  1. Well when it comes to movies I'm the type that likes to wait for two days for his eyesight to return to normal upon leaving the theater so I will definitely go watch this one

  2. This is bad on several levels. The Russians are not bombing IS, they're just bombing anyone who is against Bashar al-Assad.

That is ISIS, unless you believe the "moderate opposition" fairy tales.

As for the Tomcats and Tupolev I have to say it must be an amazing scene, seriously let's talk like aviation enthusiasts here, we are talking about Tu-MF'in-95 being escorted by Tomcats!!!

I would expect such a scene only in alien attack movies lol

  3. I have always loved anything that NASA does and I love the space program. I have been on this for the past few hours. I would love to download the entire collection and even print some out. I think I am going to watch Apollo 13.

Me too, just last weekend I had a marathon. First I watched "The Right Stuff", then "Apollo 13" and then the entire "From Earth to the Moon"...

  4. My country, my Britain, my homeland is now a fractured, broken, a financially bankrupt state giving millions to foreign migrants. My wages have fallen because I have moved to a new job within the same company and the company is looking to make more cut-backs yet employ more foreign labour. It is almost criminal, the company which I have worked for for 20 years is now turning against the long-term employees who have good work conditions and contracts in favour of Polish and Ukranian employees.

Frankly, I think we are all headed for the scrapyard.

Since we are already in this let me expand on this.

This is bad, horribly bad and EU should had not been about free employment, relaxed trade yes but workforce circulation no. Why?

Because not only does it harm the population/workforce of well developed countries it also further bogs down the underdeveloped ones. Why?

Because people are like water, they will mostly pick the action that makes them overcome as little resistance as possible so instead of fixing things in their own country they run away where things are already fixed.

It's a horrible mentality if you ask me but people are like that. Many of my fellow Croats fled to the western countries, mostly highly educated workforce(university degree, phd) but also some "common workers" most of those people when asked said they were apolitical, not interested in politics, elections, voting.

This is sad but this is something highly promoted by politicians who set the system in the way the richest and most powerful want it to be, and they would much rather have a Croatian engineer working like crazy for half of your salary which is still 4-5 times more than he could earn in Croatia than paying you your salary, production is the same, cost is greatly reduced. This is bad for all of us, good for them.

I'll just give you one horrible but completely true example my cousin is a construction worker in Germany, he is working on electric, pluming, heating etc. installations on newly built buildings in a town near Munchen, he has no formal education higher than elementary school, he makes more a month than a judge in Croatia so go figure...

  5. If and when there are enough of these T-50s out there to actually threaten an F-35, we'll see.

Yeah if and when F-35 finally leaves testing and development phase and actually starts showing up in meaningful numbers and operational capability....because right now a fair comparison for such statements would be F-22. Most certainly not F-35

  6. Looks like a classic case of the plane's software not being finished. He couldn't make full use of the aircraft in a combat situation because half the time he was fighting the plane. You can't reliably come up with tactics if you're not sure what the plane is going to do because the software isn't finished.

Well if you ask me I think the by far the biggest issue of the F-35 is exactly that it is not yet finished, it's taking too long complications still arise budget went through the roof...this alone creates most of the F-35 controversy...

  7. First of all please bare with me a bit and just consider this.

However the source trying to compare the heavy F-15E is laughable.

Physics does not have a sense of humor F-15E is heavier but it has a larger wing area nearly 10m2 comparing to F-35A now while finding correct data is very hard mind you, empty weights of both planes are not actually that far away, wikipedia cites 13,199 kg for F-35A and not too colossal 14,300 kg for the F-15E now if we calculate it by dividing weight with wing area we get 14300kg/56,5m2=253,1kg/m2 wing loading for the F-15E and 13199kg/42,7m2=309,11kg/m2

So basically not taking the lifting bodies into this VERY SIMPLE calculation F-15E actually has lower wing loading than F-35A.

Now let's talk power loading, I will again compare empty weights because fuel and loadouts will always vary, so F-35A again 13199kg and 19504kg of trust so empty T/W would be 1,478 for F-15E we have 14300kg and 26308kg thrust so it's 1,839 T/W - that's also higher power loading!

Mind you this is as you see VERY simplified, there's also some drag involved but considering the max speeds of both planes I don't see why would F-15E have a bigger drag.

So we determined that depending on the fuel amount and loadout configuration it can VERY WELL happen that you find yourself in a F-15E that has better wingloading, better powerloading and let's make a WAG and say at a similar drag.

Now ok the data is from Wikipedia, there may be better for the F-35A, if you have it show it(actually don't, I tend to forget it's not a toy), but I wouldn't say dogfighting comparison of the two is really - laughable.

  8. It's a great site with lot's of info but comparisons are often...well...they can be misguiding.

They either compare older German plane types with newer Allied or use testing of crash landed German planes and then compare them with pristine condition sealed and polished allied planes at experimental engine boosts etc.

This comparison on the second link is exactly one such example.

It shows in speed graphs only E-1 and 1938 E test, while dominant variants in BoB were E-3 and E-4

Here is an example for a test of the BF-109E3: http://kurfurst.org/Performance_tests/109E_Baubeschreibung/109E3_Baubeschreibung.html

As you will be able to see in this test the E-3 hits 565kmh at altitude, that's 352MPH not 342MPH. Also engine limitations in the link are false which is nothing new as previously that site even had comparisons of german planes at combat power vs. allied on emergency power which ofcourse is not the same, as for this example max engine speeds for DB601A and DB601N were 2600RPM and 2800RPM respectively not 2400RPM as on the site which cites prewar BF-109E data and then compares them with wartime Spits...WTF?

All in all, a very cool and detailed library but comparisons suck and tests of allied planes are mint condition that was never or rarely met on the battlefield...(like I said, polished, lightened, fully sealed(guns too!) etc)...

  9. Well to tell you the truth I'm not even all that impressed with the DCS the game engine is upgraded version of initial Lomac heck it still runs DX9c correct me if I'm wrong. It's also completely beyond my understanding on how did they manage NOT to make atleast one other terrain. The only thing that saves it is the multiplayer as singleplayer users can hardly expirience anything new in that game.

I think SF2 has more potential to be a better game, maybe not a better sim but a better game for sure. With updated terrain(Iceland but more developed) and better AI and mission making options it would be totally epic...actually considering it was a one man show I consider it one of the worlds miracles but if one could do that what could 5 do...

  10. Well.. over here it's not last time I asked around. Only companies that offer global pay (read 1st world pay) are in the finance sector. Things could be different in Russia or changed ofc. Then there're the helper hands which surely are below min wage in western standards:p

Don't get me wrong many jobs are paid absurdly lower than in the west for sure, here in Croatia too but some are outside of that and if you are really good you will get paid...ofcourse you can always hire some kid to do the work from the basement but standards will be lower and other than that can't you do that anywhere in the world? You get what you pay for, pay crap-get crap ;)

  11. some fail shots from my another look into the so-called "new" NA terrain enigne... given the 60x60 kilometers test mesh was like 150 kilo polys total (composed of 36 10x10 km chunks) I wonder from where those polycounts are that you can see on info screen there. Also given the existing exporters crah Max when exporting mesh with over around 5000 vertices I wonder if there was other one TK keeps for himself used to export the chunks making Iceland

Yeah at the start of the new terrain I actually had an idea of transffering the existing terrain meshes into the max and use the advantage of new TE texturing and other MAX possibilities to greatly upgrade it at low to no performance cost in game but although I already had the desert terrain in max I was clueless what to do and simply gave up...

  12. I'm starting fresh with the v2 and just to get it clear:

    - I already had vanilla 4.12.2 official

    - installed ModAct 5.3

    now what?

Do I install the Modular Map Expansion next and then the Era modules or there's something I have to do first?
