given and the small, fast scout planes skim along the cold, icy ground, and one by one lift into a winter sky as grey as the earth below. They form up, and after climbing to their prescribed altitudes, they head towards No Man’s Land and on to do their best; for King and Country; für Kaiser und Vaterland. They meet, and there is the initial gun pass as each sizes up the other. A few moments later and the aerial battle begins in earnest. To those in the fight it is a mind-numbing blur of action that runs in both accelerated and slow motion simultaneously. A split second given to pull the trigger as a plane zips across the sights: an eternity spent to try and twist out of the path of the bullets. An entire lifetime won or lost in less than an eye blink. To those on the ground it appears as a graceful ballet of the sky, the canvas-feathered birds turning and rolling and climbing and diving. But it is a dance to the death more often than not, and it will end when one or more has fallen. And one has fallen. The long, slow, spiraling pirouette as the finale comes to the dance. The others have now tired and as if by mutual agreement or unseen signal the partners separate and turn away. The audience below does not understand how it can be over so quickly. They cannot see the fatigue and exhaustion of those in the air; cannot see their battered ships, or their bruised and aching bodies; or their tired, aging eyes. No, they can see none of these things, any more than the men in the air can see the pain or the agony endured by those who must fight on the ground. Each sees the other from afar, as through a glass darkly. It is an irony of war that in each case, either in the Sky or on the Earth, a man better understands and is more akin to the enemy he fights in his realm than to his own countrymen above or below. Christmas Eve at the Front. Night has fallen and the pilots sit about the dinner table at their respective aerodromes, and talk of flying and fighting, and of family and friends. Wishes of the Season are shared, letters from home are read. Songs of hope are sung and toasts are made to fellow flyers, and to mothers and sweethearts. At one of the tables an empty chair stands in remembrance of the comrade lost that day, and to whom the final toast is made. He will be missed, and to a loved one back home he will forever be a young man with bright, happy eyes; forever a photograph, a memory of a life that could have been. It matters not which side he fought for. He was a man, a part of human kind, and with his passing we are all the lesser for it. . May you have safe and blessed holidays wherever you are, and may we each remember the true message of this season: Peace on earth, good will toward men.

Christmas isn't quite over yet, fellows! If you look very closely at the bottom of your chimney stocking, I think you will find one more treat: Optional Cloud Mod 4.0 is here! From the included read me file, here is a description of some of the major changes in OCM 4.0: Completely revised version, with significantly reduced cloud flashing, popping, and strobing. Perhaps the most significant improvement to the mod has been updates to many old cloud files, plus the addition of several new cloud files to the game. These changes are important, because cloud files are used to build the weather types that are displayed as clouds in the game. As a result, almost every cloud has improved appearance and performance. These improvements mean that I have been able to drop the “Light” version of the mod and to improve the fog and mist files so that most players will not need to delete these files in order to enjoy the mod. Finally, several new weather types have also been added to the mod, bringing the total number of "skies" in the game to more than 120! Following is a list of many of the new features: • New: Another almost completely revised version. Virtually every existing weather type in OCM 4.0 has been significantly revised and optimized in order to improve frame rates, improve overall appearance, and reduce the appearance of cloud "popping" and flashing in the game. Many existing cloud files have been revised, and thirty new cloud files have been created, with this aim in mind. While some amount of cloud popping is inevitable due to the CFS3 game engine, I believe that OCM version 4.0 reduces and even eliminates several forms of cloud popping that continued to exist in previous versions in both the original game and in the mod. • New: Revised fog and mist clouds. While pretty, fog and mist files in previous versions of the mod also were plagued by significant cloud flashing and flickering, particularly at low levels. With the addition of several new cloud files and a few other modifications, cloud flashing and flickering has been significantly reduced in OCM 4.0. Of course, due to variations in computer setups and equipment, some examples of cloud flashing will still occur for some users. Most instances of cloud flashing seem to occur between 1,500 and 2,500 feet, with some variation depending on ground elevation. Above those heights, cloud flashing should be much less noticeable. • New: Nine additional weather types. A full list of the additional clouds added in 4.0 can be found at the end of this document. • New: More realistic haze clouds. No more streaks of thin, hazy clouds. Users will encounter a much greater variety of haze in the game, with the addition of 15 new haze and fog cloud files! • New: Some of the very dark clouds that were introduced with the release of patch 1.17 have been lightened so they aren’t quite so dark. • Weather folders have again been tweaked in order to accommodate new cloud types and provide a better balance between good, light, and heavy weather conditions. The appearance of bright, white clouds in overcast and rainy weather conditions has also been reduced. Link to the mod here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/wah3zeetb4x56k0/WOFF UE PE OCM 4.0.zip?dl=0

View File [Fictional] Mikoyan-Gurevich Ye-2PFM "Faceplate-D" Mikoyan-Gurevich Ye-2PFM "Faceplate-D" for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2 Released 'as is', this is Mikoyan-Gurevich Ye-2PFM 'Faceplate' - featuring a 3D model by KnightWolf45 (the artist formerly known as Cocas). In the mid-1950's the MiG OKB was tasked in developing a new lightweight supersonic interceptor fighter for the Soviet Air Force and flight-tested two distinct designs in parallel - one with a thin, swept-wing and one with a tailed delta wing. The tailed delta would eventually win out to become the famous MiG-21 'Fishbed' but it's tantalising to consider 'what if' the swept-wing Ye-2A prototype had either won or was considered good enough to also be procured. Anyway, this is the swept-wing Ye-2 as it might have looked in service with the Soviet Air Force and I've also included Egyptian, Mongolian and Parani skins. Giving the aircraft a service designation is tricky as it was given a provisional designation of MiG-23 but, of course, this conflicts with the swing-wing 'Flogger' that came later. We can't use an even number like MiG-20 or MiG-22 so I've just called it the Ye-2PFM and you can change this to suit your own thoughts on this matter. INSTRUCTIONS 1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the Ye-2PFM folder into your Aircraft folder. 2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the Ye-2PFM folder into your Decals folder. 3. From the WEAPONS folder drag and drop the Faceplate-GP-9 folder into your Weapons folder. That's it! CREDITS As always, thanks to Third Wire for a great little game/sim. Huge thanks to KnightWolf45 for creating the Ye-2PFM 3D model a few years ago and to the CAF team for any inputs that followed. Special thanks also to Coupi for sending me his templates that I've used to create the skins. Thanks to Paladrian for the MiG-21 pit. And, finally, thanks to everyone in the wider Third Wire community. Regards Spinners Version 1 - Dec 24th, 2021 Submitter Spinners Submitted 12/24/2021 Category What If Hangar

Hello everyone, I took some time with these models, I commented that I could not solve a rare situation with the rockets for the F models, so I will launch it like this, with respect to the TA-152 I acquired a publication of Luftwaffe in focus 29, where This is the known operations diary of these machines and some topics with the tactical numbers when they operated on the jg 301, I remade all the skin to 4k and new historically correct license plates and new radiator petals. This is how some of the new skins look like
