  1. When I first started with OFF I had an AMD Athlon 1.2Ghz CPU 512 Mb PC133, GeForce 4 MX440 64Mb video card. It wasn't long before I saw it was hopeless and started collecting parts. That was early Phase 2. If you would like to try it, I'll send you a copy of Phase 2 final and all the trimmings. Just PM me your address.

    Welcome aboard,

  2. I was watching a documentary on the Military Channel called "Submarines: Life on a boomer" this morning and noticed a glaring mistake. It may not be noticeable to the average person, but having been part of Uncle Sam's Underwater Canoe Club, I noticed it right away. They mentioned a "nuclear submarine" that caught fire in 1988 in which 3 sailors were killed. The only sub that caught fire in 1988 in which 3 sailors died developed a leak in the battery compartment, which caused a short in an electrical bus, causing a battery explosion and subsequent fire. The sub was the USS Bonefish SS-582. The Bonefish was not a boomer (ballistic missile sub) nor was it ever designed or equipped to carry nuclear weapons of any kind. It was not even a nuclear submarine. It was diesel/electric.

  3. "I installed CFS 3 and the old unpatched OFF from the CD first."

I know this may sound like a silly question, but are you using OFF Between Heaven and Hell, or OFF Phase 2? If it's Phase 2, you not only have to install and update CFS3, but you have to fly it at least once before installing OFF. The patches at the OFF site are for BH&H.

If you are using Phase 2, give me a holler and I'll help any way I can.

  4. Ahhhhhh, fresh meat! Welcome to the world of OFF Smilingmonkey! Have you scheduled your leave of absence from work? Notified the Missus and wee ones of your impending hiatus? All part of the preparation, Old Boy!

Oh, iced tea on the rocks, wait, that's silly. It's freakin' cold. Make that a piping hot cup of Java!
