  1. It doesn't bring out the worst in people, it's just a place where people show their true nature. That is what humanity is, and it's why I think it's worthless. When people talk about "the value of a human life" all I can think is if I paid a penny for a human I'd want some hefty change.

That's why I'm in favor of forced global sterilization.

  2. Well, sure, if you want to be a dick about it you can say it's not an aviation movie. That doesn't mean that's even close to accurate.

That doesn't change the fact that it's a film about pilots, in which they spend half the time flying planes, doing air combat.

You can say it's a bad aviation movie because you don't like the acting, the writing, the directing, the plot, whatever. To say it's not one is like the girl saying she's still a virgin because it was just that one time and she got drunk so it doesn't count.

  3. I think TK might be getting the impression some are expecting DCS: F-14 or LOMAC 3 or something. He's rightfully going to try and temper those expectations. However, I do think he's going to have added more major stuff to this release than any single release since (discounting FE) WOV when he added carrier ops. I'm sure it will still feel like SF2, but perhaps after all this time it will be more like SF2.5.

If you remember the Unreal 2 and 2.5 engines, there wasn't a huge difference in the games made on them, it was subtle under-the-hood stuff that allowed better visuals to a small extent. I think that's what TK is doing here, something that on the surface will appear no different from any previous SF2x release, but as we use it and dig around we'll see lots of changes that may or may not affect the mods.

  4. That's what's coming, a new game with a new (at least one) plane and a new terrain.

The upcoming expansion will offer a new plane (Mirage F1) and maybe some other things.

The DLC offers stuff that in the past would've been throwaways in a full game or expansion and likely half-ignored. Who'd notice a 9-equipped A-4 in a Mirage F1 addon for instance?

There's no doubt it's not the system we learned simming on. I loved the Falcon 3 model. For full game price you got a full plane with a theater. For an addon price you got a new theater and a variation of the plane you had. Buy them all, merge them all, fly every plane in every theater. That's what TK did until recently when it became apparent he wasn't going to make enough the "standard" way.

Remember, folks, TK isn't EA or Activision. He's not rolling in it. Besides, the games run fine without these anyway. You don't NEED them (although you could argue the campaign customizer and mission editor really help out).

  5. For me, the pinnacle of MP FPS games was MOHAA and RTCW and BF42. No "perks" no "unlocks" no crap. Everyone has access to the same stuff from minute 1 and all you get from playing longer is more hours played. I'm sick of games that reward the compulsive "no other game but this for several hours a day!" players and penalize those who buy a game a month or two after release and then play an hour or two a week.

Frankly, I'd love new versions of those games, identical except for better graphics, to play MP. Oh, and they have to be solidly locked down so no one can hack them, too. The cheating is why I quit all those games, but it took months and sometimes a year or more back then for it to become a problem.

  6. He came in REAL hot with too much descent fpm and the exhausts were full aft. Normally they slow way down and angle those things like 45 degrees down for a short landing.

I don't know what the failure was because the gear and flaps were down as normal, so I wouldn't guess it was hydraulic failure. Perhaps some engine-related problem where the throttle was stuck?

  7. Welcome! Hope you're not too sane, you might have problems understanding us. Mind if we call you Bruce? Might be some confusion if we don't.

    G'day, Bruce!
