  1. The combination of smoke and dust causes truly disgusting formations inside PCs. Years ago I worked for PC shops and regularly had people bring in their machines just loaded up with this muck. There were also some that had living inhabitants, from spiders all the way up to mice!

Anyway, the PC needs more regular cleaning the dirtier the environment it exists in, and as far as what your lungs look like... I wouldn't want MINE to look like that.

  2. I wonder if anyone ever did one of those "lifetime cost" estimates for the F-16 that seems all the rage now? All they want to talk about for the F-35 is how much will have been spent by the day we retire the last one...assuming that happens when they say it will.

The F-22 was like the B-2 where they had a set number to build and then they shut down the line, no hope of buying more even though it would've been cost-effective. But no, we have to redirect the funding to the F-35, because that's important.

    *money goes to F-35*

Oh no! Look how much money the F-35 is taking!! Blah blah blah.

  3. I don't understand CoD at all. Each successive release I find less and less interesting, and the MP holds no allure for me whatsoever. I played COD4 once, took me 4 MASSIVE hours to finish it, and that's all I did with it. I suppose some day I might go back and play it again for another 4 WHOPPING hours. I won't be buying any more of the CODs.

  4. What's the point of wonderful eye candy if the thing works like crap? The reason old games keep getting played despite graphics that are poor by current standards is because they're enjoyable. Then modders come along and devote time and effort to making better pictures because that's something that doesn't require coding.

After all, 3rd party modders have made planes and weapons and ships and improvements to TK's stock terrains for years, all looking far better than TK could manage on his limited budget and schedule. But all those mods required the code base to be there to support them. That's what developers should concentrate on. I mean, look at Minecraft! Worst graphics EVER, since before Quake anyway, and it's a big hit because you can do stuff with it.

No one argues Call of Duty's latest doesn't look great, but the gameplay hasn't changed. If anything, it's more simplistic to play than CoD1 was all those years ago. Probably why people STILL play CoD1.

  5. Do someone know when Strike Fighters 2 North Atlantic will be available?

To answer accurately: It will be available when it's released.

If you want a date, frankly I don't think even TK knows. He probably does know what's left to be done/fixed, and perhaps knows roughly how many weeks of work that is, but I'm sure things happen to delay that all the time. Hence it's mid February and it's not out despite his comment about how "he'd tried" to get it out by Xmas. It must have been relatively close back then, so it's obviously closer now!

  6. Arma 2 came with stock tractors.

Anyway, combined ops with the DLC is a great package. In fact, a patch was released earlier this year IIRC to 1.60 and the game runs better than ever. I understand there's yet another one coming soon. Arma 3 will have lots of new features and as you say will likely need several patches to make it "right", but I'm not concerned because over the last 10 years BIS has done a great job. The only problem was when they stopped the OFP patches for a long time when their CM deal broke down. That was long before Arma though.

  7. As mine is several hundred miles away in Atlanta for the week, I had little choice. We went out to dinner last weekend, and on her birthday (which is just a week before Valentine's Day), and at least we have a 3 day weekend coming up for Mattress Day.
