I believe third party aircraft pool still beats any future TW releases. Honestly, we just need updated, bugfixed engine...community can handle models.

My understanding of the decal system is as follows: The texture file name is defined by Filenameformat. Depending on DecalLevel either the nation id (if DecalLevel=0) or squadron id (if DecalLevel=1) or serial number index (if DecalLevel=2) or kill number (if DecalLevel=3) is appended to the texture file name. The game (and the LODViewer) then tries to load this texture file. But the game has a fallback behavior, that the LODViewer has not (yet): if the game doesn't find the texture file with the numbers at the end, it then tries to load the texture file defined solely by Filenameformat (without the numbers at the end). Therefore I think the modded decals (DecalLevel=0) doesn't show in the LODViewer, because they doesn't end with the nation id number and the LODViewer misses the fallback behavior of the game, that would load the texture file without the numbers at the end. I will add the fallback behavior in the next update.

We're talking about Veltro's B-26 and B-25 right?? who do you thing did the (original) skins for the Mitchell??? and, I have a full set of home-growns for the B-26 as well and new data inis with fully corrected hit boxes for all versions (ETO, MTO, PTO) for both aircraft (I STILL am the main ww2 guy around here, even if i'm haven't done anything new in a while)

I agree, but not all aircraft are adapt for the SF2 Cold War environment. They even modelled modern aircraft (F-22s, Eurofighters, etc.) and we do not have the features to accurately reproduce their avionics. Also, they are using the Unity engine for the mobile games, which is not the TW engine. For a beginning, I'd rather see bugfixes for SF2, for issues that were never addressed with weapons and AI. Then, only then, new features.

I agree with Coupi.... once they're finished, one can only hope for SF2 DLCs for those birds. Would be an addition to the revenue stream, as I know MANY of us would jump at the chance to add them to the stock 3W Hanger. Mobile games, I just can't see they're value/use. (of course, I've never tried any of them ... so my opinion is not fully valid)

I would KILL to get a new Havoc/Boston in the hangar... the "other one" has a lot of flaws. Somewhere around here I have the early work up MAX files for A-20 that Cocas started ... but, well, you know the story... I just wish the B-26 didn't have the mesh & shadow issues it does. Speaking of the Marauder, don't forget the RAF anti-shipping units in the Eastern Med (THEY have the 2-tone desert camo in their North Africa mod. It would be easy to copy it on the new template, but I don't like being accused of plagerism (sp?) ) I like the B-25 more the B-26, probably because my father saw lots of them in 44/45 when he was in the Phillipines (US Army). AND 50% of them were built just south of me near it is now LAX. Well, here they are ... all layers are intact with those from my skins, so enjoy! B-25 - veltro2k.7z b-26 marauder -v2k.7z

And B-26 is Spitfire of medium bombers. Just looks like movie star ;-) B-25 is also beauty, but hasn't this agression ;-)

Yes A lot of them handle like heavy fighters, and they just look so neat and tidy.

Yes I know Kev, it was a subtle hint for you to pipe up lol. I have most of the available Marauders off of here, and I'm trying to do some new skins and markings , I know there are only 3 main colour schemes for the Aircraft , however I want to fiddle around with them a bit, add weathering, and correct a few of the panel lines etc. here is my initial go, but I want to improve on this if at all possible

test on terrains with lot of SAM sites. check file _TARGETS.ini in terrain folder. As I said before. Ground radars - no animation needed. All is set in a data ini file. A quick look in data files will make clear all.

Dont forget RadarFamilyName. This thing is used by plane RWR. In flight folder you can find files like RWR_MIG-25.tga it's symbol, that will be displayed on RWR. [DetectSystem] TargetType=AIR RadarFamilyName=2S6 RadarSearchTime=2.0 In plane folder /cockpit/rwr is list file [something].LST. It is translating RadarFamilyName for correct symbol : 222=RWR_222.tga 2S6=RWR_2S6.tga A-4=RWR_A-4.tga A-6=RWR_A-6.tga A-7=RWR_A-7.tga A50=RWR_Mirage2kd.tga A-130=RWR_A-130.tga

Not sure about ground radar...my sukhoi awacs dish rotates as an engine, with rotation axis normally Y axis...in max rotate y axis so its angle you wnt the dish to rotate...heres my dish data. trotski00, I don't have access to any original B-25 or B-26 templates. But if you are looking for a template for the old SF1 B-26 Marauder, I've attached one I did sometime back. If it's not what you're looking for, ignore this. It's got a few wiggles in the lines when placed on the lod, and needs more work... so, pretty much as is. Please feel free to improve it. If you have a good all silver skin it's quite a snap to make a template ...

Click on the mesh at the position you want, then use CTRL-C to copy the coordinates and paste them into the data (needs some additional final editing) SAM systems with a separate radar and launcher (like SA-2, HAWK) do not work with them placed as objects in single missions. Only if they are placed by the game engine on targets ini defined SAM_Radar / SAM_Launcher positions. To force a specific system .. my way (if testing things) is to give them the VERY_COMMON availability, disable stock systems, move out other systems from the GroundObjects folder ... set Air Defense to High in the options menu Choose a terrain with many SAM sites and select single mission SEAD ..

    1. the best to understand data ini is to take a look at existing data ini file. 2. rotation of radars in ground object is not animation. All is set in data ini file. 3. not fully understand - just position it with x, y, z coordinates and atachment angles. example will be also found in existing data.ini file of launcher... like this : [Turret] ModelNodeName=Turret MaxExtentPosition= 2.39, 4.20, 1.72 MinExtentPosition=-2.39,-4.70, 0.00 HasArmor=FALSE SystemName[001]=Missile01 SystemName[002]=Missile02 SystemName[003]=Missile03 SystemName[004]=Missile04 [Missile01] SystemType=MISSILE MissileID=1 WeaponTypeName=SA-3_5W27D WeaponPosition=-2.66,4.35,1.8 ShowMissile=TRUE IndependentPitchMovement=FALSE etc... 4. you need sam radar and sam launcher in ground objects and weapon for launcher in weapons folder.

Sometimes I have CTD sometimes not...few days ago I flew Blinder with Kh-22; ordered wingman to attack a target from some ridiculous distance... and no CTD even mission complete...nothing unusual. When I flew a similar mission next .. the same procedure ..and then CTD.

Cockpits are a nice start... but the mobile games are still along way from the original SFP1, much less SF2. Fortunately for me, I can mostly get what I wanted out of SF2 from DCS World. But you still can't beat SF2 for the plane set. SF2 also remains the best sim for Korea, Vietnam, and Arab-Israeli Wars. It has all the right terrains with all the right ground objects and all the right aircraft. I tried all of the mobile games and have the PC version, but I never play them.

The U-2 Dragon Lady may have gotten her start in the Cold War, but she's still a valuable aircraft to have in the USAF as she still has some advantages over modern day surveillance methods. In today's video, interested ones, will get a brief history of the Dragon Lady.
