  1. What cockpit are you using ? It would be great to have the look and feel of an F-4s office but with a new instrument panel with multiple MFD's and wide angle HUD.

ok as said i took a look at the Arnie Phantom in NF5 and it would be the most upto date for patches and what have you. still has some ini editing to do IMHO but did not see anything amiss. awaiting screenies before further comment/assistance.

Okay, so I finally managed to take some screenies of the adapters. They are kinda hard to see, but they are right below the inner wing pylons.

@Icarus: I'm using a Kurnass 2000 glass cockpit. My modelling skills are nowhere near as good as to make my own cockpit...so as of now, I'm using that as a place holder :(

  2. which version of the E_79 are you using? just went to look at the one in NF5 and the inboard pylons look fine to me. decalling is another matter given i dont remember the 480th TFS's tailcode being CE.......

Hey man, I'm using TMF's F-4E ARN-101, or more likely known as the F-4E_86. The inboard pylons seem to have a Maverick adapter that I can't get rid off. It's really weird!

In response to amariani: They are not the flare dispensers. The flare and chaff dispensers are at the very top where the pylon meets the wing. They are 'small squares' (best way I can describe them).

    I'll upload a pic tomorrow.

  3. Hey guys! I first wanted to thank everyone for the awesome mods. I've had countless hours of fun over the past months.

But, as I start digging into .ini modifications and the sort (new modder in the midst perhaps? ;) ) I've come across three points I could use some help in.

    For starters:

    1. The F-4E Phantom ARN-101 (F-4E_79) has these annoying 'adapters' or something underneath each shoulder pair in each of the inner wing pylons.

It sticks out under anything I load...and it just look plainly awful, especially after jettisoning external stores, etc. Any help? It LOOKS like an AGM-65 Adapter...but I'm not entirely sure. I'm trying to make a quasi F-4EX Enhanced Super Phantom..GE-F414-EPE's, Meteor capability on MER, AIM-2000 IRIS-T Capability ON MER, lower weight due to carbon fiber and modern alloy's, updated avionics and glass cockpit, improved fuel quantity, flaps from the F-4S (FULL WING BABYY), etc. It's basically a compilation of many small mods and .ini edits. Looks awesome, and fights superbly! Can turn with a MiG-19! LOL

    2. Certain "What if" MiG-23's (such as the german flogger, the F-7C, etc) Look SPECTACULAR. BUT I think a healthy improvement would be to port over the stock MiG-23 FM into them, as they have this annoying tail wag after each aileron roll. Any clues on what to modify?

    3. A long time ago, an F-15 super pack was released. I WAS STOKED. It was amazing. But one little detail has bugged me since then. They fly like wallowing whales! Not like the stock 3W F-15. I would like to make them more agile and nimble, possibly porting over the Stock F-15 FM to the 3rd Party F-15's? Any helps on that too?

Finally, everything looks awesome. Seriously. I can't thank you guys enough. Stary's cockpit's are amazing, (The German dude...forgot your ID, sorry!!!) weapon packs and teaser packs look amazing. Can't wait for updated brimstones, etc! Wrench. Your sense of humor plus smart .ini editing has gotten me flying circles around everything. To everyone else, thank you for everything!

  4. flying the stock F-15 and some of the 3rd party jets, can't help but notice there's a huge roll momentum in the flight model? the roll rate stoppage is so slow i'm over banking all the time despite the decent turning ability.

realism aside (although pretty sure if the eagle flew like that the air force shouldn't bought it first place....) what line in the _data.ini should I look at?

I've noticed this too! The 3rd party F-15's are very sluggish and heavy! when cruising to the target, they fly in a nose-up profile...not like the 3W F-15!

  5. In any case, OP, Upgrading your CPU will not harm you at all :drinks:

There's really no good or bad choice, you really can't go wrong with a quad core!

Just bear in mind, that the brunt number of FPS is generated by your GPU, NOT your CPU.

Although upgrading your CPU might improve performance somewhat (due to improved CPU efficiency, L3 cache memore, etc),

Upgrading your Graphics card will always yield you the highest FPS gains.

  6. Hey there! In regards to your CPU, it may help, and it may not help. In the case it does help, it will only improve loading times I'm afraid!

It may increase FPS in the 5-10 range, but nothing else...

It might be a good idea to upgrade both the CPU and the GPU (Graphics card) if you want better performance out of your system.

By upgrading both the CPU and the GPU, you eliminate the problem of your CPU becoming a bottleneck if your card is of very high performance,

thus allowing a maximum gain in performance FPS wise.

If you want to upgrade only one thing, I would upgrade the Graphics card. Those are responsible for most of the FPS!

You could also overclock your CPU... BUT I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT, AT ALL. AND I WILL NOT TELL YOU HOW TO DO IT. There, I said itdrinks.gif

    (If can fry your PC...)

  7. well, check the individual data inis, making sure they're listed, and might have to extract and rebuild the soundlist.ini

The thing is, wrench, that I'm using a soundlist.ini I downloaded from this site!

All sounds in my sound folder (gun sounds) are found in the soundlist.ini, with their corresponding entries...

I'm at a loss here... It was JUST working a couple of days ago...dntknw.gif

  8. Hey guys! I noticed that a certain modder's (I forgot your name dntknw.gif) CF-18 hornet package included an updated RWR display! I tried copy & pasting the RWR.lst into the F-4E ARN folder, renamed it to match the past RWR and try to see if it worked..Which it didn't! LOL

Do I have to move the whole avionics?

or there's something a bit simpler I can do?

    Cheers!drinks.gif

  9. Hey! A long time ago, I read this thread that described the same issues your are having. The solution, it read, was to patch to the latest patch level.

Have you patched your install to the latest patch level? That will, most of the time, solve your issue immediately :)

Let me know how it works out!

Or, alternatively, you could download stary's hollywood effects here in the download area! They are spectacular to say the least!drinks.gif

  10. I would suggest a clean install, and make sure you move your mod folder or rename it in your case and see if the problem still exists. If it fixes it then it is something in the mod folder.

The problem is not the install by itself, I figured because I tried moving everything to SF2:I, and low and behold...service was unselectable again!

I think it's a problem in the modded install...

  11. Hey guys, due to a recent movement to Venezuela, and the terribad infra-structure (internet sucks! Talking nearly 30kb/s download speed) I've had to take a 9 month hiatus from Combat Ace and strike fighters.

Anyhow, I have a slight problem:

My heavily modded SF2:V install has always worked perfectly. Due to patch issues I've read about, I haven't updated past nov011 patch level. Now, my issue is, somehow, after installing the F-4E_Aggressors plane, and the TU-95-M16s(iirc lol) I can no longer select any service for any given plane, in any given map, for any given time period. I deleted both planes, but the problem persisted. Now, I patched up to Nov011 (from Oct011) in an effort to fix this issue, but low and behold....it's still there! I'm migrating my current mods and stuff over to SF2 Israel (i have a 4way install) to see if that cures the problem, but I would like to prevent migrating nearly 100gb's worth of mods to another part of my harddrive. Any clues broskies??

    I appreciate your ever-helpful insight.
