Hey Simmer, nice to see you back! That was a long time ago but here's the best of my memory I was flying a Fokker D7 so it must have been around June 1918 Only stating this cuz the frontline must have been close enough around that time Jasta 11, I think, just try to find a date where you're stationed close to Paris OFF will generate enough missions that pass in that direction and just wander off Either that or you can find a French Squad in that area Or maybe P2 QC will allow you to select that region and avoid the trip Have fun, bring back some fine wine! btw. If you're liken P2, BH&H and HitR are leaps forward

My pleasure Rickity, good to see you back in these parts! And we keep tellin them that the women of old knew how to treat their man I thought of your period videos when I spotted this Here's the smash hit of the early century to listen to: http://www.we7.com/#...trackId=2353115 I haven't seen Cross and Cockades mentioned here before Looks like they're making a WWI encyclopedia of sorts -

Here's a little ditty I found on the net Apparently it's the source of the WWI term "Archie" Here's a link that explains how the name came about http://www.crossandc...oads/Archie.pdf But this leads to the larger website: http://www.crossandc...e.com/index.asp These guys have been doing massive research on WWI since 1970 ...at least Here's a link to their volume index http://www.crossandc...1-38index-1.pdf Check it out, it's searchable Archibald, Certainly Not! It’s no use me denying facts I’m henpecked, you can see! ‘Twas on our wedding day my wife commenced to peck at me The wedding breakfast over, I said, “We’ll start off today Upon our honeymoon.” Then she yelled, “What! waste time that way?” “Archibald, certainly not! Get back to work at once, sir, like a shot. When single you could waste time spooning But lose work now for honeymooning! “Archibald, certainly not!" I once strolled through a field, and there a mad bull came across. It gamboll’d with me playfully and quickly won the toss! Of course I sued the owner, and the day the case was fought, The judge exclaimed when I said, “Sir, let’s have the bull in court!” “Archibald, certainly not! Just show what other evidence you’ve got!” But he cried when I said, ” Please forgo it… Because I must stand up to show it. “Archibald-certainly not” A sportsman I have always been I’ve hunted with the hounds. I’ve hunted, too, without them, and It’s cost me many pounds. I can’t afford to hunt now that I’m married, but one day, The wife remarked, when I asked her If cricket I could play, “Archibald, certainly not! About this cricket game I’ve read a lot. Besides, last time you played at Dover, I heard you bowled a maiden over! Archibald-certainly not!” A lady named Miss Hewitt got on friendly terms with me. She fell in love with me at once and then fell in the sea! My wife came on the scene as I threw coat and vest aside ; As other garments I slipped off to save the girl, she cried, “Archibald, certainly not ! Desist at once disrobing on the spot ! You may show your pluck and save Miss Hewitt, But if you’ve got to strip to do it Archibald-certainly not!” At supper time last Sunday I was hungry as could be. A chicken on the table smelt most savoury to me! I longed for just a taster as I munched my jam and bread. At last I said, ” Can I have just the beak?” then my wife said, “Archibald, certainly not! You know that fowl for you was never got. Eat chicken when to bed you’re going! Why, all night long I’d have you crowing! Archibald, certainly not!"

Rabu, just an old memory from documentaries I believe the RNAS made raids on the Zeppelins Hangars with ship lauched Camels IIRC, they ditched beside the ships upon their return -

I imagine adding an extra magazine on the Nieup 11/16's was very common in the day I bet a lot of Gunsights were rigged up too -

Sounds like a Dastardly and Mutley scenario But I'd hope the aggressor would include a quick release after the damage was done Also mounting it to a more robust fusalage would likely out muscle a wing ...likely! -
Where is the N.28's gunsight?

Here's the specs on the 2 machines (from wikipedia) DV specs weren't as complete but it had 10 more HP and weighed about the same as the DIII ...yielding .086 HP/lb DVa, I believe, had additional wing strengthening and was even heavier Nieuport 28 General characteristics Crew: one, pilot Length: 7.8 m (24.4 ft) Wingspan: 8.1 m (26 ft 3 in) Height: 2.5 m (8 ft 0 in) Wing area: 15.8 m² (169 ft²) Empty weight: 475 kg (1,227 lb) Loaded weight: 560 kg (1,635 lb) Powerplant: 1× Gnome 9-N rotary, 102kW (160 hp) Performance Maximum speed: 184 km/h (122 mph) Range: 349 km (180 miles) Service ceiling: 5300 m (17,390 ft) Rate of climb: 11.5 min to 3,000 m (9,840 ft) Wing loading: 37.9 kg/m² (7.77 lb/ft²) Power/mass: 0.15 kW/kg (0.09 hp/lb) Albatross DIII General characteristics Crew: one Length: 7.33 m (24 ft 0 in) Wingspan: 9.00 m (29 ft 6 in) Height: 2.90 m (9 ft 6 in) Wing area: 23.6 m² (254 ft²) Empty weight: 695 kg (1,532 lb) Loaded weight: 886 kg (1,949 lb) Max takeoff weight: 955 kg (2,105 lb) Powerplant: 1× Mercedes D.IIIa inline water cooled engine, 127 kW (170 hp) Performance Maximum speed: 175 km/h (94 kn, 109 mph) at sea level Range: 480 km (261 nmi, 300 mi) Service ceiling: 5,500 m (18,044 ft) Rate of climb: 4.5 m/s (886ft/min) Wing loading: 37.5 kg/m² (7.67 lb/ft²) Power/mass: 0.13 kW/kg (0.081 hp/lb) -
cfs3 most probably doesn't even report this information The Devs had a tough enough time figuring out where the player's crate landed/crashed after each flight IIRC they still don't know the speed/angle of impact for player crashes Trying to decipher where all the AI crashed and how hard would be near impossible

Where is the N.28's gunsight?
Duce Lewis replied to Pike Bishop's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I've had similar feelings to Crossbones The engine seems quite anemic It will reach it's max speed in level flight (about 123 mph) but it takes forever to do so Consequently, it's acceleration in a dogfight is almost non-existant I always ended up below and far behind Albatross, not a speedster herself N.28 is very small but with 160 HP, IMO should have very good acceleration -
Thanks Winder, that's excellent news! If you immerse us any deeper, we'll need scuba gear
-
Winder/Pol, sorry I know you're busy But can you add a trhought here?
-
Hope it works for you M8! Lot of other good ideas to try out here too Another tip is to deaden your Center Position I set 2 points on boths sides of Dead Center to Zero for both the X and Y Axis This allows a stable zone in the middle for aiming

Thanks carrick, I agree, polls are fun My 1st thought on the cable and hook idea was that it was intended as a joke But then I remembered reading long ago about such things Amazing what the pioneers thought up I wonder if there are any records of successful graplings? Thanks Widow I voted for your parachute as Best Idea! 2nd question was easy ...but picking the best was tough I chose the parachute because I thought it would have the most far reaching effect -
Hi 12oclockhigh Some good points about a great sim There are 3 levels selectable for Claims in Workshop You can have anywhere from tough to all claims accepted

I do recall some folks stating they stopped getting the blue jaggies when they upgraded graphics cards But it would depend on your whole setup, settings, etc. That makes sense Bright days will have more shadows & glare -
Time to Vote Gents!!! Lots of great ideas! Remember all entries were to be a feasable modification that a resourceful squadron mechanic could make Some ideas though good, did not meet this criteria The Posters generally thought them non-feasable themselves or they were only possible in a sim not RL Hope no one is upset Feel free to add your comments and discuss

Excellent HPW! Great work M8 -
OK, now I understand better Unfortunately I'm still running TIR 4 with the old software (1/2 the forum now hammers Duce for not updating ...I know ...I know) The software appears to be totally revamped so any advice I'd give there might be erronious But I too had trouble with the fast pan rate at 1st My solution was to reduce the total pan area ...reducing pan rate I now couldn't see behind me Next I setup Chase View from in front of my crate looking aft To check my 6, I just popped into Chase View quickly As I became more accustomed to TIR, I increased the pan rate until I could eventually look all around HTH,
