Some try to fly NOE to get past the gatekeepers A CAP with Hawkeye support is deployed overland to track the bogeys Interception made, the J-10s climb to be escorted off the premises The Chinese try something new, and these birds are not detected.. The bogey's wingman makes his presence felt And the intruders are out to make more mischief with the CAP flight supposedly searching for them... Eventually a Mark One eyeball spots the bogey at 5 o'clock high Drop tanks and break...Now But the PLAAF jets have already disengaged, descended to low level and are rapidly egressing, still undetected by radar Looks like tensions in the South China Sea have ratcheted up a notch.     You're welcome. Since these monoplanes were produced an incredible amount in all sorts of variations, then for the current model makers any work will be in a certain sense an improvisation “based on” the Blériot XI. IMHO, the cockpit of the Swedish Thulin A (licence-built Blériot XI) is the most understandable in numerous photos. Maybe this site will add some details? http://www.oxygino.com/site/?p=5430#sthash.3061ry8Q.dpbs As you look at the cockpit you'll notice the control stick, called the cloche, that bell-shaped housing that's named after a lady's dress style of the period. The wheel on the top of the control stick really doesn't turn or anything. It's just something to hold on to. You can see the wires that are attached just to the sides of that bell housing and those go out to the control surfaces. They go to the elevators, to the wing warp on the wings, and then you can see the rudder bar—a wooden footrest almost—and that's what you would use to operate the rudder. Instrumentation was very, very limited. Usually it was just an oil pressure gauge and a tachometer, maybe a barometer, but for the most part it was just basic instrumentation. Blériots were used a great deal for the Great War in 1914-15. And navigation was coming into its own at that time, so they were learning about using maps and using a compass and things like that.

    i realized i have goofed with the ini file for the water injection on the B-52Gs for ODS. it was a last minute adjustment that i did not run by the test team in order to prevent conflict with other J57ExhaustEmmiters. FOR EVERYONE WHO HAS DOWNLOADED THE B-52G_89 FOR ODS PRIOR TO 16 JANUARY 2019: add this to your effects folder, it will correct the error and you will experience as close to a water injection takeoff as the game allows Effects.7z FOR EVERYONE WHO DOWNLOADS AFTER 16 JANUARY 2019: the file has been fixed, you will not need this. My apologies to everyone who downloaded previously and needs this fix

    realSKY Environment January 13th, 2019 (1st Release) by Menrva >For Strike Fighters 2 games This is my sky enhancement mod. It also combines the work of many other modders, in order to provide a realistic, better looking sky. Here below a quick summary of the changes: -Tweaked sky colours, something in between Cellinsky's widesky and the stock SF2 colours. -More realistic Night colours, sky and ambient are much darker. -More atmospheric, reddish transition from Twilight to Night. -New "dark blue" High Altitude colours (fly near space with a NF-104). -Moon produces a yellowish light instead of the default purple. -Sky is "wider" much like Cellinsky's widesky mod (background horizon clouds are bigger and more noticeable). -Added beautiful cloud graphics made by Cellinsky and ShrikeHawk, tweaked for each weather type. -Added a low number of stray clouds to Clear weather. -Added noticeable clouds to Overcast weather and Inclement weather, "fixing" a known SF2 "bug". -Combined various mods to produce a more interesting Rain Effect under Inclement weather. -Added Stary's lens flare effects from the SARCASM 2 mod, in place of Cellinsky's widesky effects. -Added Cloud Layer graphics by Stary, Fubar512 and Brain32. -Reworked secondary atmospheric effects, such as contrails and wingtip vortexes. In addition, the package includes alternative environment configuration files in the Alternative Weather folder; they enable different effects for the Inclement weather. You can choose between thunderstorm (default, adapt for most terrains), snowstorm (for cold, icy terrains) and sandstorm (for hot, desert terrains). For those who wish not to change the effect globally, I highly suggest to try the included terrain-specific environment example provided for stock SF2 terrains; the default global effect is thunderstorm, while terrains with their own environment file either use sandstorm or snowstorm as appropriate. Use this as a basis to customize other terrains. By setting the Effects to Unlimited, the game makes use of a DirectX 10 post processing effect; the stock game's post processing shader generates a pointless and horrible bloom effect which excessively blinds the player during twilight transitions. By default, realSKY includes a reworked post processing shader (TWPOSTPROCESS.FX) which provides more contrast, more vignetting, minor color correction and a daytime-only bloom effect, so it's miles better than what the stock game offers. Alternative post processing tweaks are included in the Alternative Shaders folder; choose the one you wish to try (check the included screenshots for fast comparisons) and overwrite the default one in your mod's Flight folder. If you don't care about the post processing effect, you may want to set the game's Effects to High in the Options menu. >Credits (in no particular order): -Cellinsky, for his fantastic widesky mod from which I borrowed some tweaks. -Stary, for his Thunderstorm and Heavy Snowfall weather mods, and his SARCASM 2 beta mod from which I borrowed some effects. -PanamaRed, for tweaks in regards to Clouds (especially the Broken weather ones). -Fubar512 and Brain32, for their Cloud Layer Top bitmaps, which I have smoothed for a better looking effect. -ShrikeHawk, for his CloudSkins mods, from which I took the spectacular cloud graphics. -BearGryllis, for his Thunderstorm Pack With Enhanced Lightnings 2.0b package. -Orsin, for his Improved Rain Effect and Heavy Rain 0.8 mods. -luk1978, for his interesting WeatherEffect package. -ArmedLightning, for his Special FX v2.2 mod for the GTR 2 game, from which I borrowed a lens flare effect. -baffmeister, for the idea of recreating sandstorm weather effects. -tiopilotos, for suggesting improvements on other subjects. -Eagle114th, for his Improved Wingtip Vortex mod which I have reworked. -JosefK, guuruu and Coupi, for their interest and support.     News, put together by Stormbirds IL-2’s Lead Producer, Jason Williams, revealed plenty of new information today in a post on the IL-2 forums with plenty of far reaching details on the release order of content coming to the IL-2 series including some surprise changes to the order of new materials. There has long been speculation on the order that content will release in for IL-2: Battle of Bodenplatte (not to mention Tank Crew and Flying Circus). In the post that went up a few hours ago, we’ve learned about each of the three titles and what content is releasing and when. Me262 coming sooner than expected Though long thought to be the last aircraft to be released, 1CGS has apparently made tremendous strides in getting the required flight model changes and jet engine modeling inserted into the engine – to that point that the Me262 will now release alongside the FW190D-9. That means that the FW190D-9, already well known to be coming next, will come with the Me262. That is incredible news and a change of plans from 1CGS on release order compared to what we previously knew. Here’s the new order: Me-262 and Fw-190 D-9 P-51D B-25 (AI) Tempest Mk.V P-38J Excitingly, the P-51D is next in the line-up but it does mean that we’ll be waiting for a while yet for another two highly anticipated types: the P-38J and the Tempest Mark V. Tanks will be coming in larger packs Eight more tanks are coming in 2019 for Tank Crew – Clash at Prohorovka. While the tanks themselves have been well known for over a year now, the actual release order has been only guessed at based on what we’ve seen from the work in progress images. The next release for Tank Crew will include: M4A2 PzKpfw IV Ausf.G T-34 model 1943 PzKpfw III Ausf.M Following that, a second release will include: SU-122 PzKpfw V Ausf.D SU-152 Sd. Kfz. 184 I would suggest to those unclear about this that it is very likely that there will be large gaps in between these releases as the models for these tanks are worked on. Two additional vehicles will be offered as Collector Vehicles (like Collector Planes) and they are: GAZ-MM + 72K Sd. Kfz. 10 + Flak38 These two mobile flak vehicles will provide a whole new aspect for the IL-2 series with a new mission – firing back at aircraft attacking ground targets and tanks. One thing is certain and that is Tank Crew will be growing immensely from its currently very early access state into a complete package over the coming months. Flying Circus aircraft still to come We already knew that the Fokker D.VII and D.VIIF were coming alongside the Sopwith Dolphin. From there we were only making educated guesses, however, according to Jason Williams, the order will go as follows: Fokker D.VII and D.VIIF and Sopwith Dolphin Albatros D.Va and S.E.5a Bristol F2B and Halberstadt CL.II and CL.IIau Flying Circus has four aircraft that have helped prove and cement the concept of bringing Rise of Flight’s aircraft to the next generation of the Digital Warfare engine – letting people experience VR WWI air combat and enjoying the benefits of years of development on the series’ engine. The rest of the aircraft line-up will help further sell the concept I think – and it leaves me hopeful for a future Vol 2 follow-up too. Map release order too We now have information on the release order for the new maps coming as well. Bodenplatte Map Arras Map Prokhorovka Map Last in the order is the recently revealed Prokhorovka map which is interesting because we’ve seen this map in development while the Arras map for Flying Circus has not yet been seen in work in progress screenshots. Many months ago we saw the first images of the Bodenplatte map followed up by images of new city layouts that would help the 1CGS team quickly populate the largest (and most densely packed) map in the series’ history. Of course, the Bodenplatte map isn’t just one theme as it comes with all four seasons – summer, autumn, winter, and even a spring thaw version of the map that is something we’ve not really seen before. And those other features Sometimes I think we get so caught up about seeing our favourite aircraft or tank added that we sometimes forget that the thing that helps propel all of this along are those “other features” that are so essential to making something like the IL-2: Great Battles Series compelling. 1CGS has no shortage of that planned. Bodenplatte Career Bodenplatte Scripted Campaign Another Payware Scripted Campaign or two from 3rd Parties Tank Crew Scripted Campaigns American and British Radio Calls Air/Field Marshal Feature Object Viewer New MP Lobby (Fingers crossed, this one won’t be easy) PWCG Online Co-Op Campaign (Go chew on Pat about this) and hopefully many other tweaks and fixes etc. as we go along. Things like a Career we’ve come to expect from the 1CGS team who delivered that feature in March of 2018 and which has, in my mind at least, transformed the single player experience. Other things like the Air Field Marshal and a new Multiplayer Lobby have the potential to be game changing for the multiplayer experience. We’ve got a lot to look forward to in the IL-2 series this year and I think we’re in for another transformative year for IL-2: Great Battles.     No, there is no water there. As a rule, air cooling motors were installed on this aircraft. What you have mistaken for a hot water tank is actually a gas tank.

    An old thread now but for anyone dropping by I just want to update my earlier lukewarm comments. Now that I have a system that can play BoB2 + BDG patch 2.13 acceptably at or near near max settings, and the patience to try the wargame side (if only so far as to generate dynamic missions I can choose to fly) I'm a true BoB2 believer, fickle or not. The scope of the air action dwarfs CloD and WoTR and is the only one I've seen that recreates this acceptably (not even modded EAW was close), the depth and accuracy with which history is recreated is unlikely ever to be equalled let alone exceeded (both as regards aircraft markings and ground object/terrain details); the amount of content (flyables and missions) is very high; and the air combat AI is superb. And with autogen trees enabled and other settings higher including terrain tile shimmer fixed, the landscapes look a lot better than in the screenies in my original post.

    Nicely done Spinners, I can still remember when the then in-development MRCA was initially to be called the Panther, before it was renamed Tornado. This must have been in the 1969-70 time frame. I recall preparing hand-drawn scale drawings of it while still at high school, with the optimistic intention of one day scratch-building a model (oh well) . In those days all the artists' impressions showed a much sleeker airframe - something more akin to the eventual Tornado F3 than the stubby GR1- with half-circle intakes plus half-cone centrebodies á la Mirage III. After I joined the RAF in 1972 I discovered what MRCA was believed to really stand for in the eyes of the Service at that time: "Must Refurbish Canberra Again". Only the really cynical said it stood for "Mother Riley's Cardboard Aeroplane".. Mike

    Excellent news Gterl! May I make a plea for the (admittedly ahistorical) inclusion of the fictional Linienschiffsleutnant Otto Ritter von Prohaska? Yes yes I know this would be equivalent to including Biggles in a Western Front campaign*, but by coincidence I'm currently re-reading "The Two-Headed Eagle" by John Biggins. This is a fictional account of the adventures and misadventures of said Otto Prohaska, an Austro-Czech naval officer attached to the KuK Fliegertruppe on the Isonzo Front in 1916. Clearly grounded upon solid research into the period, it gives a dramatized but authentic picture of the Hapsburg Empire in its waning days. It is very far from dry though, with moments of high farce and moments of deep tragedy, all narrated by the protagonist with a stong sense of irony. It is the third of four novels in the Prohaska series, all very highly recommended! Cheers Mike *and why not? Biggles was quite “real” to generations of British schoolboys, inspiring many** to careers in the RAF. **Including this one.

    Hi Pappy, you might want to check file E-2C_4 in the upload. I think it is saved reversed and is showing wrong on the aircraft. An edit in PS - > Edit -> Transform -> Flip Horizontal does the job. Thanks for the great Hi-Rez skins.
