I would think using the weapon editor or whatever to create a new AA-2 that is all aspect but has a hit chance of zero or something like that.

To complete these missions from the game side involves taking out a random number of Air defence sites AAA/radar/SAM (more like DEAD). If you dont have easymode where you can see what are primary targets - then taking out guns near the target waypoint will usually work. To see guns without aids - really difficult with default effects - go through the ground targets (E) untill you get a gun and padlock it. Some of the modded effects mean you can see the tracer and flashes easier to can hit them Strafe with guns and rockets needs practise - pull out before you get to close basically and never over fly a gun site. If you can learn to remember where the gun site is climb say 9000 ft above, dive down and ripple rockets or bombs.

23-12A is the recent Yefim designation for the original MLA and only shows Cuba as getting those from the early 1980s. They arrived in Angola in 84...............The recent MiG Diaries written by former Cuban MiG-23ML/A pilot and a SAAF pilot is by far the best book on the Angolan air war - but they only refer to the 23 being an ML which doesnt help. There were two new build MLA varients i23-19B (MLAE) for Syria/Libya that had a mix of avionics, and i23-22A (MLAE-2) for Bulgaria which was an MLA airframe with Russian MLD avionics. Both are called export MLDs in other sources. All Russian P/ML/MLA airframes were supposedly converted and upgraded into the dogtooth MLDs from the mid 80s.

What exactly has been upgraded? Do you need to upgrade your graphics drivers also? Any other updated drivers for it you may need to apply? (chipset for example) Anyway to roll back? Does the game run without any mods?

Not all correct - I have not read it properly. The IAS looks good but the other dial for Mach is not on there (as said above) and it is supposed to be. More surprised that was left off.

You might be a few decades late for TMF The actual F-14A NATOPS from which they probably moddelled it on tells me the airspeed dial goes from 80 to 850 knots Indicated. So as you can see in your the sceen shot the needle is on 850 kts so that looks correct. M2.23 at 29,000 ft msl at standard day is ~M1030KCAS or ~1320KTAS I think the real Timcat was limited to 800KIAS under 30,000ft so that might have been an overspeed. Speed must have been displayed elsewhere - the HUD or the CRT display but not familiar really with F-14s.

As a kid Flight of the Intruder on the Amiga which was by the same guys that did Falcon probably swayed me towards the Cold War era - thinking it even had inbuilt ROE (?) dont know. Picked up SFP1 about 2004 which had Vietnam era jets so a natural progression - nothing else was like that.

Yap 1 did allow you to start from taxi and hangars in Wings Over Vietnam iirc - like 18 years ago. TK maybe changed the code so that no longer worked. There were later versions of yap that may have worked but you would have to speak to those guys if they are still about.

The freeware licensing for CA is here. This has not changed much since about 2008. In the West this is seen as a basic common courtesy and politeness to fellow members.

1 Yes 2. You only purchase the modules you want to fly. All the ED AI planes are included I think. Example I never bought the FW-190D but can put it in missions and campaigns for AI use. 3. Further purchases of single player campaigns, Maps (e.g. Normandy), and probably the WWII asset pack will be needed. There is no historical accuracy in the base game especially with WWII it is mostly a sandbox. WWII is very minor in DCS but there is one good multiplayer (4YA) server at least that do that if you like that sort of thing. There are some good single player campaigns for specific aircraft you can buy. It will be limited to the available maps and very small planeset.
