SF2V / WOV Air & Ground Expansion Packs
Dave replied to eburger68's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
Hey Eric, I would go through all your campaign data.ini's and in each aircraft unit needs to have STARTNUMBER=0 in them. The reason for this is to prevent planes showing up without tail numbers. A prime example is the F-111A's. After I added that to Airunit062 right under the MaxAircraft line, then tail numbers start to show up in the campaigns. Its a pain in the ass but worth the immersion factor. -

Those are great. I get tired of seeing the same old skins in the sim for Migs and SU's. These will be on my download for sure. -

I will defend eraser on this though. Its is a noble cause to help others though and more people should be like that. Just remember you can't help all of them. Help the ones close to you and it is just as good as everyone someone you don't know. I do not buy into that at all either. You are 100% right JM. Worry about yourself and not how high you can get on the social ladder. As far as social standing goes, I am not competing with anyone about anything. I don't have the time or the inclination. I am also not that self centered where I worry if I have a higher status than my neighbor. I don't care. I got my toys, I paid for them and they make me happy. I do not care if someone's got better toys. I just don't. I want to make sure my kids are taken care of, my wife is taken care of, BBQ during the summer, tip a few back and enjoy what I have and not what others have. I guess in all my ramblings I am trying to say I am going to take care of mine and not worry about everyone else, on what they do, what they have, etc. Unless it directly affects my family, then I carry on. Please do not misinterpret this as being selfish though, I do community work and I give where I can. In fact I have a couple favorite charities, one of then is Habit for Humanity and the others is Meals on Wheels. Been a part of those programs helping out for the better part of 10 years now. Great programs and if you can give your time to one of them, go for it. It's great. I like that picture UP, give me liberty or give me death.

I have to agree with Unknown Pilot. Bottom line some people have to win and some have to lose. Its life. Its not meant to be fair. But anymore today people do not want their feelings hurt so "everything" has to be equal or some poor sap with frail sensibilites will cry foul. Example of when the gay marriage in California for shot down. The people spoke and yet the pro gay marriage crowd tried to get that vote thrown out. IIRC the people said no, period, its over, you lost they won. Help thy fellow man as much as you can. I do, but I have family and they come first. Which believe it or not some has said that is even selfish. My wife and I are both military, we have 4 kids, our lives are busy. I do not always have time to ponder the plight of those less fortunate than me. Its not that I don't care but I have my life with my family. I give when I can but once again its the winners and losers to keep from using watered down words. It sucks, but there is nothing we can do but press on with our own lives and help those we can if we are able. One thing I did learn from my father was you do not have to step on anyone to get to the top.

RF-4C 10th TRW Tail Numbers
Dave posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
What resource were we using to find the tail numbers of a particular unit? I used to have it bookmarked, now I can't find it. Anyone remember? -

Final verdict on the November09 Patch for SF2E?
Dave replied to Helmut_AUT's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Its not that fact that patch is causing problems. Its old stuff that needs to be updated to use the features of the new patch. So in the end, its up to the user if they want to update that stuff. For me I only use DX10 and shaders in WOI as I do not add very many mods to it. I keep that install pure. But like my other installs, I force the DX9 and shaders off and use the HDR mod and if you look at my screenshots, they are still nice and I do not have to fix anything. Here is a screen shot that is using the DX10 stuff http://forum.combata...post__p__369789 http://forum.combatace.com/topic/33627-screenshot-thread/page__view__findpost__p__372196 http://forum.combatace.com/topic/33627-screenshot-thread/page__view__findpost__p__373138 http://forum.combatace.com/topic/33627-screenshot-thread/page__view__findpost__p__374391 -

I tried to find what you are seeing Spiff in every format imagineable format. DX9, DX10, shaders on and off etc etc and I couldn't recreate that. Everyones mileage may vary on this. If any hasnt noticed the models are getting better so weaker machines are going to struggle. I am not sure if that is the case Spiff but I would ventures its a good guess. -

There are plenty around in the screenshot thread. I am more worried about game play than graphics. The eye candy is nice but I like to bomb s**t and not use the sim for a media outlet. -
ALS is Airman Leadership School. Its a USAF Professional Military Education Course needed to become a NCO in the USAF/USAFR and the ANG. Right now I am doing my NCO Academy (NCOA) Course 9 because I will be getting MSgt this year. (Finally) It is bascially the same thing he went through but shows you more supervisory responsibilites.

New F15 Cockpit Problem
Dave replied to galoub's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Just a little background, I was testing this with the SF2 Dec patch with DX10, shaders on etc, so the triangles never showed up. Part of using the Dec patch was older files had to be updated to make use of the shaders etc etc etc. Well I didn't feel like doing that so I forced the sim to run DX9 and turned the shaders off. Reinstalled the HDR bloom mod and everything worked. I was testing the F-15R (I think) it was when I noticed the triangles. I sent FC a screen shot and he tested his F-15's and didnt find it. So we chalked it up to some glitch on my computer. Little did we know it was the whole DX10 thing causing it. So please I hope no one thinks we decided to release this in haste. Frankly I am disappointed because I have been wanting a pit for the Mudhen for a long time and those triangles just irrtate the piss out of me. So I hope FC find a cure for it. He is really doing his best in a task that is likened to trying to tape a paper you just shredded back together. -

FastCargo is going through the pits .LOD file with a hexeditor line by line. There are hundreds of entries in there and its going to take him days if not weeks to figure out each one to get the right file to correct.
