Looking around we found that Deniss Oliveira has been overlooked in his work on the various Mirage's. To amend this oversight, a long overdue elevation to Modder Status has been performed. As many of you know, this involves many arcane rituals, invoking Dark Powers ( and beer) and the sacrifice of Buffalo Wings and so forth. Please extend your congratulations to our newest Modder!!! Welcome brother ... to the Dark Side .... muuuahahahahahahaha

Third Wire MiG-23 fighters made flyable & updated for SF2 MiG-23M, MiG-23M (85), MiG-23MF, MiG-23ML, MiG-23MLA, MiG-23MLD, MiG-23MLD (Soviet-Afgan War), MiG-23MLDe, MiG-23P, MiG-23P (82), MiG-23MS This is a follow on from my "Third Wire MiG-23MLD updated & flyable for SF2" mod and completely supersedes it. - All are flyable with a modified version of Stary's MLD cockpit/ avionics with corrections by Crusader and myself. There are slightly different cockpits/ gunsights depending on the model of aircraft. - Wing spoilers are now working as they were always there just not activated. Thanks again Crusader! - Opening Canopy. - KM-1 Ejection seats added. Grey on most but black for Mig-23MLDe, MiG-23P and MiG-23P (82). - Loadouts enhanced and corrected. Some Afghanistan specific ones added. Use of Kh-25M air-to-surface missile and datalink pod added. - Missile positions corrected, especially for the AA-8. - Single missile rail for the fuselage AA-8. - Improved/ corrected FM. - Improved engine sound and afterburner effect. - All Mig-23 have an ACM/ boresight radar mode but it is set straight ahead along the gunsight and does not move/ scan. The MLD and P (82) have an ACM/ boresight mode that scans vertically like the F-16 or F-15 etc. - MLD, MLDe and P (82) have KDS-23 countermeasure dispenser installed in the centreline drop tank pylon. This is a 12 shot chaff/ flare countermeasure dispenser that could be used once the drop tank had been jettisoned. - MLD Leading edge flaps automatically deploy during maneuvering as they did on the MLD with the type 3 wing. - MLD Primary and secondary roles expanded to reflect the evolution of the MLD into a more multi role fighter platform. - Removed ECM jammer from MLD. - Radar data and performance is corrected from the S-23MLA radar to the S-23MLA-II radar for the MLD. - Most if not all the exported and Warsaw pack ML aircraft were actually MLA models, this is an error in most publications, model kits and flight sims alike and has only been corrected in recent publications. The ML was operated by the Soviet airforce and by the time the export models were being built the production line had switched to the MLA. This is now corrected in the game. All skins updated with cockpit textures and various other minor details. - Grey undersides on Soviet Camouflage skins changed from grey to blue/ grey. Additional dark green added in to the Soviet camouflage of later model MiG-23s. Lots of other texture corrections done. - Skins added for Iraqi, Syria (Late), Polish camouflage, Egypt, North Korea, Libya, Soviet desert (in Afghanistan) and Soviet Afghanistan veterans. - Corrections to decal size and/ or positions on various skins. - Additional MiG-23MLDe variant created. This is the Syrian and Libian specific export model of the MLD which did not have the IFF or aerodynamic enhancements (vortex generators) of the Soviet MLD and had a slightly downgraded radar. Syrian made countermeasure dispensers installed on either side of the tail fin. - Additional MiG-23P (82) variant created. This is the Soviet P model that was upgraded to the same standard as the MLD but without the aerodynamic enhancements. - Additional MiG-23M (85) variant created. This is a few squadrons of the Soviet M model that had its IFF upgraded some time between 1978 and the early 90's (Same nose IFF antenna as the MLD and P (82). - Additional MiG-23MLD (Soviet-Afgan War) variant created. This is the Soviet MLD but reflects the specific loadouts, modifications, countermeasures and markings of the MLD models that served in the Soviet Afgan war. - Updated weapons from the RSSW 099 mod. To Install: 1, Delete ALL previous TW MiG-23 mods. 2, Unpack and drop the 2 parts of this download into your main mods folder. 3, You MUST override when prompted. Credits: - ThirdWire. - Crusader. - Stary. - Snailman. - Eburger68. - Paladrian. - Svetlin - Cocas CombatAce fair agreement applies. Enjoy, Dan (dtmdragon).

There is a problem with the AI and missiles. 1) The AI can't use Laser weapons (well, that's not entirely true, under specific conditions your wingmen might use them, but not always, and no other AI plane, it's better to avoid them for AI use). 2) The AI uses the RocketAttackAI statements of their DATA.ini to attack, which means that while it is suited for rockets, it usually fails for modern, long range missiles. 3) Modifying the RocketAttackAI statement means you will tailor it for a certain range-class of missiles but means the AI won't correctly handle rockets and classes of missiles requiring another attack profile. You could tailor planes to have a better attack profile for Mavericks, but then the planes won't be able to have an efficient dumb rocket attack, or missiles with a different profile requirement. The parameters in the plane's DATA.INI are (values are there as an example for dumb rockets, not missiles) : [RocketAttackAI] RollInRange=8000.0 RollInAlt=1400.0 PullOutRange=900.0 PullOutAlt=200.0 ReleaseRange=2000.0 SecondPassRange=4500.0 SecondPassAlt=750.0 ReleaseCount=16 ReleaseInterval=0.08 AimPitchOffset=0.6 Everything is in meters, except ReleaseCount (in number of weapons fired), ReleaseInterval (in seconds) and Aim PitchOffset (in degrees). RollInRange and RollInAlt are the distance to target and altitude the AI tries to reach before starting its attack pattern. PullOutRange and PullOutAlt are the distance to target and altitude from which the AI will break out of its attack pattern. ReleaseRange is the distance to target at which the AI will try to fire its rocket/missiles. SecondPassRange and SecondPassAlt are the parameters for an eventual second (or subsequent passes), useful if you want to have a first pass at long range but don't want to wait for the AI to go all the way back to do another pass if the missile can be launched at closed range. ReleaseCount is the number of missiles launched per attack run, ReleaseInterval is the interval between each release. AimPitchOffset is for dumb rockets, and the number of degrees above or below the target the AI should fire (to attack for gravity and the pitch angle of rocket attachments), it's mostly useless for guided missiles. In the example above that means the AI will try to be 8km away from its target, at an altitude of 1400m, then will dive toward it, aiming 0.6° above and firing 16 rockets, 1 every 0.08 seconds when it is 2km away from the target. I can't remember if the PullOut values are the limits after which the plane disengage or a target to reach after firing. Once disengaged from it's first pass, if the AI still can fire the same ordnance it will try to get 4.5km away from the target, at an altitude of 750m and repeat the process. What happens in your case is probably that the plane tries to use the default, suited for dumb rockets, attack profile, meaning by the time it tries to fire the Maverick, it's already closer than the MiniLaunchRange for the missile, hence the passes without firing. The slamming into the ground might be solved by changing the PullOut parameters. The failure to call Rifle though is a bug that probably can't be solved that way and is probably tied to the number of sound voices playable simultaneously and their priority.

McDonnell Douglas F-4F 'Marineflieger' for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2 This is a simple mod of the stock F-4F to create a minimum change maritime strike version of the F-4F in service with the Marineflieger of the West German Bundesmarine in the 1973-1989 timeline. Perhaps with Starfighters falling out of the sky the West German Government enlarged the F-4F purchase and gave the Marineflieger initial deliveries. INSTRUCTIONS 1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the F-4FM folder into your Aircraft folder. 2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the F-4FM folder into your Decals folder. That's it! For best results, you will need to have the Kormoran air-to-surface missile by ravenclaw_007 in your install. CREDITS As always, thanks to Third Wire for a great little game/sim. Thanks to sundowner for the superb F-4E templates. And, finally, thanks to everyone in the wider Third Wire community. Regards Spinners Version 1 - 24/04/2020

The C-5 Galaxy Show of hands; whose seen this massive aircraft up close and personal? I remember being at an airshow and they let you get your picture taken in the cockpit of this massive thing. The fact that it can even fly is impressive to me. She may not be sleek and fast like a fighter jet but this aircraft and other cargo planes certainly help keep things on move. The C-5 Galaxy's is tasked with Strategic Airlift meaning that it's supposed to take needed items from anywhere in the world into a theater or operations ... in other words its job is to bring supplies and equipment to the war zone. The amount of effort that went into producing this gigantic aircraft was equally impressive and employed a lot of companies all over the united states. Some of the companies were even small companies that were able to contribute to the project. Tools, maintenance, and other support equipment had to be custom made as well by various sub contractors. It was a large scale operation that unfortunately came with some massive drama ... straight up scandalous drama that we'll briefly talk about in this Quick Aircraft Facts presentation. While we strive to do a good job compressing information about an aircraft's history into 3 minutes or less. There are times I'd like to dive more into an aircraft's history; however, there are some documentries out there I think some of you may enjoy if you have the time. I'd like to point you to a Vintage C-5 Documentary released by the USAF. (In case the link doesn't take you to the right time you might want to skip ahead by a minute or so.) Oh heads up, a new QAF will be released on Tuesdays. Thank you so much or your support, patience, and time.

That seems to be exactly what the mod team for OP Darius has done. I shoulda RTFM'd. There's 'AI' variants that are all EOGB of what would otherwise be LGB.
  25. 1 point
OK, I've had this idea for a while.... But how do AI handle optically guided weapons? Maybe if LGBs became optically guided for AI they'd actually come off the AI rails. I've seen this very same problem - send a F-15 with precision bombs directly over a target and it won't drop.

Only TK really knows what the AI is doing with them Cant really see any thing different with AI jets compared to the player. Their hit rate with early missiles is miserable as well!

Great-looking work, I'm looking forward to it, thanks Gepard. One small historical note, relating to the River Thames, since this is a WW2 terrain - HMS Belfast was only moored in the Thames, opposite the Tower of London, in 1971. She was not there during WW2.

I think that you should also increase the fuze distances in order to simulate the hit but not kill situation. Almost 100% of stock missiles kill an aircraft when impact.

BAC Lightning F.Mk.54 - Marinefliegergeschwader 1, 1970 The first rumours of an alleged bribery scandal surrounding the purchase of the Lockheed F-104G Starfighter by the West German Government coincided with the ferociously high attrition rate of the Starfighter in Luftwaffe and Marineflieger service. With the end of Lightning production on the near horizon BAC submitted a brochure to the Bonn Government and Marineflieger Officials for a proposed multi-role Lightning based on the F.53 and this proposal was accepted leading to a modest production order for 60 Lightning F.54's which entered service in late 1968 with MFG1 and MFG2 before being retired in 1987.
