  1. You can always enlist with FA(A) 250 for the DiD Campaign. No need to fly regularly - you must only advance the date in game, to match the date in real life. Two-seaters are no lame ducks, and it is not screwed up, when you knock fighters down in a DFW. She is a sturdy battle horse with good climb, fast, and easy to fly. And what your forward gun won't hit, can still be peppered by your observer. Wait 'till you fly the Bristol Fighter! Carrying the "fighter" in it's name fully right.
  2. themightyscr: all I do is to order the flight up another thousand feet or so, and the poor Fokkers are, er, Fokked. Troll, you should take the freedom of enlisting various pilots in various times of the war, to enjoy all the crates. You won't bring one pilot through the whole war anyway. At least I don't know anyone whomade it. Slarti, the Strutter is of course far too superior over the Endecker. I wonder if I can survive, until we get at least we can make it. But in the first sortie we met Nieuports - very tough; they curve like hell! I don't know, what Boelcke and Immelmann would think, Hasse Wind - they are army aces, and I am a Marineflieger. My Staffelführer, Oberleutnant zur See Gotthard Sachsenberg, only shrugged and said: "If it makes you feel better..." Then he walked away to get himself a grog. Do you never meet Einis? And if you do: what are you doing then?
  3. Thinking about buying but...

... I played Aces Over Europe, Aces Over the Pacific ... Sigh - yes, I played those too, and today, I wonder, how much my phantasy was able to wrap the whole immersive stuff around those rather raw pics. Lol! Welcome to Over Flanders Fields, TrollBreath, and let me assure you: from what I read in your post, you have definitely found the one and only ABSOLUTELY right WW1 sim you could! I see your town and state are named; so I'll add you to our OFF Forum Pilots maps (see Sticky Threads above).
  4. Exactly, OvS - a Sopwith Salamander with an experimental camouflage. Perhaps you want to do the next one?
  5. Yes, and that's quite something with 9 victories. Much better than Lanoe Hawker's faith. When I must cross the lines (for escort duties for example), I always make sure I know, where my lines are, and the shortest way back. Also, I come in with some good altitude; rarely below 9.000 feet. If fighters attack my recon flight, I remain at the level of the recon craft; I defend them, but never chase after enemies, when they try to lure me down. When my craft is hit, I break off, or climb and advise my wingmen from above the fight. I used to try to save everybody. When my wingmen dived with the Nupes, I followed to fight them out. I sometimes succeeded, but often enough, I fell or got captured. I can't do that anymore (it's hard to overcome that helping reflex in our nature) - if my wingmen don't follow my orders, they have to fight it out themselves. I am trying very hard to fly it, as if it could cost my REAL LIFE - like Creaghorn does it. It may look more egotistic, but your life comes first - to be able to fight another day.
  6. A heartfelt PLEA to the Dev Team

    Never give up, old chap!
  7. Why not continue this WW1 aircraft quiz? Here comes my round: Which aircraft is this?
  8. A heartfelt PLEA to the Dev Team

A Sopwith Tabloid - that would be funny! Looking like Sopwith's early attempt to build a Stealth Fighter.
  9. Question about TrackIR

Bordeauxred Baron: "Doo zatt! Two targetz are better zan won! Shredderink der Snipe - oh, der excitement!!!"
  10. So..P4 is NOT an addon

    Really? Tch!
  11. So I understand, it's mainly a store for different settings, which get activated automatically for the various games? Well, then I won't need it - since I got "Over Flanders Fields", I don't play any other games no more.
  12. Regarded realisticly, 9 confirms are very good for a WW1 pilot. POW - not so good. Not many German pilots got captured - mainly because they operated defensively on their side of the line. I don't think, that fighters had to fly much ground attack, and you must not do them; you can always click "advance time" and get another mission; more historically correct. I rarely fly railyard attacks, and if I do, I do them mainly at the beginning of a carreer, when there isn't so much to loose yet. Airfield attacks slightly more often, but I make only one or two strafing passes and then return. And I only attack fields close to the lines. If we should get Schlachtflieger, such missions would be their task. Sometimes, by the way, the announcement is "You got captured, but escaped after 19 days". Then you're lucky and can take up your duties again.
  13. Well, you had me worried there about my sources, Rabu, but now you put it right. I had looked it up on Rosebud's wonderful website. http://www.earlyaero...om/archive1.htm
  14. A heartfelt PLEA to the Dev Team

He won't give up... Widow, why not remember a great craft as we'd like to see it - in one piece - instead of giving one in your hands? Mmuahahahahahahahaaaa!!!!
  15. You wouldn't believe it's CGI, would you? Impressive scene!
  16. Thanks for the link, Flyby - they are all rather short, but incredible, and worth to watch! That stuff is calling for a remake of Battle of Britain, or some Pacific theater fighting.
  17. Question about TrackIR

GHunter, glasses are not the problem. Light behind you would be. Or light behind the monitor, reflecting too strong from your glasses could also be. But you just don't put light sources there, and it's wonderful! It isn't cheap, but I never regreted a single penny from the price they charge. You are in the cockpit with full view around!
  18. Thanks, von Paulus - please report, if it works well, and if it can improve anything in addition to the Catalyst Control Center.
  19. So..P4 is NOT an addon

You guys made me smile after a low day - good job!
  20. Wow, impressive shot there, Widowmaker! Those Jasta 18 boys can get nasty. They once smoked my SPAD XIII pilot in co-op between D VIIs and Dr.1s. Here is my second sortie with Jasta 80 b in Alsace. We didn't meet any enemies, but the flying in that dramatic scenery and weather was great.
  21. So..P4 is NOT an addon

Widowmaker: I have a feeling that P4 may well exceed even our wildest dreams I hope you'll keep saying that, when you won't get a Snipe, old chapp.
  22. The plane was easy - Morane Saulnier "N" type. The gun is a Hotchkiss Model 1914. Not that I knew this - but I have my sources. Maybe the same as you have.
  23. When was this built - looks like the Fokker E.V ?
  24. WWI Photos Website

Yes, Rabu, it was, long time ago. But it's a good site, and always worth a reminder. By the way - I'm missing UncleAl. He would normally say, that lots of these links are "chiseled in stone" "north of our position" (in the Sticky Threads). You're not seriously ill, Unc?
