  1. That's why they had the flare cartridges mounted outside the cockpit - they were too dangerous to go off from summer heat or a tracer hit.
  2. No, my pilot still doesn't work. I keep getting the message, that the pilot isn't found in the Uisel.xml, I tried to copy that file from the game folder to other Microsoft folder in C: but no use.
  3. Trackir 5

I bought a TrckIR 4 Pro a year ago, with the metal clip to fix to a baseball cap, with three reflecting points on. Then I just downloaded the software for TrackIR 5, and I must say, it was a lot smoother, somehow felt better. So yes, you can use that reflector clip.
  4. Would be great, if you found it, Trebby, but it might be a tricky matter. Otherwise, the devs would have fixed it, I believe.
  5. Yes, that would surely look great! But to mention a positive improvement we got with BHaH, and which is an immense help, when flying Full DiD: the Flak puffs ! Don't know, what I would do without them. They really saved my life very often.
  6. For Hasse Wind, Bullethead and all two-seater fans (enjoy): Rumpler 2seater - good footage Manfred von Richthofen - Good footage
  7. The Lone Wolf

Hihih - poet's meeting here. It's fun. I like the "slid", as you are sliding through the mud. I'd only change the last line to close the circle more, perhaps like: To plunge back again deep in the mud
  8. Thanks, Morris! Creaghorn, I had ticked some boxes again meanwhile; mainly those I had before. Still it froze. And with all boxes unticked, I had made three long, wonderful flights without any problems. It's hard to say what it was, cause I was experimenting "on all fronts" - also with the TrackIR and the ATI Catalyst settings. But I still have the old "overrides" settings, so I will set them like that again.

Really? The German Limericks I know are rhymed AABBA (which is really difficult to find rhymes for). But then they are rather German than Limerick, of course. Sorry, Duce - I did you wrong then.
  10. Think I got it now - the "unlimitedpilots.xml" also belonged into another folder. I put the copy in there too, and it should work now.
  11. Yes, I had landed and did the usual exit procedure. After that you get the claims thing, but nothing - back to briefing. I must have made a mistake, when I replaced the pilot folder and the unlimitedpilots.xml - I must have forgotten something else.
  12. Can anyone help with this question: what other files are responsible for a pilot's data? After the CFS3 reset, I have replaced the "pilots" folder with my saved one; also replaced the "unlimitedpilots.xml" with the saved one. But what did I miss, when I don't get a claim form?
  13. Thanks, BirdDog! UncleAl, it worked fine for days. Now suddenly, I had problems. I did a CFS3 reset, but now I didn't get a claim for after shooting down several N17 Lewis! It's a P I T A !
  14. My Windows Vista always updates. What's a legacy driver? Pol, sliders are 5, 4, 3, 5, 5 - should work with a HD4870 with 1 GB, and an E8300.
  15. The Lone Wolf

Looks almost like the Limerick verse form - but somehow you have outmaneuvered the rhyming of the first and last line? (Which is really tough to do - what may rhyme on "Flanders"?)
  16. KLAXON HORNS

Usually, all I'm searching, will be found somewhere in "Wikipedia". But I found no WW1 Klaxon horns, nor anything near it? In "Google Pictures" I only find more modern horns or old car and truck horns.
  17. The E III here in OFF doesn't have the right earlier opponents. She has to face better enemy fighters; so I'd say, she is one of the hardest craft to fly a campaign in. Hope you picked a quieter area at least (Alsace)? My earliest craft for a campaign was the Airco DH-2, which is already much harder to fly than my beloved Albatros. But that craft is modern, compared to the Eindecker. So I can only say, like the commander, who knows he sends his guys out into a hell of a mission: I wish you good luck! (No reason to be ashamed, if it ends rather early).
  18. In a magazine, I read that the Jastas organised their Staffel colors sometimes on dubious ways. While they got the standard camouflage colors from the army supply, it was said that the Staffel marking colors were non-standard colors, and often of very varying quality. Does anyone know passages from books, or other sources, for this field of research?
  19. Hmm - looks like I have to give up my idea, that there were pre-RLM colours already produced and delivered for these purposes.
  20. Here is the link to Thomas Genth's website with many intersting pictures and background. Note the battle damage on the Albatros D V. (You will also find great pictures of WW2 aircraft) http://www.thomasgenth.de/html/albatros_d_va.html
  21. SE5a won't keep firing

Toadvine, this may feel inglorious, but it's an honest report about becoming an OFF Pilot. This sim is the opposite of "arcadish" - it feels as real as we can get right now. Pilots had accidents in those days, and some of them were fatal, and they never saw front service action. When you begin with the worst things to happen - like this accident - you will learn from them, and next time you'll make it better. And better. It took me half a year, until I was good on the Albatros - and that is only one fighter. I would have to learn the others still - this sim supplies me with so much to experience - You will get better slowly. Don't give up. It will be rewarding!
  22. The Lone Wolf

A good one, Catch! Hmm, what would rhyme better in the last line, let me think... I like "Limericks", but only know one in German. Here it is anyway: Ein Knabe auf den Azoren wurde ganz ohne Nase geboren Das war zwar ein Graus doch die Natur glich ihn aus und schuf ihn auch ganz ohne Ohren Translated, the meaning is: A little boy on the Azores was born all without a nose Now this was a horror but nature compensated it and also made him without ears

Oh, I only saw it now, that you really posted the poem of Magee, Dej. Wow - yes, that has a flow. And now I see what you meant about the line with "god". It seems to come to mind easily, when you are flying. I have once flown a sailplane for a bit of the way, and was even allowed to fly a few circles (he wouldn't allow me a looping) and it was an extraordinary feeling; totally different from travelling in a jet airliner; and when my wide turn led my face into the sun, I felt that line I have written - like Magee must have felt it; it was an easyness, that I never wanted to land again.
  24. The Lone Wolf

Well, it LOOKS great in Chinese - like something with a lot of meaning!
  25. ATI 10.3.a drivers out

Sim stopped twice today and threw me back to briefing from the middle of a mission. Could that be the new driver?
