  1. Is the Dark Blue World mod, (along with UP3 since you have to have that for the DBW to work) compatible with the newest patched version? I can't seem to find anything about that. Thanks

    All i could find is this

    http://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,31723.0.html

    So how the hell do I patch to a lower level, and also, is it even worth it?

  2. So it seems like the DL from gog was fu**ed and incomplete. I cleaned out my entire drive and started all over. Downloaded again, installed into something other than /program filex86, right from there I noticed a difference and saw that the actual patch updated and installed correctly. Messed with my conf.ini file and didnt have to move it from the file to desktop this time, started the game and no text.

    Only bad thing is I had my first mission completed, now its gone forever. Pretty disappointing but at least the game is running like it should. Thanks for all the help and tips, looks like it was a little of everything and I had to bend and just clean out the entire thing and start over.

    Argh, super frustrating but oh well, I think I can remember most of the first mission, although losing the 9 hours of build time floors me.

  3. Yeah, still got nothing.

    If its not the mouse issue than I have no idea, maybe my download from gog.com was bad? I am at a loss.

    On the idea of a bad, or incomplete DL from gog.com.... While making my missions in the FMB, I've got everything done on my first one except trying to get a "point" to the mission, as in setting something to create a mission fail/success. I've read the manual and I don't have the tabs they are talking about when setting "mission perimeters". I am wondering if maybe my DL from gog.com is actually incomplete.

  4. Hey thanks, yeah I've read that one too. Any changes I make to the file I do have to move it to Desktop, than back. Still no dice.

    The only thing I can think of is people saying use your mouse, click on the text, then right click, so on. My thing is I have no cursor in the game unless I hit "M" to view the map. During the game without the map up my mouse moves the camera around. Not sure if that has anything to do with it but Im at a loss other than that.

  5. Touche about the system, I just figured someone would ask if I posted missions and I have no idea how the missions would act on any other machine. I did the test just off the coast of Naha Okinawa so I could see if some land and ground stuff would do anything, obviously nothing near populace cities like you are saying.

    Anyways, I've begun making the missions and was curious is it better to post them as singles or as a package?

  6. Thanks Jedi, never tried turning off the chatter, I have to say I like listening to all the commotion, although at the end of the missions listening to everyone ask to land and getting denied over and over again is quite annoying.

    I've even tried deleting the entire conf.ini file and replacing it with the one from my backup folder, still nada. I would have thought something this trivial would have been an option in the realism portion of the options, like right next to unlimited ammo, have, turn off/on subtitles.

  7. After reading every other article on multiple websites about this issue, I still have it.

    I want to take the subtitles off, but nothing works.

    I've tried the conf.ini way and that did not do anything, so I tried adjusting it to just show one line instead, no dice there either.

    I also tried the Alt and mouse click but nothing. The only thing with that one that might be causing it not to work is my mouse movement moves the camera around in any view, so I am not sure if that has anything to do with it (since I dont have a cursor and can't "click on" on the text. The buttons on the mouse are not assigned to anything.

    Any suggestions?

  8. Update:

    So I messed around with how far I could stretch the game on my machine and this is what I got;

    20+ IJN Ships, 80 Allied aircraft, est. 60 IJN aircraft, all converging over the fleet within 3 miles of each other and the ships were within 1 mile of each other. My max FPS was 60, Avg was around 34. I dipped below 15 a few times but it still wasnt choppy, only when I bailed did it lag for a few seconds. (Id post a screen but I cant find where they are saving for some reason)

    My setting are set to max/perfect and my conf.ini file water is at 4, forest 3, effects 2, so on.

    I think I can make some pretty intense stuff for those who have high-end machines since my FPS didn't go too crazy and that was with everything getting blown out of the sky at once and within view. If I toned it down a bit and things were more realistically spread I dont think there would be any FPS issues.

    My computer specs are as follows:

    Intel® Core™ i7-3820 Quad-Core 3.60 GHz 10MB Intel Smart Cache LGA2011

    Asetek 510LC Liquid Cooling System 120MM Radiator & Fan

    2TB (2TBx1) SATA-III 6.0Gb/s 64MB Cache 7200RPM HDD (Single Drive)

    8GB (2GBx4) DDR3/1600MHz Quad Channel Memory (Corsair Vengeance)

    (3-Way SLI Support) Gigabyte X79-UD3 Intel X79 Chipset Quad Channel DDR3 ATX Mainboard w/ UEFI DualBIOS, Dolby Home Theater 7.1 Audio, GbLAN, USB3.0, SATA-III RAID, 4 Gen3 PCIe X16, 2 PCIe X1 & 1 PCI

    Windows 7 Home Premium [+104] (64-bit Edition

    850 Watts - Thermaltake Smart Series SP-850M 80 Plus Bronze Modular Power Supply

    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 HD 2.5GB 16X PCIe Video Card

  9. 1946. I think Cliffs of Dover is the only one I don't have. For how old these games are Im not disappointed with the graphics. With the settings set at max/perfect and making the adjustments to the conf.ini file for better water, forests and so on the game in my opinion looks just as good as anything else I've played in the combat simulator family... maybe there will be a resurgence, who knows, I will post them either way if there is one person interested.

    I will start on them soon, I just ordered my new 24 inch LED monitor (Whooo) and once I get that I will be able to sit in a chair and actually get down to business. Currently I just plug directly into my big screen and sit in my cockpit.. so needless to say its hard to build missions sitting with the stick and throttle right there.

    I've been doing some reading and watching some documentaries and getting ideas. Obviously Midway is a major one I will work on since I was disappointed with the level of objects and fighting. (At least from the fighter stand point). I will also be looking at Operation Vengeance and the shooting down of Admiral Yamamoto. Also thinking about more strikes into Japan with B-29's and Doolittle's raid to start. We'll see how it goes.

  10. I am thinking about creating my own series of single missions that form a campaign, one that flows with a solid historical story line but not just the same boring missions, more of a multi-viewpoint, same battle thing (If that makes sense). I'd be pushing the game to its max as far as objects to make it more realistic and intense. Just wondering if its worth posting them here for people since it doesn't seem like there's much interest anymore. Also if people prefer the missions to come one by one or just one massive posting with all of them.

  11. Thanks Obi-wan Kenobi. I am running Win 7 64 as well but I will try the update for the Logi 5.10 SW. I haven't turned things on after SF2 crashed one too many times about 5 months ago, so I am probably out of date. Not a huge issue but was curious.

    I will check out some new campaigns like you said. Any reason why the game doesn't support hundreds of aircraft? It seems like its got everything else.

    Thanks again for all the help.

    Cheers

  12. Anyone else had this issue? I have zero force feedback even though its clicked on in the hardware section of the game. I checked it in SF2 and it worked, so I know its not my stick (G940)

    Not sure if its related but sometimes my views switch from pan to snap for my HOV button.

    On an unrelated topic, maybe I haven't got far enough on the campaigns, but do they get more intense as far as naval battles? I imagine formations and formations of planes heading towards the IJN fleet during Midway but it just seems slow. Have I just not explored enough in the game or is this a FPS issue cause I am thinking about making my own, heavy , thick missions since I have a top end machine. Thanks in advance!

  13. Thanks for the help guys, I ended up getting Wings of Prey and IL-2, which came with all the expansion packs. IL-2 is what I have been looking for forever. Graphics are still pretty damn good but the second I jumped into my cockpit and started up the game it was like I was a kid again playing WWII Fighters and Microsoft's Pacific Fighters.

    Not sure if I'll be going back to Strike Fighters and the headaches with that anytime soon.

    I suppose I'll ask even though I am happy with the game as is, but any good mod's or anything you veterans recommend for a rookie like myself?

  14. only if one removes the clock and repurposes that node INTO the RWR display, as has been done

    (major snippage)

    Instrument[013]=HSIWheel

    Instrument[014]=AttitudeIndicator

    Instrument[015]=ADI_BankIndicator

    Instrument[016]=CourseArrow

    Instrument[017]=RWR

    Instrument[018]=Mirror1

    ---

    and in the clock call out...

    [RWR]

    Type=RWR

    NodeName=Clock

    HF.... everything looks like what you said to have.... still no go, I still see the clock, and Wrench, in the cockpit.ini position 17 is RWR, but I couldnt find anything that just said clock, I have clockhour, clockminute and clocksecond.... do I replace all of them with what you put?
