Bugger! Local Veteran's Day in Breda really blows! I left early, deciding not to go there ever! Pity that the Dutch city with the Royal Military Academy sucks at organising a proper tribute for their veterans! Shame!

i did not know you guys celebrated it in june. do you guys call it veterans day or rememberance day like most of the rest of europe?

Veteran's Day, we have a separate Remembrance Day to commemmorate the dead om May 4, as well as a Day of Freedom on May 5.

Of course I meant Call of Duty, not Cliffs of Depression! ;)

I envy you, 25 years ago there were a couple of Mustangs and a Sea Fury that flew in and out of KBFL quite a bit, my house at the time was just off to the side of the approach so I got a good view when they were coming in for a landing, to hear a Merlin purring got me exited to say the least and my girlfriend soon loved to hear a Mustang in the pattern.

The sound is awesome! I am lucky to live near Gilze-Rijen military airfield, where some oldies are housed.

Nothing sounds like a bunch of Merlins or just one in the morning... Spent sometime at Scampton many years ago and got to hear them testing a Merlin every morning for a week as they where preparing it for installation into something wonderful...

and a VERY good thing that the Polish Parachute Brigade got a MWO for their role in Market garden and Gen. Sosabowski got a Bronze Lion medal. Grandfather of my secretary was one of the Poles that liberated Breda.....

The Poles are really underrated for what they did in WW2... nice to see them represented...

Neh, previous owner fixed the body and chassis of the LW, then sold it because of his age and health. My LW also has a NOS (new old stock) 2.25 diesel engine and a completely overhauled gearbox and transmission.
